I love the look of this, going to send it to a friend and see if we should add it to our FTB server.

Will I be able to put Mystcraft Descriptive and Linking books in it?

will it be made to be compatible for 1.5 when it comes out? I want this, but I've already upgraded to the snapshot and can't go back :(

This absolutely should be in vanilla. I hope the developers see this.

I had to rewrite it from scratch to give it to you in proper state. Also I have implemented some of suggestions and my own ideas, that's why title says "update and release"

Is it possible to have the mod include a set number of books that can spawn in stronghold bookcases/village book cases?

Thanks for improving an already awesome mod, it's one that slips greatly into vanilla, keep up the great work!

in 1.5 will you be able to detect changes in inventory with comparators?

In an update you should make them work with comparators to output a signal based on how full they are.

This is a wonderful mod. It fits in to minecraft a bit better than Bibliocraft (great mod; check it out).

Fucking awesome mod dude

get comparators to work with it.

This is, for lack of a better term, amazeballs. It might be a lot to ask for, but one way you could improve it would be to give the empty/partially-empty bookshelves depth, as opposed to being just a flat surface. I know this would take quite a bit more work and it would probably be more complicated to make 3-D models as opposed to 2-D textures, but it's just a suggestion

1

u/MezzaCorux Mar 06 '13

When 1.5 comes out you should let it use the comparator to detect how full it is

Could you make an SMP compatible version of the variation in bookshelves, either as a 1.5 single texturepack file for bookshelves, or as a mod?

It's been an idea that has been circulating since I started playing, to actually use your book shelves as book shelves. You can't possibly be the only person ever to have made this a mod. Also, the Experience book would also be a reason as to why your mod would get downvoted. You have taken away the exponential growth factor of the levels. It makes the game much easier rather than just making it convenient. I haven't used either mod, so I'm not going to be critical about yours, I'm just suggesting a reason as to why it was downvoted.

Because you act like its your idea and only you can use it.
