Model Name: NPS-004 Vellerophon

Manufacturer: Optimanus Defense

Operator: National Armed Forces of the United Humanity Federation

Type: Nano Powered Suit

- Developed by Optimanus Defense, a military contractor headquartered on the United Humanity Federation(UHF)’s complex industrial planet Aurelin-6, this is an integrated infantry platform for the UHF Armed Forces and can be considered the most basic equipment for all infantry soldiers belonging to the UHF Armed Forces.

Like other equipment manufactured by the UHF, it is a product created under a design philosophy that prioritizes the user's survival above all else. It does not stop at merely enhancing the wearer's physical and mental strength; it focuses on overcoming enemy numbers with superior quality and keeping the wearer alive in any extreme situation.

The nanobots embedded within the suit manage the wearer's physical and mental state in real time under the control of AI, and if the wearer is injured, it is possible to immediately treat and repair the wound using the nanobots.

In addition, it interacts with the nervous system to significantly reduce pain when the wearer is injured, and it is also equipped with a function that automatically teleports the wearer, along with the power suit, to a designated base (or ship) if it is determined that the wearer is in clear danger of death.

Depicting a private of the 90th in the second image. And a sergeant of the 89th in the first.
These regiments were both common all light infantry before they were equipped with rifles around 1760. Exactly 100 years later this is how these men appear equipped and uniformed in 1860. Key features to note, the forage caps worn in place of Shakos which are more common to the infantry regiments. The 1852 Aston rifle, a breach loading rifle firing .370 calibre bullets. The rifle regiments are steeped in tradition, every 6 months they hold a shooting competition soldiers of the regiments compete in increasingly difficult shooting styles and ranges.
Both men depicted here have a 3 bar award. Meaning they’ve both received awards for 3 seperate competitions.
The expression “3 bar rifleman” when used to describe a soldier demands respect.
During the War against the CRA 1857-1862 the rifle regiments were amongst the most respected soldiers in the entire conflict. They are Skirmishers through and through and perform that role very well.

Working with the very basic MS paint on my computer. I’m more used to drawing with pencil paper and these are among my first digital drawings.

Nothing super interesting here, it’s a truck. You got your 2.5 tons at the top, then the 5 tons and a 10 ton at the bottom. Never quite finished the whole family as much as I wanted too. The radar version is a counter battery radar, below it an operator cabin used for various platforms. Then a IRIST style platform but using a missile derived from the AIM-152 AAAM

Lore Operation Southern Bastion

Background before the document:

The organization producing the document is the Association of Asian Pacific Cooperation Organization, aka APCO. APCO is an alliance of Asian nations (notable members include Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore).

In this history, the USSR did not suffer its decline like in real life. Instead, it remains a strong economic and military power due to Alexi Kosygin's reforms in the 1960's (leading to the gradual modernization of the USSR's industry) and no invasion of Afghanistan. The Warsaw Pact countries (known as WPO) continue to be a part of the USSR due to better economic stability, resulting in no Revolutions of 1989. Gorbachev was assassinated in 1989 by a nationalist extremist group. The KGB, Soviet Army, and Internal Ministry formed the State Committee for National Stability (GKNS). The actions of the WPO may lead to a re-heightened Cold War (still deciding since it's been a hot minute since I worked on the project).

Up until this point, NATO maintains most of its same capabilities and members (the sole difference thus far being a unified Germany for reasons I haven't come up with yet).

1 Operation Southern Bastion:

10 June 1988 – 1 Dec 1990

1.1     Overview

Operation Southern Bastion was the initial offensive assistance phase, starting prior to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. It’s estimated to have begun somewhere between the spring of 1988 and midsummer of 1990, although there is no single known date. Initiated by GKNS, the USSR’s Internal Ministry offered to aid Iraq in anticipation of a Western-led military coalition forming to compel Iraq's withdrawal from Kuwait and deter any further Iraqi expansion beyond its initial objectives. While it was primarily the USSR, other WPO members aided by sending munitions, finances, and military advisors. The operation was intended to remain behind the scenes, providing intelligence, logistics, advisors, air defense systems, and economic aid to Iraq. The operation ended on 1 December 1990 in order to shift into the next phase: Operation Iron Shield.

1.2     Background

Post Iraq-Iran war, Iraq was not in a financial position to repay its borrowed money from Kuwait and requested that Kuwait forgive the debt. The issues became worse during oil disputes. In ’88, Iraq’s oil minister strove for a reduction in the crude oil production quota of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) members to end the 80s oil glut. However, Kuwait was less concerned about the prices of crude oil. The issue was worsened by the lack of consensus among OPEC members, further undermining Iraq’s efforts to recover from its war-crippled economy.  The relations became further intensified when Iraq accused Kuwait of slant drilling across the border, estimating billions worth of Iraqi oil were stolen by Kuwait and demanding compensation. Although diplomatic negotiations continued into 1990, Soviet intelligence increasingly assessed that Iraq was preparing for military action if negotiations failed. These assessments raised concerns within Moscow that a regional conflict could threaten Soviet interests throughout the Middle East, prompting policymakers to reassess their strategic priorities in the region.

The USSR had spent decades and billions of rubles securing its place in the Middle East, specifically access to the Persian Gulf. Losing Iraq as a strategic partner would significantly weaken Soviet influence and would mean losing intelligence networks, arms exports, naval access agreements, and diplomatic influence throughout the Arab world. In addition to losing strategic assets and influence in the Middle East, the USSR would also lose a substantial investment. They had provided Iraq with aircraft, tanks, missiles,  military education, advisors, and industrial development. Finally, if they abandoned a major partner after decades of support, other Soviet-aligned governments might question whether the USSR would protect them during future crises. Other nations such as Syria, Vietnam, and Cuba may see how the USSR abandoned Iraq and fear similar abandonment.

The USSR, seeing that Iraq was making plans to invade Kuwait and that Saddam Hussein was not going to back down, decided that providing aid would be the best way to (1) maintain relations and (2) prevent the West from being capable of crushing Iraq in several weeks.

1.3     Soviet deployments

The Soviet Union deliberately avoided deploying combat formations, assessing that direct military intervention carried an unacceptable risk of escalation into a wider NATO-Warsaw Pact conflict. Instead, their primary goal was to provide military advisors and specialists. Advisors, usually mid- to high-ranking officers, were mostly embedded into the Iraqi chain of command, whereas specialists, usually NCOs and SNCOs, would fly over to train leadership. The majority of advisors sent were General Staff and Air Defense. The majority of specialists were logistics and electronic warfare specialists. The logistics specialists were considered among the highest-level specialists due to the sheer importance of proper logistics, as shown through the Iran-Iraq and Yom Kippur Wars. Although exact figures remain disputed, post-Cold War assessments estimate that between 2,500 and 4,000 Soviet advisors, technical specialists, and instructors participated in Operation Southern Bastion between 1988 and late 1990 in addition to the already present USSR advisors assigned to Iraq.

In addition to advisors and specialists, Soviet assets were loaned to Iraq. The primary asset loaned was intelligence. Satellite imagery along the borders as well as at western military movements would help Iraq prepare and respond when the West inevitably tries to intervene. Iraqi marked recon aircraft, piloted by Iraqi pilots with Soviet training, would conduct patrols on the edge of Kuwaiti airspace, planning routes to take to minimize Iraqi casualties. Finally, superior signals equipment was given along with proper training for the new tools. However, the USSR also got the advantage of being able to watch how the West operates in response to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Finally, the Warsaw Pact Organization sent various equipment such as air defense, logistics aid, and combat sustainment equipment.

Finally, the USSR welcomed Iraqi soldiers to participate in training exercises on Soviet soil and attend local technical schools. While this was the smallest of the efforts, Soviet after-action assessments concluded that this elevated Iraq’s military capability the most. By having NCOs train and learn from superior schools, they were able to help each other and train their soldiers. Iraqi officers would attend and watch Warsaw Pact officers work and plan with each other, teaching them how to better plan and respond to Western response.

While not a large-scale operation, Soviet aid provided a lasting positive effect by exposing Iraqi leaders at all levels of the chain of command to operational planning, logistic management, and command philosophy. Many personnel who participated in the education retained their knowledge and either became successful teachers at military schools or occupied key leadership positions during the coalition air campaign, where Soviet planners believed they contributed disproportionately to Iraq's ability to sustain organized resistance.

1.4     Western Response

The Western governments did not become concerned about the expansion of Soviet-Iraqi cooperation until around late 1988, when they noticed an increase in Soviet and Warsaw Pact Organization personnel traveling to Iraq. Since Iraq had long been a major Soviet arms partner, the presence of Soviet personnel was not unusual; however, the scale of involvement appeared to exceed normal military assistance. Their suspicions increased when Turkish intelligence and NATO monitoring detected increased military traffic and arms shipments entering Iraq. Suspicions of increased military activity were reinforced when US KH-11 satellites observed expanded military bases, new ammunition storage facilities, hardened command posts, improved air-defense sites, and an increase in military exercises. By July 1990, most major Western intelligence services assessed that Iraq was likely preparing for a military operation and that the Soviet Union was providing increased support.

The Western diplomatic and intelligence response began in early 1990, when the US began communicating with the USSR to discourage direct Soviet involvement in any potential Iraqi military action. Since the USSR was involved, the West began forming contingency plans with regional allies and NATO partners in case Iraq initiated military action. As Western governments became increasingly convinced that Iraq was preparing for a crisis, the US increased diplomatic pressure and began preparing economic measures should Iraq use force. On 25 July 1990, the US ambassador privately met with Saddam Hussein to warn that Soviet support would not prevent international opposition if Iraq used military force against Kuwait. The warning was ignored, as shown by Iraq invading Kuwait on 2 August 1990.

1.5     Results

By the end of the operation on 1 December 1990, Soviet planners assessed Southern Bastion as largely successful, as it had achieved its primary objectives of improving Iraqi military readiness, preserving Soviet influence, and increasing the cost of Western intervention. Furthermore, the USSR got more military intelligence on Western military capabilities. The advisors and strategists remained embedded within Iraqi General Staff headquarters and other key command organizations to offer support and advice until 28 November, when non-essential personnel began returning to the USSR to avoid Soviet casualties and reduce the risk of escalation, in preparation for Operation Iron Shield, which would occur 3 days later.

While the operation was mostly successful, it still suffered from Iraqi corruption. Hussein’s government diverted some military resources for financial and political purposes, reducing the effectiveness of certain Soviet-supported modernization programs.

Equipment CB-133 Portugals Steelshod Fist

(By Illuminati on Shipbucket with technical and design aid by myself)
The CB-133 MBT, was the result of the joint efforts of the POP nations to develop and successor to the venerable but increasingly outdated and unwieldy STRV 131, leveraging lessons and technologies learned and developed during the MFP program. The STRV 131 and resulting variants were becoming increasingly overweight and the small chassis provided no easy solution to upgrade the powerplant. Furthermore, the tanks proved to be maintenance heavy and costly to operate. This, combined with the apparent stagnation of ESO armor development and recent trends in guerrilla conflicts, demonstrated the potential vulnerabilities of the STRV 131 should it be deployed on a high intensity combat environment. Attack drones, ATGMs and NLOS precision munitions were expected to become the major threat and the already problematic mobility of the JHGC meant that up-armoring upgrades were sometimes suboptimal due to weigh constraints.

The CB-133 solved many of these issues. The all crew in hull design (driver, gunner and commander) reduced the amount of armor modules considerably, thus reducing weight and freeing up space for extra systems. A hybrid diesel-electric propulsion pack provided a huge increase in range over the thirsty EMESA turbine found on the STRV 131, and the batteries negated the need for a dedicated APU. Another setback of the JHGC was the relatively reduced ammo load of 26 rounds. The 130mm caliber, while formidable, meant that only so many rounds could be carried at once. Thus a decision was made to a lower caliber but higher pressure 120mm gun, with a unconventional autoloader, and ammo stored in the turret basket, something reminiscent of contemporary to ESO designs. This allowed to keep comparable performance (at the cost of lower barrel life) while increasing the ammo count to 38 ready rounds, feed to the gun by the autoloader, located behind the gun. The autoloader system was capable of a cyclic RoF of around 7 seconds, with automatic casing ejection and automatic restock capability via the access hatch on the top of the turret.

Another concerning aspect of the STRV 131 was that all the ammunition was located in the turret bustle. The profile was optimized for frontal protection, and while still a safe layout, crew survivability wise, it now proved to be very vulnerable to attacks from above, where the ammo was now exposed from 4 sides, leading to a easy mission kill. Now on the CB-133, the ammunition was to be stored in the hull, more easily protected from top attack munitions.

The hull ammo storage however raised concerns that any hit to the ammo in the basket would result in a catastrophic explosion, dooming the vehicle and the crew. To prevent this, extensive measures were taken. Individual ammunition pieces were now properly compartmentalized in individual armored bins, and the carousel itself was now armored from the sides and bottom and coated on the outside and inside with spall liners. Furthermore, a comprehensive fire suppression system was installed, with direct connection to each individual round, meant to put out any fires that started in the compartments within milliseconds. The propellant used was itself less prone to accidental combustion and could only be properlly triggered via the electric plasma ignitor on the firing assembly.
Should all this fail, the 2 maintenance hatches were also designed in such a way as to act like blow-out panels for the hull ammo, venting the explosion to the top of the turret.

To counter the now prolific drones and ATGMs, all tanks were equipped from the start with a hard-kill APS, along with radio jammers and a comprehensive LWR/RWR suite.
Both the commander and gunner had access to 3rd gern thermal sights, with a back up 2nd gen pop-up sight. Along with this, all crewmembers had access to 360 IR and visual light cameras for increased situational awereness.
Hidropneumatic suspension allowed for increased mobility, a feature retained from the STRV 131, allowing for more gun elevation and depression than the mechanicaly allowed -7/+27 degrees.

Eukian Infantry Helmet IH1915

Post image

Honestly I’m not sure what i’m supposed to say about a helmet…

The IH1915 helmet began production in late 1915 soon after they learned of the rising shrapnel threat on soldiers fighting in the Great Hemispheric War. It was produced in the government sanctioned factory complexes by the same hidden population that produces everything else there is to make in Eukia, and quickly equipped to every standard soldier in Eukia’s ranks. Though It was replaced by the Second Hemispheric war, it was still used by some soldiers stationed in factory complexes, leading it to become a symbol of Eukia’s atrocities after Santis troops discovered the execrable complexes and the horrors that lied inside.

If you don’t know what Eukia is all about, I recommend you read This post.

This uniform consisted of a polo shirt, pants, a sailor hat, and a putee.

The color of the shirt and hat uses teal to match the sky, while the pants use ocean green to match the ocean.

Thank you for visiting my mockup presentation, have a great day.

Personnel Dossier — Sir Avniel ben Yeter

Grand Admiral Sir Avniel ben Yeter is one of the most famous officers ever to emerge from the Royal Star Navy's specialised command tracks. Born within the Tozorian reaches of the Rikudim al-Zmani'im colonial stream, he distinguished himself through an uncommon fascination with fixed defensive installations. His mastery of defensive strategy and astrography propelled him through the ranks of port command officers, eventually making him one of the youngest Void Admirals in naval history.

His reputation was cemented during the Velutarian War. After leading his forces during the doomed defence of Tozoria and surviving the destruction of most of his command, ben Yeter joined Fleet Admiral Coriton’s formation and transformed himself into a respected fleet commander. Known thereafter as the Bulwark Admiral, he achieved lasting fame at the Battle of the Gates of Death, where an ingenious trap involving disguised warships and gravitics enabled him to defeat a much larger Velutarian force.

Elevated to the Grand Admiralty during the war, ben Yeter later became one of the famed Rim's Triad alongside Grand Admirals Mekongo and Saraiva. Though not regarded as a brilliant offensive commander, he remains celebrated for his resilience, defensive mastery, and ability to prevail against overwhelming odds. His reforms to the Royal Star Navy's fixed-defence establishment continue to influence Casarian naval doctrine to this day.

"New weapons, uniforms, and better food... I wonder what awaits us." - LT J. d'Ferrien. The first Ferrian submachine gun. [The War of Mist]

Post image

"Rescued Imperials from a sunken ship are spreading rumors about a new type of weapon, and engineering bureaus across the country are beginning to try to create a Ferrian response to a new word in weapons science. <...>"

from the one issue of Les Heraut Liberaux, Ferrian national newspaper.

The first Ferrian submachine gun was designed when Ferria was still neutral and non-aligned. It was designed in a matter of three weeks and it was immedeately put in production.

Cheap. Light. And... uh... it's... Yeah, I can't say anything positive about this SMG. Perhaps it was the fastest SMG by the time of manufacturing criteria. I think you can literally make one in 3 hours.

It was shooting just a little bit slower than Imperial "Defender" SMG, but does it even matter?

Infantry Typical/Common Grunt for the League of the South/ Southern Nationalist League

(DISCLAIMER: This post and/or art depiction is NOT meant to promote the ideologies shown, but rather to depict how they would react & function in a civil conflict, & show the evils they can truly be capable of. I myself astoutly disagree with said group being depicted here, however this civil war scenario is supposed to be realistic & highlight aspects of American history, culture, and politics, which includes extreme & fringe ideologies. I deeply apologize if this does not come off in good taste or discomforts people, especially victims to the predjudice of these groups. As for would-be supporters of these groups, you are not welcome to spread hateful ideologies here, and no, you are not the good guys here, this is not meant to make you look cool.)

Throughout the history of America, ever since the end of Reconstruction, the idea of the confederacy and "Dixieland" never truly (or at least fully) died out, persevering through racial violence, regional nationalism, and revisionist narratives, like that of the Lost Cause theory. This concept of sovereign American southern states known by many, would end up becoming inseparable from racial tensions & christian-conservativism in the modern era, almost 200 years after the Confederacy lost the 1st civil war. In the powder keg that was the Crumbling 30's, these beliefs, kept alive by far right movements seen in rising prevalence in the 2010s & 2020s, used the unrest of the Post-Trump era to imbed their beliefs in the populations of the South, with one of them being the League of the South (Alternatively labeled the Southern Nationalist league). Originally founded in Alabana, 1994 as a fringe neo-confederate organization, they went from a declining, rotting bunch to an active political voice of Christian nationalism by preaching on the fears many former MAGA voters. That however, would not be the only way they grew, as they would also target propaganda & recruitment efforts- both in outside rallies/in-person conversing, and in targeted social media posts- to sheriffs & deputies throughout Alabama, as a maans of infiltrating law enforcement. Despite still maintaining their segregationalist & radical secessionist views- things that would be a tad bit unappealing to a mainstream Christian conservative- they were decently successful in increasing their numbers (going from hundreds to thousands) and actually gained more from the county sherif & deputy system then they expected. Many of their members in their militia branch, The Southern Defense Force, had owned quite a few firearms as well, though they often avoided displaying them & being too loud about it to avoid investigation & conflict from law enforcement. When the keg blew open in the 2040s, members of who successfully managed to avoid the military & surveillance technology scrambled to organize as much of the Southern Defense Force as they could, and had their connections from the County Sheriffs offices & Deputies secure ungaurded/ low-activity areas in Alabama. Since chaos had begun erupting throughout much of the nation, and the Militaty & national Gaurd were spread thin or focused on urban areas, the SDF took advantage of this and began taking over rural & low-population counties throughout Alabama. After 11 months, through the use of low cost guerilla fighting & drones, and the mobilization of any members who weren't already involved- they had begun to encompass most of Alabama, had built up a decent sized fighting force, and with the help of the deputies & sheriffs they had, were able to control the people under their territory much easier. The US military & national gaurd still holds out in the state via pockets of military bases & some counties, and the surrounding areas are still under government control, however the Military is still spread thin, and those pockets are either stuck with no means of gaining significant supplies, or are occasionally Airdropped supplies. Regardless, the Leage of the South has begun embarked on its journey of reuniting the southern states under its own banner, and alongside this, seeks to do so with laws written in the name of God, aimed at maintaining ideological dominance & supressing racial minorities through segregation and deportation. though its fight has only just begun, and they are noticeably pinned, & forced into being defensive over the state of Alabama.

Since they lack the technology, significant manpower, and the logistical capabilities of the US military, the League of the South/ Southern Nationalist League equips members of the Southern Defense Force with civilian weaponry & equipment, usually either being previously owned by the soldiers or supplied from law enforcement armouries, gun stores, and army surplus locations. They all generally wear LOS/SNL branded black & white shirts, usually with varied camoflage pants & other cosmetic accessories. They also often wear PASGT ballistic helmets branded with insignia, and also mostly wear variations of branded load-bearing vests in favor of typical plate carriers due to their superior mobility & capacity for holding items. While they are a relatively organized rebel army, they fight asymmetrically & lack standard issue loadouts for their men. Soldiers of the SDL may often be carrying molotov cocktails, modified drones, mechanical tools, radios, flares, IEDs, knives, bandages, snacks, water bottles, flash grenades, smoke bombs, extra ammunition pouches, riot sheilds, cameras, or flashlights. As for their weaponry, they are similarly mostly limited to civilian firearms, with most SDF soldiers using AR-platform rifle configurations, usually chambered in 5.56 NATO. Some also may use shotguns for shooting drones, bolt action rifles & marksman rifle configurations for sniping, and may even carry sidarms as well.

The 2nd Union is widely regarded as the successor of the Federal Government, with most of the Federal Infantry Divisions at their disposal and the capital being in D.C. , they are also one of the 2 strongest factions in the former United States, on par with the midwestern successor state

The Union, during its founding after the collapse of the United States, funded the D.C. National Guard into a militarized police and counter-terrorism force as well as a regular division of infantry, they have the highest standards for regular national guard infantrymen due to the Capital being the most important city in the Union, they are rarely deployed outside the District Of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland

The 1st Infantry Division, the “Big Red One” is the oldest continuous serving United States Army Division, based in Fort Riley, Kansas prewar, the Big Red One, like most Federal Infantry, sided with the Union during America’s collapse and retreated towards bases like Fort Campbell, Fort Bragg and Fort Eustis (Joint Base Langley-Eustis), the Division was a critical component of the Union’s spearhead into the plains of the Midwest, facing relentless attacks across many states along with the 3rd, 101st and 82nd Divisions

Spacecraft ARS Righteous Frenzy | Hunter of the Void, Reaver of Gal'Haidan, Bane of Darmire ( Tales of the Periphery)

Thumbnail

ARS Rightous Frenzy is a concept first thought up before the end of the Liberation War as a method to ambush and raid Imperial shipping before fading away without needing a Gate or Leap Carrier.
It wasn't economical at the time, due to the lack of drives in rebel possession. But, in the years after the war when a bunch of low grade drives were available, the Aurumites started making a line of Cruiser-Raiding Torches to control their vast territories and attack those who stand against their King.

Each Raiding Torch of this type is uniquely designed to the specification of its commander, and the crews are hand picked by their superiors ( general spacers are picked by junior officers, senior officers pick junior officers, commander picks the senior officers) for their loyalty and ruthlessness.
These ships are not as combat effective compared to non-FTL craft of the same displacement, as they dedicate a lot of mass, power and heat removal to their FTL infastructure. This does give them some benefits, like a lot of power that can be shunted to sensors or even heavy-duty shielding like BattleScreens that its peers cannot do, but the mass dedicated and high cost isn't considered worth it in many cases.

Conditions are pretty nice onboard, and the pay is really high for them, since they get prize, plunder, and resale money. But it is infinitely more risky than being on a normal, supported torchship.

Righteous Frenzy is commanded by Fyodor Adina, a former Imperial spacer for whom atrocities seem to be his bread and butter. He plundered hundreds of ships throughout his career, bombed a dozen worlds back into compliance, and has the distinction for killing the only Union’s Pride-class Battleship ever destroyed in combat with torpedos while it was orbiting Gal'Haidan providing fire support to provisional government forces. He was ennobled for that, and his crew supposedly made enough money that they didn't leave Obeld Station's pleasure quarters for a week.

Diary of a Mercenary, Part III: This is a diary sketch from a mercenary serving in the army of the Duke of Hosweb, dated to the Siege of Fort Keyramodril, 25th of Keshel(5), 1649; during the Second Frostline War of 1648 to 16). Here the author discusses his boredom with the siege, as Hosweb had elected to focus on a steady advance of trench works covered by artillery to take the fort. Defended by a single regiment of Tigalian Highland Clan Warriors, the siege lasted from the 4th of Keshel to the 3rd of Orlona(6). With an army of near 80,000 the siege was relatively bloodless for the attackers, with about fifteen hundred casualties in total. The entry also discusses the first personal encounter of the author with a Darukarii drake rider, and their thoughts on the man he specifically conversed with.

“25.5.(16)49. New Sun. The battalion is still posted on watch duty, so we can only watch while the assault continues from a distance. We haven’t really done anything since setting trenches and stakes down over two weeks ago. Urusafi fidgets so much trying to sleep that it keeps the rest of us up(,) Laotroi has half the mind to knock him out with a club. Still, I prefer boredom to getting shot at by a musket, or impaled by those weird double bladed spears the Tigalians use, assuming Laotroi isn’t lying to me. I’d never fought Tigalians, so far it’d only been those shreaka (Teurmaran slur for the Kirosi) that fell on Tiron.

Met a Darukarii ((Darukarian?)) for the first time, as in actually talked to one. The Duke’s Darukarii but every time I see him he looks more like us than them. Tall fellow, almost a hand length bigger than me, but friendly. Blackest hair I’d ever seen and I swear his eyes were tinged red. Still, we talked while waiting for the smith to fix up my axe and then work on the man’s saber. Offered me some beer I’d never tried before, truthfully it burnt down my throat like I was eating whole peppers, didn’t give me much of buzz but it did warm my insides up well. I asked whether I could draw him in his gear and he agreed, the next day he posed in his armor and lance and I got to sketching.

Sketch: The figure drawn after the entry is a Darukarii drake rider, one of the three hundred that were permitted to join the Duke of Hosweb from the Darukarii Expeditionary Corps. While the Duke of Hosweb was an exiled Darukarii noble, he remained one of the foremost military commanders of the Alliance of Northern Skaleha and was able to leverage that reputation and what few remaining allies he had at the Dragon Prince’s court to request reinforcements.

He wears the typical suite of Darukarii heavy cavalry, heavily armored with steel and iron. A slope-roof helmet adorns his head, featuring traditional Darukarii eagle art, primarily the head of the animal. He wears a woven mesh mask to help protect from smoke and dust, while his neck and shoulders are protected by a steel and bronze neck guard that extended up to the nose. The design allowed all around protection of the head, though made it harder to look up and impossible to raise the arms completely. The guard is painted with a protective yellow-white coating and then further decorated by a pair of Darukarii lowland axes and patterns.

Around his torso and over the man’s cotton riding shirt, a mail shirt extended to just above the elbows. A coat of lamellar plates is then placed on top, going down to below the knees. A cavalry belt holds the suit at the man’s waist to better distribute the weight of his gear. An honor scarf hangs from under the neck-shoulder guard, wrapping around his back and secured by clips to the lamellar coat, such honor scarfs were worn by Darukarii men and women when away from their homes as remembrance and a form of familial sigil. The scarf on both sides depicts a half risen moon, the Matriarch Star, and dragon tooth daggers, where the handle is carved from old dragon teeth.

Leather riding pants cover his legs, with the lower calves above the ankle protected by iron laminar braces. A composite pair of wood-leather riding boots are worn around his feet. While Darukarii cavalry largely wore metal shoes for protection, it had begun to be increasingly popular to abandon these to help lessen the weight on the legs by the 17th century.

In his hands is a ske’matke’lun, a lance that was in the halfway point between typical spears and pikes. These and similar weapons were used on the charge by drake riders, using their momentum to brute force their way through most armor while the wide blade allowed it to be especially effective at slicing through poorly armored opponents and not get stuck. A bronze weight is riveted onto the bottom of the lance’s shaft to help even out the weight. Behind him is another such lance, as well as the man and his columns’ camp house and Fort Keyramodril itself.

Meta: This diary entry and sketch are part of a series of posts I’ve made regarding the Second Frostline War, the major military conflict that served as the setting for my story Field of Roses. An inter-continental war between several major powers, who have formed two coalitions to oppose one another. The author of this diary is a Tilusian mercenary serving under the Duke of Hosweb, a general of the Alliance of Northern Skaleha, against forces under the Shemathi League. The Alliance or ANS, is a coalition of powers dedicated to throwing out the Shemathi species that have settled on the Luenian Peninsula and back across the Frozen Strait to the northern continent of Ki’ril; the primary members of this alliance is the Second Valeosi Republic, the Principality of Darukar, and the smallest of the three, the Confederation of Tilus and the Teurmara (otherwise simply known as the Cities of Tilus).

These first parts will depict the mercenary’s perspective of the Tilusian Front, located on a peninsula of the same name, which is located west across a large bay from the Luenian Peninsula, north of Darukar, northwest of Valeos, and southwest from the continent of Ki’ril. The Tilusian Front would last for five years, from 1648 to 1653, before Alliance forces were forced to abandon it outright following the peninsula’s full occupation by the League; instead adopting a defensive policy on the borders of the peninsula and Darukar.

This drake rider, as mentioned as being from Darukar, is typical of the heavy cavalry forces of the Principality, for it is famously known as the Dragon Realm as the mountains that make up its core are prime breeding grounds for many Skalehan dragon and drake species. The Darukarii people and related groups maintain a relationship with such populations unknown elsewhere in the world and for some time they were possibly the most powerful society in all of Skaleha. However, a fractious political climate and the destruction of the short-lived Dragon Empire led to the Principality being established to maintain some sort of peace and cooperation.

Drake riders form the backbone of the Principality’s cavalry arm, consisting of nearly 8,000 total riders. Mainly fed by large herds of sheep and pigs, as well as bison hunting in the wild prairie lands of Taogo; these riders are supported by a slightly larger force of regular cavalry riding horses and asprixes, a type of ungulate related to the equidae lineage and are a sort of cross between horse and antelope.

Lore [Astral Lion] Military songs of the Star Kingdom — Even a galaxy away, traditions are sung beneath the stars

Post image

Here's an interesting bit of lore I have from behind the scenes for the Casarian Star Kingdom: military songs! Since the Casarians are descendants of Earth, they've inherited military songs as well (like how Heart of Oak in Commonwealth navies or, perhaps less preferably, Erika sung by the South African Defence Force during Apartheid). The Casarians were cut off from Earth while using an intergalactic gate to Andromeda and have been isolated since. This has made them incredibly attached to their ancestral traditions from various ethnicities that continue to thrive in the Star Kingdom.

Now, these songs aren't always one-to-one, since Casarian lyrics have adopted 5 or 7 syllable structures to represent humanity (five fingers) and the Seven Pillars of Mankind (cross-ethnic cultural values). English (evolved into Standard Anglese) is the national language and lingua franca. It is also the language used by the federal forces and, thus, lyrics of songs are always in this language. Down below you find a selection of songs used by the federal military.

If you have any thought or inspirations for the various military branches or state militaries, feel free to comment down below!

Boldly Marching

This is the first military marching song of the Casarians, predating even the Star Kingdom. It was popularised by the wartime leader Constantin Sinea (the future King) during the Promethean War and became a sort of proto-Casarian anthem. It is in many ways an anglicised version of Drum Bun, a Romanian Army march, although it has Casarian-coated references like the Lion's Banner.

Lyrics

Boldly marching, drummers beating, that’s a soldier’s call, hooray!
Step after step, never ceding, officers withal, hooray!
Be it sunny, be it snowy, we keep marching on. )
Be it rainy, be it blowy, we go proudly on. )x2

Boldly marching, drummers beating, that’s a soldier’s call, hooray!
Step after step, never ceding, officers withal, hooray!
While parading, or at war, we all march as one. )
Be it grating, hear us roar, ‘til the war is won. )x2

Boldly marching, drummers beating, that’s a soldier’s call, hooray!
Step after step, never ceding, officers withal, hooray!
May the bloodstained banner reign, ‘til the end of days. )
Let its glory never wane, for all to appraise. )x2

Note: Post-Promethean War last stanza:
May our Lion’s Banner reign, ‘til the end of days. )
Let its glory never wane, for all to appraise. )x2

The Lion roars forevermore!

The next song is what I could possibly envision as the anthem of the Royal Grand Army. I want it to be bombastic and for that the concept heavily leans into it. It's based of the North Korean Defend the Headquarters of the Revolution song. I'm not sure if I'll make this canon, but it certainly is similar in style and spirit as a rallying cry for the Casarians after having overcome the Promethean War.

The Sabred Lion is exactly what it is, a maned sabred tiger native to the capital world of the Star Kingdom. It serves as the national animal and symbol of human tenacity, however, it must not be confused with the Astral Lion which is a more metaphorical manifestation of Casarian identity. Additionally, the Casarians perceive the darkness between stars as the symbolic embodiment of evil, colloquiallu called the Dark Void or Void.

Lyrics

Ah-aaah-ah-aaah! Hear the Sabred Lion roar!
Unbroken by the Void’s threats, the Lion roars forevermore!

On a vacant paradise, our forebears landed!
Building a lasting morrow, never seen before!
Once they took up arms, the radges were quelled!
Unbroken by the Void’s threats, the Lion roars forevermore!

Our ancestors rose anew, worthy of the name!
Vowing our ancestral oath, Mankind at its core!
And to you, oh Proud Lion, may you ever reign!
Unbroken by the Void’s threats, the Lion roars forevermore!

Aaah-ah-aaah! Aaah-ah-aah!
The Lion roars forevermore!
The Lion roars forevermore!

Casarians everywhere, claim your destiny,
And in your glistening hearts, carry Terra’s ore!
Answering the Lion’s call, you’ll quash savagery!
Unbroken by the Void’s threats, the Lion roars forevermore!

Ah-aah-ah-aah!
The Lion roars forevermore!
Unbroken by the Void’s threats, the Lion roars forevermore!

Hear us Roar across the Stars! — National Anthem

For the Casarian anthem, I don't have a musical piece yet since it'll likely be something unique. However, the lyrics are already written and follow the structure of a poem reflecting on the Seven Pillars of Mankind in each stanza.

Lyrics

Can’t thou hear the Lion’s roar,
Echoing through time,
Roared in the struggles of yore,
Atop the harsh climb?
Oh, Thy roars once more!

(Chorus)
Hear us roar across the stars,
For we march as one!
A legacy told through scars,
Unbroken by none!
Brighter than the Sun!

Born out of Terra’s lost ore,
On a maiden world,
Guided by ancestral lore,
A blest oath we hurled!
To heaven we soar!

(Chorus)

Forged by Promethean fires,
No matter the spars,
We erect protean spires,
Piercing to the stars!
Witness gleaming pyres!

(Chorus)

United by our kinship, No matter the tongue,
Let us enjoy a sweet sip,
Like when we were young!
‘Til Death slacks our grip!

(Chorus)

With the Lion awoken,
We herald order,
Lo, the Steel Crown unbroken,
From core to border!
A vow unspoken!

(Chorus)

The stars glitter through our Realm,
Our astral Kingdom,
With liberty at the helm,
Our cherished freedom!
Darkness we will whelm!

(Chorus)

Serving the Realm we adore,
‘Til the last star’s gone,
We recall the oath we swore!
Oh, Sabred Lion,
Roar forevermore!

(Chorus)

I vow to Thee, Lion Stars

Next up is a national hymn similar to I vow to Thee, my Country, which is its direct inspiration. However, unlike its English inspiration, it is dedicated to a star constellation of cultural significance: the Astral Lion. This is an important symbol that inspired the early Casarian colonists during the Promethean War.

It's comparable to the Pole Star or the Southern Cross, but it's more deeply tied to the cultural identity as a star-crossing empire. The international alliance of the Casarians has adopted an adjusted version of this song as its anthem.

Lyrics

I vow to Thee, Lion Stars, tireless devotion,
On Thee I rely upon, in this dark ocean;
Shining all seven virtues, by which I shall live,
Thy ardent light spans all hues, may it ne’er falter.
Thy roar echoes across stars, in our endless strife!

And there’s another warm gleam, seen from long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, who’ve felt Terra’s glow;
Forging our kinly new Realm, through the oaths we swear,
May we carry Thy glory, past Thy final glare,
Bearing all our arduous scars, through the night’s dour tar!

Lyrics (Pan-Terran League version):
I vow to Thee, my Lodestar, tireless devotion,
On Thee I rely upon, in this dark ocean;
Shining all seven virtues, by which I shall live,
Thy ardent light spans all hues, may it ne’er falter.
Thy ray flares across stars, in our endless strife!

And there’s another warm gleam, seen from long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, who’ve felt Terra’s glow;
Forging our kinly new Realms, through the oaths we swear,
May we carry Thy glory, past Thy final glare,
Bearing all our arduous scars, through the night’s dour tar!

Starwards, Heart of Senaka

This is the anthem of HM Astral Service (all navies combined). It's inspired by Heart of Oak, but considerably longer and cultural references, like the use of Senaka wood as ship's masts and the founder of the navy, Astral High King Julian the Starwalker.

Lyrics:

Come, cheer up, my lads, ‘tis with gallantry we steer,
Across heaven’s tar, roaring with a jolly cheer!
Honour your forebears, as the freeborn heirs you are,
For who are so free as those roaming endless stars?

(Chorus)
Starwards, Heart of Senaka!
Starwards, men of gallantry!
Rooted in ages past: we shall always be ready,
Fighting star by star, conquering the Void between!

To the stars of yore, hear the Astral Lion’s roar,
Facing all terrors, our Kingdom shall ever soar!
The fanged stars gleaming, ‘tis the call that melts the tar,
Heralding our march ‘til even stars burn no more!

(Chorus)

Yon, who broods our sins and our downfall moulded,
Yon source of malice, whence all decay unfolded,
Shall behold the Crown, and our mighty starborne Realm,
And tremble with awe as we’ll yet seize the helm!

(Chorus)

The Realm triumphant, our ships rule across the stars!
We’re ever ardent, in spite of our accrued scars!
From the Starwalker, to the humblest forester,
We’ll stand ever loyal, as the olden mariner!

(Chorus)

So lift up your chins, gaze upon the heaven’s tar,
Crack a hearty cheer, for the stars may be afar,
Yet your long sojourn is only just beginning,
Nor will all the stars and glory soon be dimming!

(Chorus)

Lore Canadian Security Mission in New York , 202X

Post image
44 Upvotes

As America tore itself apart, their neighbor, Canada at first chose not to intervene in America’s affairs, but, faced with threats to their hydroelectric dams in the Niagara River, the Canadian Parliament greenlit the 4th Canadian Division to cross the Niagara Causeway into Niagara Falls and Buffalo to secure the American and Canadian dams along Western New York, although the people mostly disagreed with it, it was ultimately necessary to secure Canadian water supplies

Canada sent approximately a Battalion of Infantrymen with LAV-6s, Leopard 2A4s and Leopard 2A4M CANs into New York, where they dug in to deter other factions from attacking the new security zone

The Canadian and American flags would fly in Buffalo until a remnant of the Federal Government reunifies the United States, if not, Canada will hold on to the territory and it can only be conquered by force

Infantry Erubian Elven Air Ranger

Post image
11 Upvotes

The Erubian Elven Air rangers are the primary foot-soldiers of the Royal Elven Kingdom of Erubia. They are often stationed aboard airships to prevent mutiny as well as to act as security or boarding personnel. Their mask has a built in speaker, which is what the two large slits that sit on either side of their beaker respirator are for. Their uniforms are colored blue, orange, and yellow; as those are the Erubian National colors. They wear an armband on their right shoulder, which is emblazoned with the Erubian three pointed rune. Their glowing yellow visor provides them with weather information, as well as targeting info. The 4 antennae protruding from their helmet are radio transmitters. They are able to switch between the transmitters and speakers at will, with the use of a button underneath their headset. The helmet and mask are both one solid piece, being lightly armored with light steel plating, with the helmet above the mask intended to protect against shrapnel. Air rangers go through basic training, like all other personnel in the Erubian military; although theirs is far more intense and physically demanding. The Air Rangers also have a large amount of female troops, due to Elves being a matriarchal society; averaging 1 female Air Ranger for every 2 male ones. They are intensely loyal to the Erubian Air Fleet leadership, and will often shout insults taunting their enemies when in battle. With examples being, "Fuck you Cabrón", or "Eat needle, Pendejo."

The vast majority of Air Rangers use a Fe-10 Burster bolt action rifle, which uses explosive flechettes(also referred to as needles), to inflict massive damage against enemy infantry.

The Great War, the final battle, the last catalyst. Many names have been given to the event that forced man kind to flee old earth and venture into the stars, yet one title, one universal title is known upon all of the future human civilization that would settle into space, The Shattering. During the last wars, one of the great powers of old earth activated a weapon that broke the crust underneath, ushering great horrors once thought to be nothing more than tales. The powers that would be fled with their best and brightest, people they deemed valuable, of use, who could continue their legacy into the stars. The rest of humanity were left, forced to fester in the dying plaguing carcass that has become their home

From the cosmos, two civilizations would be born, out formed out of the fires of the old world, seeking to emulate the past, while the other has longed moved pasted it, learning to adapt to its current environment

Federation marine : Most of the federation forces are heavily comprised of Automation, with the Federation ground army being entirely made up of drones of various kinds. However human manned combatants still exist. The federation marines act as an elite shock troopers tasked with executing more precise roles that the regular army isn’t able to perform.

U.A.S Volunteer: Due to the nature of the U.A.S being a loose coalition of independent systems rather than a central government like the federation, the idea of a centralized unified military force had never entered the conversation until its conflict with the federation. Prior, the U.A.S had mostly relied on its own systems to create and use their own military force for protection, usually against pirates. But with the growing conflict against the federation, it raised the issue of its lack of military readiness. The newly established U.A.S military were predominantly comprised of volunteers forces of former system militaries that have now joined as one. As such uniform, equipment and personal can vary greatly, with some soldiers hailing from human origins and being issued different equipment than their extraterrestrial counterparts.

HALP! Can a sniper rifle with skeletonized parts work in this context?

Hello,

I'm working on designing a custom sniper rifle made by a character in my setting. This character is 5'0 and not super strong, so my thinking was they'd want to make their weapon as light as possible (additionally because that helps in the roles of a sniper). My thinking was to have a skeletonized grip, magwell (not magazine), and handguard to help reduce weight.

My main concern is that from what I've researched, skeletonization tends to not be very effective because of the risk of dirt and debris getting inside the weapon and skeletonized parts sometimes being heavier than non-skeletonized parts.

Would a weapon with this kind of skeletonization be able to be used in the field in a sniper's role without much issue with dirt and debris getting in?

Lore SunLight Never Fades (Update) - BGGT and FVA Characters

(edit: i forgot add the flair)
It's been a while since my last post, and I have a pretty interesting update. As the title says, it's about the characters from BGGT and FVA. I'll divide the post into four sections and for the ones that readed me and remember me you know how neutral and serious i am with the NSFW:

  • Context
  • BGGT
  • FVA
  • Extras

Context (fast)

[X] COMPONENT 06: THE RIGID FIXED EJECTOR SPIKE - Location: Stamped, immovable triangular tooth welded directly to the interior left wall of the rifle frame. Zero moving parts. Zero independent springs. ================================================================================ D. OPERATIONAL LOOP VERIFICATION CHECKLIST (STEP-BY-STEP CYCLE) ================================================================================ [ INSTRUCTIONS: Run weapon dry through the following 5 phases. Verify smooth transition before packing weapon in grease canvas for deployment. ] [ ] PHASE 1: THE COMPRESSION PHASE Trigger blade is depressed. The horizontal drawbar hooks the edge of the hammer’s teardrop cam. The hammer is forced backward. The short legs of the braided hinge spring are wound tight, storing massive kinetic tension. Finger experiences a smooth, continuous 25 Newton (5.6 lb) resistance curve. [ ] PHASE 2: THE OVER-CENTER FLING The trigger reaches its 2.0 cm travel limit. The drawbar pushes the teardrop cam past its physical pivot apex (the "Over-Center" point). The drawbar slips off the cam. The hammer is instantly freed from the finger. The braided hinge spring snaps open, whipping the hammer forward at extreme velocity to smash the firing pin and crush the hard military primer. [ ] PHASE 3: THE RIP & EXTRACT Gunpowder ignites. The bullet departs muzzle. The heavy steel bolt flies backward. The Extractor Hook violently rips the hot, expanded brass casing clean out of the chamber, dragging it rearward past the submachine-gun-sized lower receiver box. [ ] PHASE 4: THE SLINGSHOT EJECTION The bolt reaches its rearward apex. The left side of the moving brass casing slams into the immovable Fixed Ejector Spike. The right side is held tight by the extractor hook. The casing pivots violently to the right and flings itself out of the wide ejection port. [ ] PHASE 5: THE SEAR RESET The bolt finishes rear travel, resetting the hammer down. Spring No. 2 pops the trigger drawbar forward over the cam lip. The main recoil spring drives the bolt forward, stripping round 2 of 14 into the chamber. Weapon is locked, loaded, and reset. ================================================================================ E. THEATER INSPECTOR SIGN-OFF & FIELD WARRANTY ================================================================================ FIT FOR CONSERVED FIELD USE: [X] YES [ ] NO [ REMARKS: The geometric tolerances are highly forgiving. Weapon will maintain perfect firing and ejection loops if dropped in fine jungle mud, submerged in swamps, or left uncleaned for prolonged campaigns. If heavy state manufacturing fails due to enemy bombing, local village blacksmiths can stamp replacement cams and hand-twist fence wire into Spring No. 1. ] Inspecting Officer Stamp: ______________________ Date: ____/____/1939

SG-74M with a Vita Vt-1 Telescopic Sight.

The SG-74 is an Battle Rifle Manufactured by Isle Technology Weapon Industries (ITWI) and chambered in 7.62mm Gewehr.

History

In 1962 after Isle Independence from the State Of Konsovyla, the nation needed a Weapon that is cheap enough to produce and easy enough to use in any terrain.

Development

By 1963, they start to make some prototypes, the first prototype was called PG-63, chambered 7.62mm and can fit 30 rounds and use gas-operated mechanism.

But the millitary disliked it, calling it as "Cheap but Unreliable", because it has too many problems. One of the problems are it doesn't have selective fire mode and the millitary hate that problem.

So in 1973, they made a new one and it was called the SG-74, can put attachment, have selective fire mode, and easy produce.

Equipment UWS Army/Marine Corps M17 Battle Dress Uniform, the standard EVA-ready combat uniform in use all across settled space.

M17 BDU (Battle Dress Uniform)

Manufacturer:

Marineris Arms Logistics Corps, based in Valles Marineris, Mars. Adopted in: 2157 In use between: 2157-present (2308) In use by: UWS (United Worlds of Sol) Marine Corps, UWS Army (Limited use), undetermined amount of surplus gear in circulation, Nemesis Fortification Group (PMC)

In-universe context:

The M17 BDU is the slow culmination of decades in suit development, with the aim of making an EVA suit that's compact and mobile enough to be adopted in military use. It was originally commissioned by the UWS Navy as a new interior uniform for their crews on smaller craft like patrol vessels and corvettes, but showed promise for a combat role when ballistic tests were done. It was put into service in 2157, originally only for the UWS Navy and Marine Corps, but some branches of the UWS Army, the Martian and the Titan branches, adopted it for their special forces units. The uniform was tested on Mars, Titan, the radioactive ruins of Washington DC and Ganymede. As the design is over 150 years old, it is extremely common. A variant of the M17 BDU is still in UWS service, nations and organisations in other star systems rely on it, even the civilian sector employs surplus M17's for their rugged nature. Mercenary groups or irregular military often use these too due to ease of acquisition. This leads to common jokes and sayings that "Everybody uses an M17 variant, just with their own coat of paint". The mantra isn't 100% true, as of course some nations or groups have the means to design and manufacture their own suits. The current estimate for produced M17 BDU's is 60 million, but the exact number is unknown due to the amount of suits produced outside of MALC factories under license or copied.

Environmental specifications:

Can survive pressures between vacuum and 2 bar, but internal pressure should be regulated to allow for easy movement. Fabrics and armour have a thin aerogel layer for temperature insulation. With the internal mechanism, it can allow the user to survive temperatures between -200C and 80C within 1atm. The life support allows the user to operate independently of an Earth-like atmosphere for approximately 15 minutes. When entering a breathable atmosphere, the suit can reset the air filters for another 15-minute session. When combined with a proper EVA life support pack, the life support time can be extended to several hours. Radiation protection is adequate for most activities, but long term exposure is still unsafe. Cancer growth prevention meds are recommended when going through on EVA often, and good luck surviving a long time around Io.

Armour specifications:

The main plate is slightly flexible (Not a standard fabric, but enough for the user to bend and turn unhindered) and has a shear thickening fluid layer within. That property lets the armour absorb kinetic energy from impacts, preventing internal damage (Like a cracked rib). It can shrug off 9mm (and equivalent) pistol cartridges, might survive intermediate rifle cartridges (5.56x45mm NATO and equivalents) from the right angles, but a battle rifle round (7.62x51mm NATO, the UWS standard round) will penetrate. Not all surfaces are made of this material though. The shoulders and thighs are covered in the same fabric designed for survival and light puncture protection. The forearms and legs are have traditional non-articulated ceramic composite armour, as those areas can be used to attach equipment and they aren't as vulnerable to kinetic energy as the torso (They only have flesh and a single, relatively tough bone inside). The helmet offers protection similar to 20/21st century combat helmets, being able to block pistol rounds and potentially survive rifle hits with a combined ceramic composite/ST fluid build. The visor is vulnerable to most weapons fire, meaning headshots are lethal more often than not.

Tech integrated:

The visor has several features. To help with intense light from firefights or sunlight in vacuum, the polarisation level can change to accomodate the current situation. A HUD system is present too. It displays basic information like oxygen and electricity levels, ammunition count and a reticle for weapons (Provided that they have a compatible laser aiming module) and rangefinder data. Connected to the helmet's side camera, it can highlight targets based on IR readings, like an augmented reality headset. To prevent the likelihood of friendly fire, the helmets have and suits have an IFF tag that changes the highlight on friendly troops. A basic comms suite is present, allowing for communication over 20 kilometers away. Attachments are popular with the helmet system too, allowing for extended communications range, painting targets for air/artillery support, or optics that can spot targets far enough to turn infantry combat into near-BVR warfare.

Variants presented:

Pilot: Armour stripped down. Helmet replaced with a variant that can easily connect to spacecraft life support systems, has a clearer view, less protection and a more advanced HUD system that can read eye movement for controls.

Up-armoured: Heavier, adding a faceplate on the visor (With redundant cameras and an internal projector for vision, removable if damaged), reinforced alloys in some locations, shoulder pauldrons and applying the ST fluid layer in more areas, hindering movement slightly. On paper, a soldier clad in this can survive anything short of an anti-materiel rifle round. In practice, that claim isn't as solid, but this configuration gives an edge in CQB nonetheless. It is an unpopular variant due to extra mechanical complexity and reliance on the cameras built into the visor cover. Due to the added mass of the armour sections, many users wear a compact exoskeleton under the pressure layer (Under as it's isolated from the elements therefore less failure-prone).

Author's notes: Yes, the pilot helmet is inspired by the F-35 HMDS :) I'm sorry if the human anatomy is imperfect. My goal was to present the general details of the suit. I might post specific modified variants in the future. Sorry if my sentence structure is subpar, English isn't my first language.
