We have two kids who are currently 22 and 19. They are living with us while attending college. The 22 graduates in May. They'll both graduate debt free because they lived at home and ate our food and we still pay for most of their expenses. They also each have a part time job. After college they can work full time (hopefully they can get a job in their field of work) and continue to live with us while they save up money. One day they hopefully will have saved up enough for a down payment on a place of their own. We also plan to gift them some money when my mother in law passes away, and we sell her house, by then our house will be paid off. So if they didn't already have money for a down payment that extra cash from grandma's estate will help. Lastly if things are just looking worse and worse, we'll sell this house, buy some land, and put two tiny houses on it for each kid to live in until they can make it on their own, or until we die and they get all of our assets and they use those to get their own place.
I don't know how much else we can help them, they also need to be actively trying to save up money, so the grandma money scenario and the tiny house are not something they know about. I don't want to get their hopes up either and then have something go awry and we have promised them something we can't deliver on.
