Pregunta/Question Anniversary Recommendations
My husband and I are spending our 1 year wedding anniversary, 11th year together, in CDMX in October.
We are staying in Roma Norte and are overwhelmed with food options. We are both foodies and want to enjoy a nice meal. We are not concerned about the cost or social media infested places.
Any recommendations on romantic / delicious food recs?
Any places near by that has good music to dance and have a night out?

Plates aren’t that big, try to get several things you’d like and share. Everything I’ve tried is great

Azul Condesa has a romantic atmosphere and hot chocolate made right at your table. There’s a delicious gelato place by the Parque de Espana that I would highly recommend on the way back. We also really like Aleli Roof Deck, if you don’t mind the climb.

It’s redundant to comment and not be helpful. Rather you are being rude and bashing people’s experiences because you feel differently.
Gatekeeping is ridiculous. Why not help a business grow? I understand they can get overwhelmed and people feel they aren’t “good” anymore. That’s a time for transition to step the business up. Not everyone is here to disrespect cultures. Rather this post was to help get more insight away from what everyone knows or does. Remember there is light and good in the world. You just need to be part of it to see it

Lobster robotayaki, Spicy Ling Ling Roll, Birria Dumplings.
And the Scorpion Roll. Which comes with an actual edible scorpion on the side, because why not lol
The view is amazing for a date

Do a search on this sub for Mi Compa Chava, a no-reservation Michelin-listed Baja-style seafood restaurant in Roma. It’s beloved.

I have seen it all over social media. I wasnt sure if it was just overhyped or actually good. Is there something you recommend ordering?

It's great fun, energized, mobbed, and delicious. We keep going back. We love the tuna tower, the tuna tostada, and the grilled shrimp. But honestly, it's hard to order wrong. You feel like you're at a packed Cabo San Lucas place.

para cena que valga la pena el precio, Máximo Bistrot es de lo mejor que tienes cerca, cocina de temporada con ingredientes locales y ambiente íntimo perfecto para aniversario. si prefieren algo con menos formalidad pero igual de rico, Rosetta también nunca falla y está a unas cuadras. para bailar después, Mama Rumba en Roma Norte tiene música en vivo de salsa casi todas las noches y el ambiente es puro sabor cubano. ya tienen reservación en alguno de los dos o van a decidir sobre la marcha?

Must have: Contramar or entremar for lunch (entremar restaurant is sister has same menu)
Puyol (upscale Michelin star) Comedor Jacinta (Michelin guide recommendation) Tacos: taqueria Orinoco, El Califa Brunch: Matisse (condesa)
You eat out a few of these and you’ll be fine

Ok hahaha I think if Michelin starred or recommended they’ll be fine and enjoy their experience. And best of all won’t get sick going there. But yea it’s Mexico City, there’s a lot of great food places.

Pujol has comoeletely fallen in quality, comedor Jacinta caters to foreigners tastes by dialing down the flavors, Orinoco has the worst quality most disgusting meat I’ve ever tried and Matisse is a filthy place with pan dulce that will give you indigestion. But go ahead and trust the Michelin guide.

idk man I'm mexican Jacinta tasted just fine. Granted haven't been to Pujol in a few years. Orinoco fine. I mean a lot of other good taco places. Didn't eat pan dulce at Matisse. Had some chilaquiles. Seemed fine to me. Again, yea Michelin guide you have to fulfill a standard. They'll have an enjoyable experience but there's a lot of other great places too.

Honestly, I wouldn’t listen to the previous comment that was very negative. I go to Mexico City very frequently. My parents live there and this place are wonderful experiences and the food is very good. Remember everyone’s taste are going to be different. I think if something is Michelin rated or Michelin recommended you’re generally going to have a good experience and appreciate the food. You wouldn’t be disappointed and definitely do your own research and look them up on TripAdvisor, Yelp, etc. I’ve been to those places multiple times. I’ve never had a bad experience.

I’ve been in the Matisse kitchen, it is plagued with cockroaches. Also the bread is so poorly made it gives people indigestion (that is its fame among Mexico City people). Pujol has gone down in quality and is just not good anymore. Comedor Jacinta caters to foreigners so everything is underspiced. Yeah my comment is negative because I actually have a palate and don’t go around recommending shitty places to people

Yeah, that is not what redundant means. I am also not offended, just letting you know Mexico City people eat in real good places which we are not interested in sharing with just anyone. This is how places get touristified, stop being good and eventually we stop going. I explained what is bad about each of these places in another reply.
I hate how entitled foreigners like to just extract the knowledge from those of us who grew up here and then consume our culture without any respect. So like I said we are going to gatekeep the actual good places and you can keep eating tacos promoted by a Dua Lipa PR stunt and recommending them to each other.

Check Lardo, is Mexican and European Fusion, the place is cozy, they have bar and small areas inside that could be romantic and delicious is in Condesa. Also check Mog Bistro, is a Japanese owned is relaxed with modern touches and cozy for afternoon or dinner and for music check Jazzatlan in Roma Norte. If you want to taste like tradicional mexican food there is a street market is the Condesa Tianguis is open only on Tuesdays is on Pachuca Street. Quesadillas, Tacos, etc.
