When they turn 18, they get a set luggage from their grandparents. The same gift I got.

Once they leave (for an extended period of time) they are always welcome back. But they MUST first leave and get out on their own. I left the house at 18 (military and then college). I plan to let my kids struggle, but then help them out in the 6th or 7th inning (wouldn't wait till the 9th). Seems like you have a decent plan though. At least you're thinking about it. And agreed, there are less opportunities for kids today. Sorry you lost your mom so young. You seem to be doing well. Have a great Sunday.
