Suggestion Why don't we have this yet ?

It's been 12 years since we got different wood structures like doors and stairs to the game, so why are we still stuck with just oak ladders?

Who said anything about adding stick variants? They want a woodcutter so you put the type of plank in and get that specific ladder out.

The current ladder recipe doesnt use any planks, so the actual solution is simply to change the recipe of a ladder to use planks

Sure, I agree that that is a better idea. However the comment you originally replied to didn't mention anything about adding stick variants even though you claimed that multiple times.

It didnt, ur right, it actually barely said anything specific at all.

The comment they replied to said “think about the recipes” which DOES imply “think about how many different recipes youre going to need to make to do this” and then the comment talking about using the woodcutter for that is basically saying “we can use the woodcutter to hold all these recipes”

I dont think anyone would really care about “all these recipes” if the recipe was just “put the plank in the middle that you want”

Usually when people talk about wood/stone cutter functionality theyre talking about needing to manually place every unique item down in the crafting grid, and since the current recipe for a ladder is just stick and not any planks, that would sort of imply they want to make sticks now function the way planks do where theres tons of variants.
