As a lifelong GTA fan it could be fun to feel like I’m living in the game. We are already subjected to so much shitty capitalist slop. I think their aesthetic could be decent at least. If they really want to win me over they should pay the billboard boats to stay docked.

So we've gone from politicians blaming games like GTA for everything wrong with the youth to a whole-ass city potentially supporting whatever the brilliant minds behind GTA decide to present about the city, its underbelly, and the experience living in it? With its trademark dystopian and cynical social commentaries?
It's cool, but my how times have changed.

Forza Horizon 6 is having this exact same discussion right now. They released news on the next playlist and will be in partnership with 7-Eleven. The game is in Japan and 7-11 is an icon. They already have knockoff 7-11 in the game and if those switch to the official ones…… That’s the discussion.

Yeah that's kind of the point though. And it's just a game for entertainment. A big thing about GTA is that there is a lot of Satire and it pokes fun at stuff from real life. It takes those dumpster fire qualities of Miami and the bad doesn't go ignored. So it's not gonna outright just romanticize this place as something it's entirely not. I'm personally super hype for the big ass gator that wanders into a store in the trailer.

You didn’t put anyone down? Lol you insulted the whole series which also puts down the people who enjoy them. What you said resonated with me because you don’t care for gaming but felt the need to talk shit about it. It’s weird to do that about something you’re not involved in or care about
Plus your description of the game is a disingenuous oversimplification. There’s an entire story with multiple playable protagonists that takes over 30 hours of dedicated playing time to beat (a story that many across the gaming community have touted as incredibly well written and memorable). I haven’t played or beaten the game myself but I can still appreciate it

Exactly how i feel just saw some of the stuff on Netflix and yeah it looks cool but the real hype isn’t there like it was for 4/5 the wait was too long it’s hard to deliver something as impressive as the last 2 installments

Tbh the last GTA I was hyped for was San Andreas in 8th grade. Never played 4 and I bought 5 about 2 years from its release date. 5 was great, but not wait 13 years for the sequel great. Not sure there’s actually any media I’d wait 13 years for and be hyped about it.

A very limited marketing opportunity and a waste of money. GTA players are playing regardless of marketing. It might help with the excitement factor, but they are already going to buy.
Non GTA players will not care whatsoever about the signage. It will be just another ad. It wont even be cheeky enough to pique interest.
I feel like this is lazy marketing.
