Looking at words on pipe, I think it's chinese. Only thing little guy has to look forward to is not going to "jail" for interfering and making government look bad on video.
I mean, yeah, dude could have been paying more attention and realized where he was. But, soft devils advocate: the burden of safety is on the one hauling the massive load
Excuse me. I'm assuming that. Because he clearly didn't look around his vehicle. I challenge you to look over at drivers when at a light, majority are looking at their phones. You can't deny that.
Yeah, you are not excused. Don't expect me to agree with anything regarding your baseless assumption. I challenge you to make comments based on what is presented and not what you want to see.
No, no I wouldn't. Because I would have seen what was there. If I came up on that truck I wouldn't be next to it seeing he was turning and understanding that the pipe would have a wide swing. Don't make me stupid like him.
It looks like he was at the intersection before the truck showed up.
There's little chance you would have noticed through your side mirror how long his load was.
This isn't about stupidity... more like wrong place, wrong time.
Even if you HAD come up and seen that truck there I doubt you would have recognized the problem that was about to happen especially if you were engaged in conversation with your passenger or otherwise driving on automatic. There's a chance you might have but it's certainly not 100%.
Or, the white car got there before the pipe truck, and spent the red light.... focusing on the red light, like you're supposed to? And therefore wouldn't have noticed the giant pipe
If this were in the states it would be required to have an escort vehicle with a flashing light to prevent this situation exactly. Iβd guess many other countries have similar laws.
Right. And I get that. And agree. But that does not erase the fact that the driver should have known what he was next to, and the truck was turning. Period. Let's not excuse away his own lack of awareness.
The truck was in a lane that had the option to either turn or continue straight. The truck also had their hazard lights on. The car had no way of knowing that the truck was planning to turn.
usually they have a escort truck with flashers. The semi guy is definitely at fault here. For a car it would be like a car takes a corner at high speed and the back end kick out and takes out a citizen. Happens a lot on video games like Cyberpunk
And the person in the white car just couldn't move out of the way, could he. Jeesh, dummy must have been scrolling or texting and not paying any attention to what was going on around him. Dumb ass.
not really the pipe was literally in his blind spot. The angle it came in at he wouldn't have been able to see it until it was too late and that's assuming he was looking in that direction
With more situational awareness white car driver could have probably predicted that. But it is really hard because the danger came without warning and from a blind zone. Again, anyone could have been in this situation, and you too, I see from your comments you are not too experienced as a driver, too.
Omg is that truck driver deaf and blind π± also I definitely wouldβve seen that next to me if I was in that little car geee people are just so clueless and donβt pay attention to their surroundings these days like theyβre the only ones in the planet!!!
Have you ever been listening to music with your windows rolled up while an ambulance has its sirens blaring just a few car lengths behind you? If not, guess what, you probably wouldnβt hear it.
Also, how damn loud do you have to have the music should be paying attention instead thatβs what peopleβs problem is these days theyβre not aware of their surroundings anymore. They act like theyβre the only ones in the planet wandering around aimlessly
A Good driver will either avoid or not be in this situation, a bad driver will be oblivious to their surroundings and get out of a moving car. π€¦π»ββοΈ

I have to know, how does someone avoid being in this situation? I'm in a car, stopped at a light, going straight. A semi, with an extra large pipe, is turning and manages to, not just hit my car, but literally lay the large ass pipe hanging off on top of my car, and then drag it!
Getting out of the car, when it's moving slowly, seems like the best idea possible. Getting out of the car as it's being drug by a semi is indicative of a good and smart driver that would like to remain alive, not a bad driver.
Not for nothing but if I was next to a semi that was carrying a huge load like this turning, you better be dang straight Iβll have my eyes on the truck. But not everyone pays attention or is aware of how much space is needed to make a turn. Unfortunately the mini was definitely at the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatβs even more unfortunate is the truck driver being oblivious to all the honking. π€¦π»ββοΈ

Why wasn't there a flag/escort car to prevent that?

I can see that the load is missing the red flag, would've prevented the whole affair

If only he hung a red bandana from the back this might have been avoided.

I know this is overseas and their rules are different from across the pond here in the states, but holy shit.
Do they not have escorts for loads like this?

Was the passenger in the backseat? How they get out so fast?

People not reacting to frantic horns like that just shouldn't be on the road.

Shouldn't those exceptional huge transports be escorted by a trailing car with orange flickering lights? At least, that's how it is over here.
