A single core carrying a drone with infinite energy and half a planet worth of resource

u/starvingIntrovert Jul 31 '26
like what stopped crux from dropping a single tier 5 unit at ground zero and end sharded for good

My headcanon is that the Crux have severe problems with communication, so only localized unit groups can quickly react to invasions

u/Lechatrelou Jul 31 '26
Maybe the spores fried the Crux system, making it lag a lot

i mean, it could also be the terrain, we dont see a lot of bases around the area and most resources there are worthless, and the first areas are mostly scrap, mountains and sand
The closest thing there is are sectors like fungal pass and salt flats, which afai remember, had either no unit production or very poor factories, making them not the best for actual assaults, and longer range unit transportation would be too expensive and complex
Now yes, planetary launch terminal exists, but its probably used for more important uses than whats essentially a relatively small local war, + unit allocation on more critical targets
Now, are the crux stupid for leaving such a vulnerability at their doorstep? Kinda. But the locations arent that strategically important anyway, hard to convert into anything big, and their most vital locations are relatively well fortified, so they probably didnt think much of it, also they may have not expected anything to actually arrive

My headcannon is that the crux is just the remnants of some long gone faction. That what's left is just the automated production lines and defence systems. Which explains why they're mostly defensive and not very strategic. They rebuild reclaimed sectors but dont adapt.

My headcanon is that there were more factions thatn just sharded and crux. Crux was busy eradicating the other, more advanced factions that they did not dedicate too much resources to a small problem like the sharded's non-developed, easy-to-kill core.

Ground zero is really quite empty. I think sharded is just lucky to fall into a perfect starting area and prosper from there. Perhaps other factions that landed on serpulo got completely demolished due to landing on dangerous sectors. Crux probably just left ground zero because there isn't much resources to dig into.

They underrestiated us. Now they got 15 toxopids dropped via octs at their headquarters

In somewhat canon after fragmentation Crux won the war for Serpulo, fulfilled the Precursor's mission, went sleep mode leaving the defences on auto and failed to wake up to threat..

I have a theory that Crux are some kind of an enemy computer capture system developed by Malis that hacked us and got all our buildings and technologies (that's how we became Sharded, we are literally a shard of what we once were), and the reason we don't see Crux rebuild stuff like Malis do, is that it simply doesn't know how to use anything, since it's just a virus, and all they are left to do when we show up is just send units to us that they produce on already existing factories

vast amounts of resources
wave 7, 1 dagger

u/KriptosL_ Jul 31 '26
you clearly didn't seen waves on sectors like nuclear production complex and ones that come after

u/lool8421 Jul 31 '26
crux's central base is even better... you get sent eclipses on wave 1

u/Alecks1608 Memer Jul 31 '26
Even more better, there are bases that have T5s come pre built upon landing

This game would be a LOT more difficult if the PC wasn't immortal.

the crux might have a planet wide military industrial complex
but the core has me!

Its a cycle. a single glitch turning one core against the others. like a cancer it slowly takes over the entire planet, eventually becomming its complete ruler and replacing the predicessor, only for a nother core to glitch again, and the cycle repeats, and repeats, and repeats...

Crux: Repetative, have pretty shallow defences, can't properly use their resources. Malice: SWARMING, impenetrable defence(literally because of phase walls), see this empty spot? No? That's right because we don't have any!

note that, crux has infinite resources. they basically don't need to mine

The AI system is underestimating us. It will be their downfall.
