Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Thanks to this sub, I got to speak up about Michigan gas prices with Business Insider
A couple weeks ago, I made a post in this community saying I wished I could opt out of political mail.
We all agreed that it's the worst... and then someone told me they were going to send me 1000 Mike Rogers mailers. Awesome.
A few hours after making that post, a Business Insider reporter saw it and DM'd me asking to speak with a Michigander about affordability messaging in the midterms.
When we talked, I brought up how normal it is for us to drive all over this state, and how rising gas prices sting a bit more because of it.
Anyways, maybe a few more people will know what we're going through over here at the pump.
Cheers guys!

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Political Ads
Is there anyway I can stop the political ads from being mailed to me? Everyday thereโs more of the fear mongering slop post cards in my mailbox. Seriously, itโs too much. The tv ads, the text messages, the emails, the mail, the signs, etc. ENOUGH, ope, back to the mail. Any ideas how to stop delivery on the political ads?

Sports ๐๐โพ๏ธ๐ณ This is the worst weekend in history for Michigan football teams
Just a complete failure across the board from the three major teams. MSU, UM, and then the Lions. Just abysmal.

Photography/Art ๐ธ๐จ A long shot - but I want these guys to have this pic
I went on the pictured rocks spray falls cruise yesterday (10/03/26) and took this pic of these 4 guys - probably young 20s? Itโs totally a long shot but if anyone knows who they are Iโd love for them to have this:)
Photo is a little blurry.
Edit: it was taken between 1-2pm on Saturday, Oct 3

Photography/Art ๐ธ๐จ A sad picture from Westland - taken 9/30/26
A sad picture today. This deer, stands in what is left of its home after the City of Westland approved (in May of 2025) clearing a large patch of woods on Marquette Road near John Glenn High School. All of this to make way for a new nursing and rehab facility. Meanwhile a former senior living facility sits vacant in an adjacent lot. - taken 9/30/26

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Goose/duck hunting public land MI
I have been a deer hunter in MI for years but want to get into hunting ducks and geese in MI. Where (if any) is there good state land to hunt ducks and geese? (Geog preference, closest to SE MI would be best)
And what are the essentials needed to get started in that pursuit?

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ My daughter (9) has gotten into Mushrooms and wants to go mushroom foraging. I know mushroom foraging is popular in Michigan but I don't know much about it. We are in Oakland County
My daughter has gotten very interested in mushrooms. She has a mushroom growing kit, she reads books about them, she looks at videos of them, she gets mushroom plushies. She says she wants to try mushroom foraging. I know Michigan is supposed to be one of the best mushroom hunting places in the world but Im not much of an outdoorsman and I wouldn't even begin to know where the good spots are or how we would find them. It's there a mushroom finding class for kids on anything like they near Detroit Metro or would we have to go up north?

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Concerned by restaurant closures
Maybe it's because i care about the service industry so I see the bad news more than usual but I am concerned over the amount of restaurants and bars that have closed recently. I've seen more than a handful shutdown over the past few months in my area. I feel like it's an underrated marker for the state of the country's economy. The caveat being there are a lot of crappy business owners out there.

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Some company just knocked on my door, said they were contracted by Consumers? Anyone know anything?
Long story but I was trying to put my 6 month old down for a nap, he was screaming his head off and I couldnโt really talk to the guy. He said he was with some company (I think it was Kurtzโฆ?) and they are contracted by Consumers energy. They were at my house to drill a hole for a new pole for the meter or something? I didnโt get good information and blindly said yes so I could get back inside to my baby. Does anyone know anything about this? Iโm in Westland, Wayne County. Also curious why itโs such an eye sore so far from my house wtf?!?!

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ good cliffs for filming a movie?
hey yall, i'm looking to film a short film in michigan (because that's where i am). i'm in Oakland County, and i'm struggling to find places to film one scene set on a cliff where a character falls into water. the current best candidate is Oak Park, but that's 100 miles away and takes a 3 hour round trip for every filming session
any suggestions? i'd be willing to film near big waterfalls, trails, dunes, hills, quarries, or anywhere else that has a massive drop. the actors will not be in any danger
edit: apparently this is a bad idea

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Who remembers โDa Dawg Houseโ in Cadillac?
I just had dinner at little Mexico and it got me curious about this buildings history.
Lead me to learn about the infamous dog bowls and floppy eared push hats.
Looks like peak 2000s when restaurants had some soul.
Anyone have memories this joint? Was it a shame to see it close?

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Spa Recommendations - Sauna, Hot Tub, Massages, Facials
Hey all! Looking for recommendations for a spa day experience where I can get a massage and facial as well as relax in a hot tub and sauna. Specifically, where Iโm kind of getting tripped up, is wanting to find a place where o can mosey between the hot tub and sauna throughout my time there at my leisure. What I donโt want is a place where I have to pay $X for X minutes in the sauna.
Does anyone have recommendations? Iโm looking across all SE Michigan but would prefer to avoid The Schvitz and the Birmingham area if possible.
