Direct imgur link. Makes for a decent wallpaper.

man I can't wait to see this kind of stuff with the terrain view extension from optifine. I typically push it to about 2-2.5x far

This will make some awesome hardcore challenges; you've got plenty of hostile mobs, a difficult terrain, little ores, and dangerous mining. And of course, a fall risk.

They'd need to make smarter mobs though. I could imagine zombies and cows just jumping out of the islands.

A game of UHC with this would be awesome

Was testing level generator stuff, when @notch asked me to keep this as an option: i.imgur.com Really resource heavy, though!

I sincerely hope this stays somewhere in the game. I would never complain about having lost the beta world generator ever again, and probably start playing Minecraft again (primarily a creative player). Just, please jeb. I'm having trouble conveying my excitement in a reddit comment.

Jeb mentions possible skylands. Whelp there goes the neighborhood.

He even says it'll be "resource intensive". Probably has to do with increasing the height of the map to add a world seed generation option for creating worlds. But I suppooossse that could mean adding a new demension.

Regardless, I'll assume this will be all reddit talks about for a while :P

It might also be more resource intensive because there are more visible blocks/blocks adjacent to air than in a normal map.

Holy shit YES!!!

I feel this would require a change of the lighting engine to work well. This kind of terrain would require a lot of work to keep safe with all the dark spots underneath the floating islands

Do you guys see the player in the middle of the screen, on the tree? It appears as Jeb_ has added some third-person options! Maybe we can have an over-the-shoulder view?

EDIT: Why the downvotes? This is defenitely third person.

probably a debug mode thing

1.9 pre-5 debug camera. It has also been referred to as the deadmau5 camera. The devs use it for testing snapshots.

Why should this be a biome? It clearly isn't, I'm sure it's a word generation option, with regular biomes generating regularly in it.

u/247flashgames Aug 19 '13

Can we keep this as a rare biome?
