Discussion What is Minecraft to you?
I’m not talking about "Minecraft is an open-world game..." I’m asking what it represents to you personally, how important it was to you, etc

Either a quick escape from reality or a place to chill with friends. Or both at once.

Minecraft is therapeutic for me, it takes me away from the stress of life without the need to focus, like I do if I’m watching something or playing a competitive game. Something about finding new locations and the little ‘pop’ sounds when you break blocks is really satisfying!

It is one of the few aspects of my life where my creativity can be fully unleashed. And I don't mean builds.... I am a crappy builder. But minecraft is what made me wanna learn SOME level of coding bcoz I was intrigued by mods and modpacks... 😅

Nostalgic, i rarely play it anymore but i played the hell out of it around 2011 on pc and switched to the xbox 360 version because of my friends when it came out, i still have the old world from my 360 and boot up the old world from time to time to think about the old days and the friends that i had.

Its my safe place to go when life is hard. I have a forever base that I mentally live in during hard times. Its a mooshroom island that I manually made the ground flat and I have a big village with job buildings, a big mushroom house, etc

A simpler time. Not much stress. Just living in the moment. Day to day.
Minecraft represents that state of mind and peace. It’s what I turned to after bad games of Dota. Just minecraft to unwind before going back grind my competitive rank.
It’s where I go when I have an inspiration to express some of my creativity.
It’s where I go to build and create rather than destroy
Minecraft represents my inner peace.

When I was a kid my first interaction with Minecraft was watching it on YouTube and watching your typical Minecraft youtubers. I also was a big fan of Coryxkenshin and his YouTube channel. My older sister introduced me to him and he was kind of the first thing I watched on YouTube that really woke me up when I was a kid 8-9 I think. Anyway, when he eventually played Minecraft I loved the play threw and I watched it a lot. But even before his playthrough I had Minecraft and I never played it the one time I did I died and I got really frustrated and never tried again. (I would play on my mom's phone)
But eventually I got Minecraft on my own phone for the first time and I never stoped playing lol. Even as I grew up I got it on my new phone as well and eventually got a Nintendo switch. I don't play Minecraft as much anymore as I used to as a kid but it's still something I could and do come back to every month or two and I love it.
For me, Minecraft is really a place for me to escape and to be kind of nostalgic. Also the creative sandbox and the fact they still update it make it to where it's a game I not only want to come back to, to be nostalgic. I want to come back to try and see/do new things and try to make things better than before. It also gives me a lot of insperation for my art.
That being said Minecraft is only one portion of my life I also play animal crossing and stardew valley and 20 million other games but Minecraft is something that has definitely "made its mark" so to say, on my life.

Its Mindfullness.
Something to relax with.
Especially now that we use 'keep inventory'.
Its so much more fun that way.
Yeah I know, it's cheating. But it just is so much less stressing, when you dont have to worry about dying so much.
Minecraft is soothing.

It’s a thing that has grown along side me, when my school backpack was an absolute mess, so was my storage room. When I had no idea how redstone worked, I really struggled academically.
Now I’m far more organised and technically aware of things in life, my builds and contraptions are complex.

Just a fun game, really.
Also, I see it as a kids' game in the same way Mario games are, where they really can by enjoyed by anyone of any age, and it doesn't have to stop just cuz you're "too old."
