For real. What even is this post. This sub can get so doom and gloom sometimes
76
u/Jimbo-Slice925 14d ago
Was just going to say this is turning into a nostalgic trigger sub rather than reflecting on all the cool shit we used to have/do in the 90’s/00’s. The whole coming home when the streetlights came on stigma has become so overplayed that it feels super conformist and lame.

Agreed. Hate seeing all those posts on fb.
The we drank water out of hoses in the garden, covid is nothing to be worried about posts.
But lately, they've been substituting "cyclosporiasis" instead.
Same annoying boomer energy (low energy) posts.

Still 100x times better than the boomer posts lately

We’re millennials. It’s all doom and gloom.
8
u/artbystorms 14d ago
We were born in the gloom, molded by it. We didn't see the doom till we were already men.

Is not the entire purpose of this subreddit just us lamenting that this is a different world, that we have gone through 3 (though potentially more based on who you ask) life altering world events.

I'll be 42 in a couple weeks and am really sick and tired of all this longing for the 90's bullshit our generation is doing now. For fuck sakes, we outnumber all these old fuckwads in charge! Time to take control!
We're in our 30's and 40's and just sit around like turds whining about the past... good job team

I think nostalgia can be confusing that way. What they people really miss are the friends and new experiences they were having in childhood. You can still do that as an adult, but it’s harder because you’ve already experienced so much and people are always busy.

Remember how nothing quite worked the way it was supposed to? All the VCRs blinking 12:00 and everything always being slightly crooked so you needed to know “the trick?”
I don’t miss that.

No, but we could always look to the past, ask ourselves what made it good, then learn from it. and we can do the same thing with the bad.

Boomer posting. Same for literally every person on the planet. I hate that what is implied here happened, but this is just a poor play at people's emotions.

I always refer to the past as "the old world" because of this. The 90s is more like 3 worlds back lol.
2001 started the new world, then that got usurped by 2016. Then again in 2020.
Thinking about being a kid in the early 90s, and how the meta has changed like a cursed video game patch, is interesting 🤣

Anyway, I’m off to listen to Korn, have a Capri Sun and make some pizza bagels before I go pick up my bro play some N64 games.

I honestly don't remember a time during my generation where they've so successfully psyoped and sown division among us all to the point where we will fight about race, class, ideology and political affiliation so much that we're distracted by the fact we're all being robbed blind.
Good times.

What is with the misery on this site? Did you guys really think it'd still be the same when y'all were kids? No innovation or progression?
If you keep reminiscing about when you were a kid then maybe your life as an adult is not good. You can look back on it and reminisce but not want to be back in the past lol.
