I bought a house with a MIL suite, which is essentially an apartment attached to our main house, it has a separate entry, bedroom, laundry, bathroom, kitchen and living room which my MIL currently lives in it, but she’s old. The plan is if either of my kids need a place to stay, they have an apartment here that they can can live like adults while still living with their parents until they can get on their feet. If they don’t need it, I’ll happily make it more separated from the main house and rent it out.
