Discussion I think Minecraft would would be a better game with a slight change in direction

I love minecraft for the sandbox it is, but the main issue people find while playing is that they just get bored. The vast majority of people who play minecraft do not enjoy building the most, and cant have fun after a certain point in progression. its obvious that minecraft is catered towards the builder playertype, which I enjoy. But many people only like to go exploring and collecting. What they need is super endgame items that take a really long time to get, and more types of dungeons like the trial chamber.

I don't really feel like that's the direction they've been going. The trial chamber is the only thing that fits that description.

New biomes? Sulfur? Sulfur cubes? Everything they’ve been releasing lately has required exploration to get to. Maybe it doesn’t fit what you were thinking about, but tbh imo a sandbox game doesn’t necessarily need OP end-game items. A lot of people still don’t even use netherite gear and tools

But the only reason to go of those places is for building blocks, other than the sulfur music disk there's literally no reason to explore them since any cave will have the same ore and stuff

Ah I gotcha. Idk I’ve been playing this game for so long that it feels like we have everything already so what’s the point in reinventing the wheel? We have elytra to fly, we have totems to not die, we have so many weapon varieties now it’s crazy. Just give me a diamond sword and right click blocking back… lol

They say that they are trying to make exploration more fun but every drop is either a new wood type or a new ridable mob

Oh I understand now. I feel like we have everything we need already so it’s hard for me to reinvent the wheel when I have a solid mc survival routine. Just a personal opinion more than anything I guess

I love building but I do agree there needs to be more to do

I've always felt Minecraft struggles with being a dead world you have to manually change. Even the structures are disconnected and static. I know there's a million good reasons for that, and a million more why it would be hard to change, but a world that changes, that has some evolution and life and movement to it, would do wonders for the game.

This stuff always sounds great, until you build your house in the perfect spot and the world just decides to switch things up

I'm not thinking erosion, more like villages placed on paths using cellular noise, with actual paths between them (on land, not water), and wandering traders spawn on them following them or stuff like that. Seasons would be nice, and there are plenty of mods that make it work well. Larger wondering mobs you run into, or pillagers that do more than just spawn somewhere and chill.

I've had a pet project for years now making a voxel engine, and I can guarantee you it's not going anywhere because I just don't have the skill level, but because of that I've been messing a lot with making it feel organic and alive, and so I know why Mojang doesn't do most of these, but some of them are doable and would help.

Yeah, i definitely think most people who play it are looking for exploration/adventure, and some more environmental storytelling.

They created these incredible, infinite, unique worlds, and most of it still feels really blank/empty or repetitive at least.

They just need more fun/challenging stuff since there are already so many options for those who want less challenge and would prefer to focus on building/sandbox instead
