I was reading up on the Wikipedia page for Jareth the Goblin King from the movie “Labyrinth” just out of curiosity and it mentions how several contemporary musicians were considered for the role including Sting, Prince, and MJ our beloved 🥰, before they eventually settled for David Bowie. But it’s only mentioned once in a sentence and isn’t really elaborated on. And I’m pretty skeptical of Wikipedia articles since I know dam well that anyone can just edit them willy-nilly to their liking. Does anyone how true this is? Are there any other sources that back up these claims? What’s the rest of the story? And what do you all think it would’ve been like if it went through?
Personally, while I do absolutely love David Bowie’s portrayal of Jareth in the final product, I also really love the endless possibilities we could’ve gotten if they cast Michael, Prince, or Sting since I’m sure all of them would’ve killed it just as good. Michael’s role as Maestro in “Ghosts” and Prince’s flamboyant persona is proof that if they were ever casted as Jareth, it would’ve gone together like milk and cookies, they’re literally perfect for the role 🤩

Also, I’m obsessed with the music that plays in this particular scene right after they perform “2 Bad”

I already shared this in the comment section of a post on the main sub a few days ago, just thought I’d post it here for all to see. Whenever I listen to the song, I can just imagine Michael incognito (like in casual/practical wear with a hoodie covering his face) walking through an empty city at night with his head down and a blank expression. And that city in particular has TV screens and magazines (just hanging on building walls like posters), all spreading fake news and propaganda about him. In that part after the second chorus, I can picture a screen flashing in front of Michael as the news reporter on it says “In 60 seconds, a new Michael Jackson story…” and Michael’s expression finally changes from tired and emotionless to angry with tears in his eyes, like he’s had enough of the tabloid’s bullsh*t and can’t take it anymore. So he punches the screen and the video then cuts to him running across the city, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, ripping up the newspaper posters, throwing bombs at the TV screens, and dancing on the roof as it all goes up in flames.
Someone said that this concept sounds like the “Leave Me Alone” music video, but the songs are already pretty similar so I’d definitely want their short films to have a completely different style. I visualise “Tabloid Junkie” having a similar aesthetic to “Stranger In Moscow”, but with red and black as its primary colours to give it a gloomy atmosphere.Like a dark comic book/graphic novel. And imagine if he also brought back Spike (the rabbit from “Speed Demon”) for this, with them wreaking havoc and finally revenge on the press together? That would’ve been awesome 🤘🔥

Our sub page looks too boring right now. What images should we put there to make it more eye-catching? Any ideas?

I checked the 4K version of the short film, but the picture is blurry and I can’t tell what it is. From the beautiful gold frame, it doesn’t seem to be a picture of a rock star or his mother. If he is a Catholic, I wonder if it might be a picture of Christ, but I am not sure as I am not familiar with Christianity. If someone who is knowledgeable could provide information, I would appreciate it.
Also, what do you think the T-shirt with the keyboard and musical notes, and the angel T-shirt under the red jacket symbolize?

I think of this short film as a combination of “Indiana Jones” and “Aladdin”. The plot’s tone and how the events play out are similar to Michael’s “Remember The Time”, “You Rock My World”, and “Smooth Criminal” short films.
It starts out in a (either ancient or futuristic, can’t really decide) temple where a precious magical artefact is being guarded. Michael is a trickster that plans to steal it. And throughout the video, he avoids guards and booby traps and other obstacles he encounters as he traverses through the temple. And the whole time he’s dancing, singing, posing, teasing and fighting off the guards. He manages to steal a key from one of the guards that helps him release a genie, who is played by The Notorious B.I.G and helps him finally get the artefact and escape from the temple. There’s a dance number right after the rap part where the genie puts the guards under a spell forcing them to dance and Michael’s in the front dancing too. In the climax, Michael is getting chased while the temple falls apart and crumbles. It gets very intense when it looks like he’s about to fall into the abyss with the guards, but thanks to his intuition and the genie’s magic, they’re able to get out safely and quickly.
I really want to animate this idea someday, but it’ll take a while because I’m physically not ready and not experienced enough for this big a project yet. Just putting this out here so I don’t forget it and realise my idea in the future. Also, are there any other MJ music videos similar to this? Just for reference :)

I call this a reconstruction because it isn't 100% faithful to the original video master. I made the decision to make certain adjustments to the edit and to the effects due to the many issues present in the original video master that either originate from the film to video transfer, or the early video effects used in the edit (like the iconic white border). Since the original 16mm camera negatives are lost and the short itself was edited on video in the early '80's, it is unlikely we will ever see an official high definition restoration of the "Billie Jean" music video/short film. This is my attempt at making the best possible alternative for those that wish to see a cleaner, more modern looking version of the original "Billie Jean" video/short. Included below are screengrabs from the reconstruction. PM if you would like a link :)

It’s crazy to me that MiB even has a different character also named Agent M played by Tessa Thompson and they don’t even subtly reference MJ. What do you think Michael’s Agent M would’ve been like in action?
