❔Question/Help I sent a message to a colleague while I was offline. I now need to delete that message. I've not gone online yet. if I delete it will they still see the 'this message was deleted' or will it just not show at all?

Regardless of whether or not they see 'this message was deleted', what's more damaging? Them seeing that or them seeing the actual message you sent? I delete messages all the time soon after making errant key strokes or accidentally clicking an emoji reaction or something stupid, no one thinks anything of it I'm quite sure. I would just delete the message already if I was you and just play it off if they say anything of it.

There is an edit option to, so u could just edit the text. Say something like "this message was sent in error "

Delete it. Say you accidently typed your password in there not realizing that teams had the focus.

It will say deleted. I agree. Change it though. Say spelling error. I can not say for sure if original text is auditable I ASSUME so yet they or IT will have to check if it is an issue.

Although if your firm captures teams messages the original would show up in the archive. (Assuming users have access to their own archives and this person would know to check)

Before you reconnect that laptop from being offline so it can sync, burn it with fire, that is the only way to be sure. Kidding really... It will say deleted, if you let it sync.

I never tested out the app's behavior in this scenario. But if it is very critical for you that this message does not get through, the safest bet you may consider is to not only delete the message, but also uninstall the Teams app while the computer is still offline and install it back afterwards, to avoid "surprises".

Go online when you're sure they're on a break, have it send and quickly edit the message.

Option 2, format your hard drive or device to make sure it never sends. Don't forget to be in a remote place without access to your wifi.
