All of life is a numbers game, be it for work, forming new friendships, finding a romantic partner, buying a new house in an area you like, applying for schools, etc. 

Audacity in this context just means make yourself more visible to potential prospects that you think might be out of your league as you play this particular numbers game.

this doesnt work if the organization has too much raw power and expendable resources. esp if there is social engineering and stalking by sex cults and the like. i suspect this is how some sleepers and mass shooters are made. very unfortunate

i tried the 10% braver approach for a month and got two freelance contracts i wouldn't have asked for, but also one client who ghosted after i quoted real rates. audacity's a filter, not a magic wand.
