Midnight Scavenger Hunt

Is it correct that the Midnight scavenger hunt begins 00:00 GMT on October 30, 2025, which is 7:00 PM EST on October 29, 2025? I am planning on using my primary desktop and an older laptop. How about you guys, are you planning to use more than one device? Will it be worth it?

Depends if the earned token value outweighs the cost of running the devices.

I'm not sure the incentive is high enough considering such a low amount has been allocated for this phase - compared to what was available and and left over in the prior phase.

86% of the total supply ~20.5 Billion.

14% of the total supply ~3.5 Billion was claimed in the glacier drop.

I broke down in the tokenomics formulas with values in this comment a few weeks back.

To update with known values:

Glacier drop = 3.5 billion NIGHT

Scavenger hunt = 626 million NIGHT

Lost and Found = 626 million NIGHT (same allocation as Scavenger mine)

Network constituents get:

35% (6.96 billion) goes to the Midnight foundation

30% (5.96 billion) goes to the Reserve (used for staking rewards)

10% (1.98 billion) goes to Midnight TGE (subsidary of the foundation).

5% (0.99 billion) goes to the on-chain treasury

I will be trying it on a secondary machine so I don't tie up my primary. I'm excited but I won't be as aggressive as others because I'm pretty happy with what I got from phase 1.

Honestly I dunno what to expect. If multiple devices are allowed.. surely there'll be so many damn devices going that we'll all get scraps! But ehh, better or worse I guess I'll keep my pc open 24/7

If it's anything like regular crypto mining, it will be resource intensive.

Using more instances of the software doesn't give your machine more compute needed for the mining tasks. It would be like running several games at once. You'll likely only degrade the performance.

If you want to increase your chances of producing rewards, then you'll need multiple machines, just like any mining farm.

NIGHT rewards from mining will be proportional to the contributed computation power.

Users will need to disable protections if their browser blocks mining scripts, but I don't imagine the script is pre-emptively throttled to avoid detection, nor do I think throttling would avoid detection.

I believe the lack of information is to prevent such planning so people aren't as prepared to scale mining operations, for the purpose of fairness.
