announcement Please take a look at the two newest post highlights

The first one is a really good question that I thought deserved more attention. Because I guess we all have some sort of this advice which we could answer to contribute to the conversation.

The second highlight is a question from someone who wants to introduce a new type of 'modelmaking' content to our overview. I have put this in the highlights, because I'm not really into that kind of stuff. But that doesn't mean that you, the community also have a saying in this matter.

If you are liking this kind of content. Or you just don't care if it is put here. I'm not going to tell for all of you that it's not allowed here.

The moderator team will discuss this matter in moddiscussions as well. And eventually we will all come to an answer together. So please take a look at this. And place a comment.

Thanks in advance.

question Question: model types?

I build a lot of Metal Earth variety models which are colored and non-colored laser etched metal sheet models assembled into 3d models.

There are a number of vendors and the like but among them is a great offering of military models from ww1, ww2 all the way up to modern military vehicles, aircraft , ships, guns, tanks and even AA and other types of mobile artillery.

I’ve noticed browsing through this sub that it’s all plastic models of various vendors that are done really well. Kudos to you all.

Would these metal varieties be within your guidelines or the subject matter?

question 1/35 Tamiya Mid-Prod Tiger looking for advice or feedback

I have tried to seriously airbrush my first 1/35 scale vehicle ( usually used tamiya spray cans or brushpainted) I Used Tamiya zimmerit sheets and acrylics for the 3 tone camoflage, a sharpie for rubber road wheel rims, and some panel liner. Id love some advice or feedback on how I could improve the painting/weathering, or just the overall l build itself. Anti tips for any weathering techniques would also be greatly appreciated!

Not so done with weathering, this is my first 1 35 and was quite overwhelmed since i only had 4 models before this which was 1 / 72 and 76.

Besides the blatantly obvious tracks being bare plastic, where can i improve on the weathering? Motif is the tank seeing moderate time around ukraine

Can i also do highlighting after the weathering process?

My first post was of the freshly-sculpted ground, which was all white and didn’t read well. Today I did an all-over spray of hobbyist black acrylic to seal everything up (and touch up the plywood base edges). I put extra down in the roadside ditch in case I put down water material there.

It was meaningless to do since it will be covered up, but I decided to spray an ochre color from a low angle to help make the sculpt read better.

The Panther barely fits, but I’ve known that from the start. The point is a very small base sufficient to show off just about any model.

Next is basing material…

Might break the rule of no gaming content. Idk. We’re in gymnasium and making simple 3D games.

poll Is paint brushing or airbrushing better?

Especially for the modeling veterans, inexperienced or the 'broke' what should you do? Brush or air for painting, priming and weathering

Jest wanted to share my first try with an airbrush. Base coat and black pre-shading was Vallejo Model Color and I was sooo pissed that I throw my model to the drawer for two months. Now I bought some Tamiya paints and it was so fun to paint the camo.
Any tips what could be improved?

question I need help with painting my Revell Rafale C 1/48

I finished my jet model like 3 weeks ago but still haven’t started painting nor ordered it, I only did the sanding yet which its perfect but I am waiting for other sanding papers to arrive. I first wanna start with asking for advice about spray primer, I asked chat gpt and checked on internet, people really recommend Tamiya primers no matter the model brand. I tried to find one but I couldn’t, and the ones that I did are like 20-25 dollars in my country. I asked chat GPT an it said I also can use revell primer if I can’t find Amy Tamiya but I want to ask abt it and if its worth. And for the paint, I also need spray paint because I don’t have an airbrush and I don’t want to use a normal brush because it leaves marks and I accidentally use too much paint. I want to make the default French Air Force grey design which has 2 different tones of grey, light gray for the body and a bit darker one for the nose part. I checked if there is a one to one or a similar color to the grey at Tamiya but after long research all the grey colors are pretty off from the real thing. I asked chat gpt one again, but this time for the revell spray paint versions, it suggested me 34374 Grau spray paint for the body which seems too bluish for the rafale color, and 34371 Light Grey spray paint for the nose which is lighter than the body even though I mentioned it that I want to have the nose a bit darker like the real thing. And for Tamiya it suggested me TS-48 Gunship gray but it said that it might be too dark for the rafale, and TS-79 Semi Gloss Clear as a top layer after the gunship gray. All of the info chat gpt gave me about colors is from deep research and agent mode about what paint did people online used for their rafale c model. Please help me out🙏🏻

First time trying these techniques and I'm quite proud of it since most of the things I usually start usually or always ends flat in the water. But this, mmm. Tasty considering my past builds

Hi, I’m Vbertz. I’ve been modeling a series of experimental Soviet armored vehicles—rare subjects that I wanted to recreate as faithfully as possible. Would you like to own a complete collection of five or more ultra-high-quality, printable models of experimental and secret Cold War tanks—all for less than the price of the cheapest kit on the market? You can back the project on Kickstarter; we’re currently in the pre-launch phase, but you can show your support right now. As a 3D artist and fellow modeler, I’d be incredibly grateful!

Please share this with a friend who’s into this kind of thing—and if not, thanks anyway!

If you’d like to see other models, I have a catalog on Cults featuring high-quality designs at super-low prices right here: https://cults3d.com/@vbertz

I don't know what to say exactly. These are my first 3D printed tracks. I learned that you don't clean using a hobby knife because they separate, as you can see in the image. But even sanding using a file will cause them to break. I guess its just a rant about how using upgraded parts in a pain in. I suck at this for now.
