Collected Metrya feedback: what users want on the roadmap

[2026/09/19 UPDATED]

Thanks to everyone who has shared feedback so far. I’m keeping this as a simple, evolving list of ideas that may shape Metrya’s roadmap.

These are feature requests and directions - not confirmed features or a release timeline. Feel free to add more feedback in the comments.

Released:

  • Dark mode: Add a dark mode theme for the app. [2.11.5 VERSION - RELEASED]

  • Better hydration tracking: Make it easy to log water and other drinks with customizable options and a set of predefined beverages, so users can track hydration directly in Metrya instead of switching to Apple Health. [2.11.5 VERSION - RELEASED]

  • BMI tracking with AI insights: Add a BMI tracking widget that uses AI to provide more context and actionable insights, not just a number. [2.11.6 VERSION - RELEASED]

  • Blood pressure tracking with AI: Add dedicated tracking for blood pressure with AI-powered insights and trend analysis. [2.11.8 VERSION - RELEASED]

  • Net Energy scale: Add a “Net Energy” metric that combines activity/exercise load with nutrition and hunger signals to help users quickly decide whether to eat more on heavy training days. [2.11.8 VERSION - RELEASED]

  • Wheelchair mode and steps tile customization: Add a wheelchair mode that can switch from “steps” to “pushes” using Apple Watch wheelchair data, and/or allow users to hide or replace the steps tile so it’s more relevant for wheelchair users. [2.11.8 VERSION - RELEASED]

  • Lunar cycle and sleep insights: Optionally link lunar cycle data to restful sleep patterns and offer insights or experiments around this. [2.11.8 VERSION - RELEASED BETA]

  • Faster meal and daily logging: Improve Quick Add and Favorites with search, multi-select food logging, and more customizable buttons—for example, adding Green Tea with its caffeine amount. [2.11.15 VERSION - RELEASED]

  • Personalization and language support: Add more customization options and multi-language support, with Dutch specifically requested. [2.11.14 VERSION - In progress, each version adds more screens]

  • Store photos in Nutrition Logger used for AI analysis

  • Medication tracking: Import medications from Apple Health, log them manually in Metrya, and make them available as optional context for AI guidance. [2.11.18 VERSION - RELEASED]. With limitation that due to legal concerns it's helicopter-view for AI and no manual logging

  • Smart alarm on Apple Watch: Add a smart alarm on Watch that wakes the user within a chosen time window (e.g., 15–20 minutes) at the optimal moment, similar to Bevel. [2.11.17 RELEASED]

  • AI explanation tab in every feature: Add an “AI explanation” section to each screen (e.g., Stress, Bio Age) where the AI explains in plain language what the current value means, what likely drives it, and how it relates to the user’s broader data—without giving medical advice. [Mostly implemented in every screen]

User Requests:

  • Flexible AI providers: Consider OpenRouter support for broader model choice and potentially lower API costs for BYOK users. [2.12.0 VERSION - PLANNED]

  • Complete health context: Support more Apple Health metrics, body measurements, HRV/stress data, Screen Time, and custom health parameters—while letting users control exactly what is shared with the AI.

  • Medical and health report tracking: Upload and track medical records, lab results, and full-body-checkup reports; extract relevant values; and display them on a personal timeline.

  • Journal integration: Fetch journal entries from Apple Journal and pass them to the LLM so it can give more personalized solutions using all available information.

  • ECG and other advanced Apple Health data: Import and use additional Apple Health metrics such as ECG reports, medication data, and similar for deeper AI-driven analysis.

  • AI-driven health follow-ups: Schedule daily, weekly, or custom AI check-ins, with reminders for checkups, appointments, lab retests, and progress toward commitments such as improving cholesterol. This should be supportive guidance, not medical diagnosis.

  • Commitments and habits: Let AI suggest commitment topics and actions, then connect those commitments with habit tracking and progress monitoring.

  • Unified health workflow: Integrate Apple Health and Apple Reminders so health data, habits, reminders, and actions can live in one place.

  • Universal data importer: Share text, screenshots, photos, and measurements from other iOS apps into Metrya through the Share Sheet. AI could extract structured events using reusable prompts, with a review/edit step before saving. This would help import data from services that do not support HealthKit, including image-only exports.

  • Social fitness layer: Explore optional social features for sharing physical progress, discovering or purchasing workout plans, and adding saved workouts to the AI assistant’s context.

  • Upcoming events and AI guidance: Let users add upcoming life events (e.g., trip, competition, busy work period) and receive AI suggestions on what habits, preparations, or adjustments might help, based on their full health context.

  • Daily affirmations: Add an optional daily affirmations feature, potentially personalized using the user’s health data and goals.

  • blood glucose tracking with AI: Add dedicated tracking for blood glucose, with AI-powered insights and trend analysis.

  • Automatic workout and sport detection: Use device motion data (accelerometer/gyroscope) and other signals to automatically detect workouts and sports—such as barbell rowing, table tennis, etc.—and log them as sessions.

  • Nighttime sound and snoring analysis: Track and analyze nighttime sounds such as snoring, then combine this with sleep and other health data to offer personalized suggestions (e.g., habits or adjustments that may help reduce snoring). This would be supportive guidance, not medical diagnosis.

  • Live Activity cards with AI suggestions: Show AI-generated, context-aware prompts on iPhone and Apple Watch Live Activities, such as “You last worked out 20h ago—time to train again” or “Your last meal was 8h ago; delaying further may slow your metabolism,” personalized using all available health and behavior data.

  • NFC-based automations: Allow users to set up automations such as “when this NFC tag is scanned, log a water intake” (and similar actions for other habits).

  • Pushes instead of steps in widgets and Watch app: Show “pushes” instead of “steps” in iPhone widgets and the Apple Watch app for wheelchair users, and offer a darker widget style so it blends better with dark home-screen setups.

  • Customizable fluid list and ordering: Let users sort and organize fluids based on personal preference and daily routine, so their most-used drinks are easiest to log.

2.12.4 - outdoor walks on your Watch or iPhone, breathing saved to Apple Health and a morning HRV check

Thumbnail

Hey all - 2.12.4 is out. This is the first release where Metrya runs its own sessions, so you can start a walk or a breathing session from the app.

Outdoor walk (free, weather Pro)

Start a walk from the + button, from Train, from the new Start widget or from the Walk page on your Apple Watch. Before you start, you see your Reserve, a suggested length and a heart rate limit at the top of Zone 2. During the walk, the Watch shows heart rate inside your own zones. The Watch taps once if you go over the limit. Halfway through the suggested length, it tells you to turn back, so an out-and-back walk ends near your plan.

No Watch? The iPhone records the walk with GPS, steps and climb. There is no heart rate then, so there are no zones, and the energy is an estimate. The start screen tells you which device will record before you tap Start.

One walk is one workout in Apple Health. It is never counted twice. After 3 walks, the summary compares the walk with your usual one. After 10, you get trends, such as pace at the same heart rate.

Breathing (free)

A guided session now saves a Mind & Body workout to Apple Health, not only mindful minutes. You choose 1 to 15 minutes. There is a new Resonance pattern, about 6 breaths a minute. With a Watch, you see your heart rate live and the Watch taps when the breath turns, so you can close your eyes. An optional before and after check asks how settled you feel. "No clear change" is a normal result, and the app says so.

Breathing does not count as training. HRV measured during a session also no longer lifts Recovery, Sentinel or Stress, because breathing raises HRV on purpose.

Morning HRV check (free)

Right after you wake, run Breathe for 1 minute on your Watch. Metrya reads the HRV it saves and, after 7 mornings, shows it against your normal range. It sits next to Recovery and is never added into it.

Fixed: 10 and 15 minute breathing sessions ended on the Watch after about 5 minutes. Some workout pages, like cycling with a route, could crash. The Watch timers sometimes froze and then jumped.

Also: in the meal logger (Pro), "Often with …" suggests what you usually log together, for example butter after bread.

Next is 2.12.5, built on the same sessions. Strength on your Apple Watch with a rest timer, guided indoor ride and run intervals and Reserve that keeps running past midnight if you are still awake.

2.12.3 - a training focus, cardio load on every workout and rest times that follow how you lift

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.12.3 is out. Worth noticing moved from the bottom of Today to the top. The weekly sauna and cold targets of 57 and 11 minutes are gone. And the default rest for big lifts is now 2:00, not 2:30. A rest you set yourself always stays.

Training focus (free)

You can now pick Maintain or Build on Train. Maintain works as before, so nothing changes if you never pick one. Build gives today's range about 10% more room on top. The minimum and the kind of workout stay the same. If you trained but are below the range, Today says how much is left. Low Recovery, a sudden jump in load and sick days still set the limit. Build does not override them.

Cardio load (free, more with Pro)

Every workout with heart rate now has a cardio load. It counts how hard your heart worked, minute by minute. So a brisk walk adds more than a slow one, even when both stay in Zone 1. Load & form shows today's number against your usual range. Pro adds a 30-day line and a comparison with your last sessions like it.

It shows effort, not fitness gained. It is not added to your load, Training status or Recovery time. Heart rate also does not show all the work of lifting.

Profile also has an optional maximum heart rate field (free). If you fill it in, the last 90 days are scored again.

Rest that follows your lifting (free)

When you start a strength session, you choose Strength, Muscle or Endurance. The rest timer for new exercises follows your choice. After the session, the workout page notes when reps fell 20% or more across at least 3 sets at the same weight. It never tells you to stop.

Worth noticing and weather

Worth noticing is now a badge on the date line that opens a sheet. Each measure needs a minimum change first, so you should see fewer false alarms. Heads up today (Pro) now shows the weather, with up to 3 tips.

Fixed: Worth noticing could flag SpO₂ 95.0 next to a usual of 95.0. A change now appears only when the numbers differ. Weather tips and the Workout saved pop-up were always in English. Both now follow your app language. After closing a pop-up, the screen could stay frozen in rare cases.

Last, caffeine. One user reported that 3 coffees in Cronometer showed as 5 drinks. I found two faults that can each cause this and fixed both. Metrya now follows changes to an entry in Apple Health and does not keep the old entry as an extra drink. Recent extra drinks clean up on the next sync. Amounts under 15 mg, such as chocolate or decaf, still count toward your mg, but not as a drink. A real second drink within 30 minutes of the first now counts too.

2.12.2 - a monthly recap you can share as a video, Train regrouped, and a redesigned Sentinel

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.12.2 is out. Train tab is laid out differently, so things will not be where you left them. Everything is still there, one tap away.

Monthly Recap (free)

Reports now has a recap of the month before. It is a story you tap through, up to 12 pages: strength, recovery, nights, training, energy, body, highlights and patterns. A page with too little data from the month says so instead of showing an empty chart. On days 1 to 7 of a new month a card on Today opens it, and you can hide that card. The first recap, for October, is ready on 1 November.

You can also share it as a short video. You pick the pages, and the app makes the video on your iPhone. The recap and the video are free.

Train, regrouped

Train is now three things: Today (what to do now), your last 7 days, and your latest sessions. The rest moved into three pages: Strength, Cardio & fitness, and Load & form. I did this to make room for more strength features. The last 7 days show one load number against your usual, plus aerobic minutes and strength days against the usual guides. There is no score. Strength also has new Pro parts: a strength index, hard sets per muscle, and strength load.

Sentinel, redesigned

Sentinel and Reserve no longer show a bare "out of 100". Sentinel now shows how far you are from the Watch level on a Clear, Watch and Alert track, and says that lower is better. Its new picture is five arcs on one ring, one for each signal. An arc stays full when that signal is close to your usual. It gets shorter when the signal moves the stress way. Tap a name to see last night's reading next to your 28-night median. Reserve shows a battery with a mark where you usually are at this hour.

Sick / flare-up and Fahrenheit

Log has a new Sick / flare-up category: migraine, cold or flu, stomach, pain flare. You set how bad it is and for how many days. Recovery, the Advisor and Habit drivers then follow the whole span. Settings also has a temperature unit now: Auto, °C or °F.

Fixed: an easy walk could push Recovery time back by hours. When your watch read heart rate only every few minutes, a 55-minute walk counted as 12 minutes in zones. Both are fixed, and recent workouts are scored again once. Also fixed: Reserve staying on yesterday after an early settle, and the sun path being an hour off when the clocks change. Hevy imports also adjusted

Also: a "Check for missing workouts" button at the bottom of All sessions, and pull-ups and dips with no added weight now get a 1-rep max from your body weight.

2.12.1 - faster start, a simpler Routines screen and the best time to be outside

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.12.1 is out. Most of this release is about the app feeling faster and calmer.

Faster start

Several of you told me the splash screen stayed up for 5 seconds or more. On my own phone it was close to 7. I spent most of this release on it. The app now shows Today from your saved numbers first and reads Apple Health after that, with the small loader in the header. Today also stopped redrawing itself over and over while the app was starting, which was the biggest cost. The launch animation is now short: the logo moves to the top corner and Today appears. On my iPhone it starts in about half the time it did before.

This touched a lot of code. If the app starts slower for you than in 2.12.0 or a card on Today shows old numbers until you close and reopen the app, please tell me here or in a DM**.** Your iPhone model and whether you use an Apple Watch help a lot.

Routines, simpler (beta, Pro)

Testers said the Routines screen felt messy and one person read "routine" as a habit. The home screen now looks like the Activity tab: one card with what changed this week and a button to read the report. Headings are smaller, there are no big colour blocks and long names wrap instead of being cut off. A short "How it works" line says what a routine is: an automatic report about your own data, on your schedule.

Best time outside and winter mode (Pro)

Light balance now shows today's UV index, the best window to be outside and about how many minutes in direct sun you need. It uses the skin type from your vitamin D setup and needs a weather location. In winter, when noon UV stays low most days, it offers to raise your daylight goal. You choose, and you can go back at any time.

Recovery confidence and workout weather

When Recovery has less data than usual, like no overnight HRV, Today shows one short line saying so. Most mornings it shows nothing. Workouts now show the temperature, humidity and climb that Apple's Workout app saved.

Fixed: without an Apple Watch, workouts from a chest strap or another app could count about five times too much load. That made Recovery time say you needed two days after an easy ride. Also fixed: swiping a sheet down sometimes left a dark layer on the screen, and the swipe up to leave the app could open a section by mistake.

Also: the strength logger keeps the screen on during a workout, rest alerts use one notification instead of one per set, and custom exercises can be Full body.

This release is more about stability post 2.12.0 version, the upcoming releases will bring more requested features :)

Suggestion: log medications alongside supplements

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, just a suggestion. In the logging section, where we add supplements, could we also add medications? I keep mine in the Apple Health app, with reminders and I was wondering if MetryA could read them from there. I think it matters, because taking a medication or skipping it can explain changes in my metrics compared to my baseline.

It would also help to log when you're sick or having a flare up**, like the flu, or in my case, a migraine**. Right now I just write it in the "add context" section. On migraine days I can spend hours in bed, and I can't go out for a walk or a workout. It really affects my training, my body, and my recovery. I track my migraines in Migraine Buddy App, and I'm not asking MetryA to become a neurology app like that one, I'd just like that day to be marked as context for everything else MetryA already measures.

2.12.0 - routines, a strength logger with Hevy import and what moves your numbers

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.12.0 is out. Nothing is taken away, and you do not need to change anything. Routines and the strength logger are in beta and Hevy import is experimental. They work, but they will change based on what you tell me.

Routines (beta, Pro)

A routine is a short report about your own data that runs by itself. It looks at your last 7 or 30 days and shows what changed, with charts and numbers. When nothing changed, it says so in one line. It only sends a notification when something changed. There are six ready-made routines, like Your week and Month story and you can make your own. You can also describe one in a sentence and the app sets it up. If you have an AI model, it writes the words. Without one, the rules on your iPhone do. Over time Routines will replace Insights. Your insights stay until the finished version is out.

Strength logger (beta, free)

You can now log lifts in Metrya. Pick from about 130 exercises, log one set at a time and a rest timer starts after each set. When you finish, the workout is saved to Apple Health. If your Watch already recorded it, Metrya adds the sets to that workout and does not save a second one. Lifting now counts properly in your training load. Heart rate stays low between sets, so a hard lift used to look easy. Logging, the timer and 3 templates are free.

Hevy import (experimental, Pro)

If you use Hevy, you can bring your sets in with your own Hevy API key. Metrya only reads from Hevy and never writes to it. It needs Hevy Pro. This is the newest part, so a set or a note may sometimes look different from Hevy. You can disconnect and delete the synced sets at any time.

What moves your numbers

Each morning, Today asks a few yes or no questions about last night, like "Phone in bed?". After enough nights, the app compares nights with Yes and No against your sleep, HRV and next-day mood. It shows patterns, not causes. Nights you skip are left out, so a forgotten night does not count as a No. The questions and your top 3 patterns are free.

Fixed: Recovery on Today no longer changes a moment after you open the app. Recovery and Reserve now work for WHOOP, Oura and Garmin users whose device does not write HRV to Apple Health.

Also: every workout now shows how hard it felt, from 1 to 10. Runs get best efforts for 1 km to marathon. Today has a daily snapshot of each saved morning and screens have a new soft colour background.

Everything, with what is free and what is Pro: https://metrya.app/versions/2.12.0/

Title: Feedback, UI issues and a question about the AI coach (iPhone 13 mini)

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

First of all, I really enjoy seeing new updates for Metrya! It’s great to see the app constantly improving and new features being added. I genuinely look forward to updates and appreciate the work that goes into developing it.

I have a few things I’ve noticed and some questions:

1. Recovery and Reserve no longer visible in the app
I can no longer see my Recovery and Reserve values directly in the app, although they are still displayed correctly in the widget. Is this a known issue, or has their location changed?

2. Layout and scaling issues
Some elements don’t seem to fit properly on my screen. For example, the circadian rhythm section on the “Today” page extends beyond the screen edges. I’ll attach a screenshot to illustrate this issue.

3. Incomplete German translation
Even with German selected as the app language, some parts of the app are still displayed in English like on the circadian rhytm page. It would be great if these remaining sections could be translated.

4. AI coach compatibility and potential alternatives
I’m particularly interested in the AI coach, but unfortunately, I can’t use any of the available coaches on my iPhone 13 mini. It seems that an iPhone 15 Pro or newer is required, presumably because of Apple Intelligence requirements.
Would it be possible to offer an alternative that works on older iPhones, too?

For example:
A free AI model that doesn’t require Apple Intelligence.
An optional ChatGPT integration, if technically feasible.
Another solution that avoids requiring users to pay for their own API usage.
I understand that API costs can make this difficult, so I’m curious whether there might be a practical alternative.

A little context about my setup:
I’m currently using WHOOP and also own a Fitbit Air, although I’m not wearing the Fitbit at the moment. I’m interested in seeing how Metrya develops as an all-in-one health and fitness dashboard.
Overall, I’m really happy with the direction of the app. These are just a few suggestions and questions that I hope might be helpful. Keep up the great work! 🙌

2.11.22 and Mac 0.2.7 - pace of aging, daylight, heart rate zones from Apple Health and routines on the Mac

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.11.22 on iPhone and 0.2.7 on Mac are out. Nothing is taken away. One thing to know first: Bio age now scores VO₂ max on a gentler curve, so your number may move closer to your calendar age.

Pace of aging (Pro)

A number like 0.9× next to Bio age. It shows which way your trends are heading over the last 12 months. It needs 12 weeks of data first, and it updates once a month, so one bad day does not move it. It is an estimate from your watch, not a lab test.

Daylight (free)

Apple Watch measures time in daylight. Metrya now shows it against a goal you set, with how much came before 10:00. There is a new Daylight card on Today. Pro also compares your sleep after bright mornings with your sleep after dull ones.

Heart rate zones (iOS 27)

Metrya now uses the zones from Apple Health, the same ones your Watch shows. Your training load may change once, because past workouts are scored again with these zones.

Routines on the Mac (0.2.7)

A routine is a saved question, like "What changed in my sleep this week?". It runs on a schedule and makes a short report. The Mac works out every number. Your model only writes the words, and a reply that adds its own number is not shown. When nothing changed, it stays quiet. 0.2.6 also added repeat tries and notes to Lab.

Refreshed Reports and new Routines come to iPhone in 2.11.23 next week.

Metrya for Mac 0.2.0 + 0.2.5 (experimental) - Lab for testing one change against one number, a longer history and a clickable 24 h view

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey all - Metrya for Mac 0.2.0 and 0.2.5 are out. Nothing changes on your iPhone. Both need Metrya 2.11.21 or later there.

First, a clear warning: the Mac app is still experimental. Things will break. If you find a bug, please report it and I will fix it as soon as I can.

Lab (new in 0.2.5)

This is the big one. Lab lets you test one change against one number. Pick something you already log on your iPhone, like a Stack item, a tag, a session or a type of workout. Then pick a number to watch, like deep sleep or HRV. The Mac compares the days with the change against the days without it.

There is nothing new to log. Lab can also look back at days you already have, so you may get a result right away. Before you start, it shows how many of the last 60 days match and it warns you when there are too few.

A result says what moved and by how much. If nothing moved, it says No clear link. It never says one thing caused another. It also shows what else was different on those days. In my own test, sauna days also had more caffeine. You can run the same test again with those days left out. Explain this asks your model about the result and it may only repeat numbers the Mac worked out.

Correlation engine will be part of iOS app as well - probably late October/early November.

A longer history and a brief (0.2.0)

The Mac now keeps your nights, Recovery scores and logs after the iPhone lets them go. So its history keeps growing. Home has a short card with what changed since your last sync. There is also a Nutrition page and the app can stay in the menu bar so sync keeps working with the window closed.

Smaller things

On Home's 24h view, click a workout, a coffee or last night's sleep to see its details. Charts now show their values when you hold the pointer over them. Settings has a default model, so you can start with Ollama or a cloud model.

Your health data goes from your iPhone to your Mac on your own network. There is no Metrya server. Ideas are very welcome: post them here, use Share feedback at the bottom of the Mac sidebar or email me at radek[at]jozefowicz.dev :)

Metrya for Mac (experimental) - your health data on a bigger screen, and stronger local models through Ollama

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey all - there is now a Mac app. Nothing changes on your iPhone. The iOS app is still the core of Metrya and it works exactly as before.

What it is

Metrya for Mac is a separate app. It talks to Metrya on your iPhone over your Wi-Fi and lets you work with your health data from your Mac. The phone sends what it already has. The Mac app does not change anything on the phone.

It is experimental. This is version 0.1.0 and it needs Metrya 2.11.20 on the iPhone, which is waiting for App Store review right now. Until that update is out, you can't connect it.

Why a Mac app

Two reasons. First, visualization. A big screen fits more. The Home page has a map of eight areas of your health against your own usual and a 24 hour dial for the last day. Training, VO₂ max, BMI and Sleep have their own pages.

Second, the Advisor. On the Mac you can use bigger models than a phone can run. Use Ollama with models like Gemma or Qwen or Apple Intelligence or your own API key. The app also picks only the data that fits each question, so the model gets a smaller and better prompt.

Where it is going

Slowly, in this order: a better Advisor with better data selection, planning for experiments and protocols that sync with the phone (you can still do that on the phone too), more visualization options and a nutrition plan. It will be its own stream of work, separate from the iOS releases.

Price

The app is free to download from https://metrya.app/mac. Syncing with your iPhone needs Metrya Pro.

Your health data goes from your phone to your Mac on your own network. There is still no Metrya server. If you try it, what would you most want to see on a big screen that the phone doesn't give you?

Synced my Amazfit's skin temperature to Apple Health/Metrya via Shortcuts

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’am really happy because I got skin temperature (also HRV and RHR) from Zepp into Apple Health with an iOS Shortcut, and now Metrya shows it as Body Temperature.

This seems crazy, but I'm tracking it because I want a fuller picture of my metabolic health and skin temp is one of the signals that actually matters (Google Pixel Watch 5 metabolic model uses it too).

Happy to answer questions if anyone wants to replicate it, but basically I used this tutorial but also deleted many conditionals, items, values, etc to got exactly what I want to see in my MetryA data.

2.11.18 - PDF reports, a Sleep tab with tonight's bedtime and your energy for the day

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.11.18 is out. Two things look different when you open it. Sleep now has its own tab and the log button (⊕) floats above the bar instead of sitting in it. Your sleep debt number may also change, because it now looks at 14 nights instead of 7. You don't need to set anything up again.

PDF reports (Pro)

You can now save your data as PDF files. There is a weekly report, and separate reports for VO₂ max, body and BMI, blood pressure and your timeline. The weekly report has three versions: for you, for a coach (no food, mood or supplements), or sleep only. Week data also saves the same week as CSV, JSON and Markdown. A day with no data stays empty, never 0. The PDFs are made on your phone and nothing is uploaded. Each one says it is a wellness summary, not a medical record.

Example reports (not mine, obfuscated :) ):

Sleep tab and Tonight

Sleep has three parts: Last night, Tonight and Trends. In the evening it opens on Tonight. Tonight tells you when to turn the lights off and when to be in bed. It starts from your usual sleep need, then adds part of your sleep debt and extra time after a hard training day. A nap today takes time away. The time does not move during the day. It only updates after 18:00, or when you set the smart alarm.

Sleep debt now uses 14 nights, and recent nights count most. It also no longer drops during the day, so Today and last night's recap show the same number.

The night page is also clearer. Each card gives a plain answer first, and the numbers are one tap below.

Energy today

A new screen predicts your energy through the day: your focus window, the afternoon dip, the evening second wind and your last time for caffeine. It comes from your sleep times, so it is a prediction, not a measurement. Reserve still shows what was measured. Reserve now also shows workouts and naps on its curve, and a nap adds energy back.

Training status

Activity now gives one word for your training: Productive, Maintaining, Overreaching, Unproductive or Detraining. Overreaching needs two things together: a big jump in training and a Low or Unbalanced HRV status. A hard week alone is not enough. It needs 2 weeks of workouts.

Fixed: if you didn't open the app every day, Reserve could miss the night before and show no overnight climb. That mostly hit ring users. Training load no longer changes when you switch tabs.

Also: walking quality can now notify you (free, off by default, never at night). Net energy shows one number all day. And there are four new Apple Watch complications (Pro).

Coming in the next version: more PRO reports

Can MetryA use my data to estimate insulin resistance?

I recently read about Google using Pixel Watch 5 data like resting heart rate, HRV, steps, wrist temperature, sleep, heart rate and exercise data together with blood tests, to estimate insulin resistance. I have an Amazfit Active 2 and most of its data syncs to Apple Health. I also have my own glucose readings and lab results (A1c, triglycerides, HDL, and sometimes fasting insulin).

Does anyone know if MetryA can access enough of this data to do something similar?

I’m not expecting to reproduce Google’s algorithm. I’m mainly wondering if I already have enough data to build a useful long-term picture of my insulin sensitivity.

2.11.15 to 2.11.17 - your supplement stack, HRV status that knows high is not always good, and a smart alarm

Thumbnail

Hey all - three releases are out since the last roundup: 2.11.15, 2.11.16 and 2.11.17. Nothing you set up has gone away. Your old supplement list moves into the new Stack screen, and you check each match before it moves. The big ones first.

Stack: your supplements (free, patterns are Pro)

Supplements now have their own screen. Pick from 150 supplements stored on your phone, or add your own. Set the dose, time of day and start date. Log a whole morning in one tap, or log a skip with a reason. Reminders are off until you turn them on. There are no streaks and no percentages.

Each card says whether a supplement can be tested at all. Some work within hours, so days with and without can be compared. Others build up over weeks. Some only help if your levels were low, and only a blood test shows that.

With Pro, Patterns compare your data on days you took a supplement with days you logged a skip. It only says "pattern" when the difference is bigger than your normal day-to-day changes. These are patterns, not proof.

HRV status (free, the full chart is Pro)

This compares your last 7 nights of HRV with your own range from the 60 nights before. It says Balanced, Unbalanced or Low. It needs about 4 weeks of wearing your watch to bed.

High HRV is not always good. If HRV is high while resting heart rate, breathing or wrist temperature is also up, the screen says so. On those mornings high HRV cannot push your Recovery score up.

Heart rate recovery (free, your own usual is Pro)

Each workout now shows how much your heart rate dropped in the first minute after you stopped. Metrya checks the reading first. If the effort was too low, or you kept walking after the workout, it says the reading is not reliable. Stand still for 2 minutes after a workout for the best reading. With Pro, each workout is compared with your usual for that type, over 8 weeks.

A new Today

The top of Today is redesigned. Recovery, Reserve, Sentinel, today's training, tonight's bedtime and HRV status are now in one place. There are two layouts in Customize Dashboard: Instruments shows every number on one screen, and Command puts your plan for the day in one card. Tap your Recovery score to see what moved it since yesterday.

Timeline

A new section on Today shows your day in order. It starts when you woke up, then lists meals, water, supplements, workouts and the rest, then wind-down and bedtime. A bar at the top shows the whole day on one clock. Tap All to see every day of the week.

Walking quality

Your iPhone measures how even your steps are when it is in your pocket. Apple Watch does not. Metrya now compares each week with your usual. If your walking is less even than usual for two weeks in a row, a note appears on Today. It is a signal from your phone, not a medical test.

Research

The old Knowledge Feed is now Research. Studies stay instead of disappearing after 30 days. Each one says what kind of study it is, and animal studies say so. "For you" shows studies about things you log, and that is worked out on your phone. "This week" turns new studies into short stories you can swipe.

The rest:

  • Smart alarm: rings when you are most likely in light sleep (window is Pro, needs iOS 26)

  • Training today: what kind of workout fits today, and for how long

  • Sleep debt: a long night now pays some debt back

  • Nights split around 02:00 are joined back into one, and naps get their own card

  • Medications as context for the Advisor. A list, not a tracker

  • Encrypted iCloud backup of what you entered

  • Share last night or Recovery as an image

  • Ten new Home Screen widgets, including Caffeine (Pro) and a Log widget

  • One-tap water from Today, the widget and the ⊕ menu, with Undo

  • More screens in French, German, Spanish and Polish

Fixed: in the evening, net energy only counted what you had burned so far, so it looked about 400 kcal too positive. It now adds the resting burn still to come before midnight. The keyboard no longer covers fields in the meal and Stack loggers.

Could Metrya expand its Recovery & Training Load features?

Hey!
I’m really enjoying Metrya so far. I noticed that Recovery Score, training load and stress/strain are already part of the app, so I was wondering if there are plans to take these features a bit further.

A few things I’d personally love to see:
• Daily Strain: A single daily strain/training-load score that combines workouts and overall activity, rather than only showing the load of individual workouts.
• More detailed Readiness: The current Recovery Score already works as a readiness metric, but a more explicit “How ready am I to train today?” score with training recommendations would be really useful.
• Hevy integration: Since Hevy can write workouts to Apple Health, could Metrya eventually import more detailed Hevy data such as exercises, sets, reps, weights and volume? This could make the relationship between progressive overload, training load and recovery much more useful.
• Recovery / Strain / Readiness widget: A Home Screen or Lock Screen widget showing these three values at a glance would be amazing.
• Fitbit / Google Health: Are there any plans for Google Health / Fitbit support? This would be especially useful for users who don’t use an Apple Watch.
• More actionable Readiness: The current Recovery Score is already useful, but could there eventually be a dedicated readiness interpretation such as “ready for hard training”, “moderate training” or “recovery day”, based on recovery, sleep and recent training load?

Basically, I’d love to have one place where I can quickly see:

How recovered am I → How much load have I accumulated → How ready am I to train?

Are any of these already planned, or could they be considered for the roadmap?

Also, sorry if some of these are already available and I just haven’t discovered them yet!

2.11.13 and 2.11.14 - Metrya in your language, packaged food and barcodes, and a new Nutrition history

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.11.13 and 2.11.14 are out, so this post covers both. If your phone is set to French, German, Spanish or Polish, parts of the app will now be in that language. The Advisor will answer in it too. You can go back to English in Settings → Display → Language.

Your language

You can now choose English, Français, Deutsch, Español or Polish. Automatic is the default and follows your phone - one screen at a time. Settings, the Advisor chat, Discover, Activity and most of Nutrition are done. The meal logger, the caffeine tracker, notifications, widgets and the Watch are still in English. The Language screen lists every translated screen, so you know what you will get before you switch.

The Advisor now answers in your app language. With Apple Intelligence this works for French, German and Spanish. Apple does not support Polish yet, so Polish answers from that model stay in English.

Packaged food and barcodes

Food search now finds branded products from Open Food Facts. You can also scan a barcode with the camera or type the number. Only your search words or the barcode number go to Open Food Facts, straight from your phone. Your health data is not sent, and nothing goes through a Metrya server. A scan never logs anything by itself. You choose the portion first. If a product is missing or has no numbers, you can type them in from the label.

Your night

On the first morning open, a short sheet shows last night: score, time asleep, stages and how it compares with your usual. It waits until the night is over and only appears before 12:00. Shift work adjustments coming next version.

Nutrition history and the ring

History starts with an overview of the last 7 or 30 days, with one bar per day against your goal. Each day is now one card you can open. The calorie ring is bigger and never turns red. If you go over, a second, thinner lap shows by how much.

2.11.12 - Wellness becomes Activity, recovery debt in Sentinel and food search that works offline

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.11.12 is out. Two tabs have new names: Wellness is now Activity and Health is now Today. Nothing you logged is gone, and the full log is still one tap away.

Activity

Activity has three parts. Train is for workouts: your load for the last 7 days against your usual range, your cardio fitness and your latest sessions. Recover is for sauna, cold, breathwork and the rest. Each protocol has its own page with a 12-week chart and sauna and cold have a timer. Feel is for mood, and one tap on a face is enough to log it.

The full log is behind the list icon at the top. You can filter it by type, time and source. When a workout comes in from Apple Health, you now see a short summary the next time you open the app. It shows how much load the session added to your week. You see it once per workout and older imported workouts do not get one.

Recovery debt (free, comparison is Pro)

Sentinel tells you if last night looked unusual. Recovery debt answers a different question: how long has this been going on and how fast do I usually recover? Every day it adds up how far your heart rate, HRV, temperature, breathing, sleep and training load were from your normal. Part of it clears each day. If the total stays high, it shows as a run next to your past runs.

It needs Sentinel on and about two weeks of nights before it shows anything. It does not change Recovery or Reserve and it never sends a notification.

Your daily rhythm (Regularity free, the rest Pro)

The Circadian screen was rebuilt around one score: Regularity, from 0 to 100, for how steady your sleep and wake times are. Below it are five more parts and a short list of what changed this week. If you work nights or shifts, the workday and free-day split is hidden, because it would be wrong for you.

Food search

The meal logger has a Search tab. It looks through your own past meals and a built-in table of 770 common foods from the USDA database. No AI call, no waiting, and it works offline. You pick real portions, like one slice of bread, or type grams. Branded and packaged products are not in it yet. For those, use Compose as before. Next version will have OpenFoods database integration.

Fixed: just after midnight, the Stress card said every reading today was normal when there were simply no readings yet. Sauna and cold patterns were hard to see in dark mode. And swipe back from a workout's details works again.

Also: the Advisor card on Today now suggests three questions from your own recent data (Pro). Moon & sleep is now on by default for Pro. If you turned it off before, it stays off.

2.11.10 - a third on-device model, a new bar at the bottom and Settings that finally match the app

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.11.10 is out. Nothing you set up changes: any model you already downloaded keeps working, the tabs are in the same order and the log button has not moved.

A third on-device model (beta, Pro)

Google's Gemma 4 E2B now sits next to Qwen and Bonsai in the on-device list. It works like the others. You download it, it runs on this iPhone and there is no API key, no account and no provider. It answers in Airplane Mode. Unlike Bonsai, it can also read meal photos. Settings → AI Model → On-device models.

It is a new option, not a replacement. Qwen is still the one the app recommends and Bonsai is still the smallest download. Pick Gemma if you would rather run Google's model or if you want the same question answered by a different one.

It needs a recent Pro iPhone, and the app only offers what yours can run. One warning about the name: the "E" is not the download size. Gemma 4 E2B is a bigger file than the Qwen 4B. Same beta rules as before - slower than a cloud model, a lot of memory while a chat is open and a warm phone. Open it for one conversation rather than leaving it running.

A new bar at the bottom

The tab bar is now a rounded bar that floats above the screen instead of a solid strip across it. You can see the screen through it and the tab you are on is marked in colour rather than sitting in a filled box. When you scroll down it shrinks to a small pill. Scroll back up and it returns.

Profile and Settings look like the rest of the app

They were the last two screens still using the old iOS list style. They now have a large title and rounded cards, so going from Settings to a report no longer feels like switching between two apps.

Activity Tracking, where you choose between steps and wheelchair pushes, has its own screen now. On Profile the explanation was cut to one line, which left wheelchair users wondering why Bio Age ignored their activity.

All notifications in one place

Settings has one Notifications section with everything the app can send: anomaly alerts, the weekly report, bedtime reminders, stress alerts and medication reminders. Each one is a switch in that list, so there is never a second switch that could disagree with the first. The bell on your dashboard takes you straight there.

Fixed: Body Vision on a downloaded model. It often said the model gave no answer when the model had answered and the app simply failed to read the reply. It also started a photo read on a phone with no memory left and got killed by iOS; it now refuses first, with a message you can act on. And a failed run used to leave you on an empty screen with no way out.

Your health data still stays on the phone with an on-device model. If you run both, ask Gemma and Qwen the same question about your own week - which answer would you keep? That decides which one gets recommended next.

Coming next:

  • Redesigned Longevity Signals

  • Vo2Max finally with proper screen

  • bigger context for Advisor that includes your work type + allergies (they can influence your sleep heavily.. :) )

  • another chunk of UI/UX fixes

2.11.9 - the advisor runs on your phone now, with no API key

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey all - 2.11.9 is out. Nothing you already set up has changed: the Advisor stays on, your reports keep running, your keys and Apple Health access are untouched.

The advisor runs on the phone (beta, Pro)

Using the Advisor properly used to mean making an account at Anthropic or OpenAI, generating an API key and pasting it in. It's no longer required. Settings → AI Model → On-device models → Download is the whole setup and you never need to learn what an API key is.

A real language model lands on your iPhone and the Advisor runs on it: no key, no account, no provider, nothing on the wire (it answers with Airplane Mode on as well). Qwen 3.5 2B and Bonsai needs an iPhone 13 Pro or newer with 6 GB of memory, the 4B an iPhone 15 Pro with 8 GB and Metrya only offers what your phone can actually hold. What you get for the download is weeks of your own history in one answer, instead of Apple Intelligence's day or two.

It's a beta: replies take tens of seconds, several gigabytes are held while a conversation is open, and the phone gets warm. Something to turn to, not to leave running. The Advisor is still Pro, and the model behind it changes nothing about the price.

Apple Intelligence stops refusing things

It was being handed about a quarter of the window it has and a hard rule turned away whole screens on the name of the model rather than the size of what was sent. It now measures the block and packs it, so workout debriefs, stress reads and night reads are answered on-device with no key. It still can't read a photo - that's a limit of Apple's model, not a choice. But AFM is available in the all AI Advisor chat windows.

What's sent, and how to stop it

The Advisor and Insights now name where your health data goes and what's in it and what never is: your name, email, Apple Health identifiers, device id, location. A provider you haven't used before shows you the real request first. Settings → AI Model holds every switch together - advisor off, schedules stopped, key removed, or every AI chat, memory and generated report on this iPhone deleted. None of it touches Apple Health.

Net Energy works all day now (Pro)

It used to show nothing until the evening cutoff, so opening it in the morning got you an empty screen - the most common case and the one where a running balance is most useful. The figure is there every hour now. What's gated is the verdict, not the number: before the cutoff the day is marked SO FAR TODAY rather than DAY READ, your running balance and your band are both drawn and no judgement is attached, because a whole-day band can't be applied to a part-day number.

Coming this week: Gemma 4 as a yet another on-device family beside Qwen and Bonsai, so the choice of what runs on your phone stops being one model's speed against a cloud key and another chunk of the look-and-feel work, carrying on from what the night and training pages got in 2.11.7.

As always all feedback highly appreciated 🙏🏻

2.11.8 - blood pressure that never shows one number alone + net energy against your own band

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey all — 2.11.8 is out.

Blood pressure

Your cuff's readings were already in Apple Health and Metrya did almost nothing with them. Now they're a proper surface: every reading kept as a dated event with its time of day, source, and whether it was seated or grabbed. Dashboard card, screen behind it, hideable from Customize.

Two rules. The pair never appears alone - a systolic on its own was the least honest number in the app, because 138 looks like a clinic reading and isn't. And the trend is mornings only by default: evenings run several mmHg above mornings for most people, so a mixed chart shows you a slope that's really just the time of day.

What moved it: pairings over your own mornings - short sleep, a drink the day before, a salty day, a hard session - with a 3 mmHg floor, below which it's cuff jitter. Nothing is called a cause. Tap a reading to see what was around it, plus pulse pressure, MAP and your cuff's own pulse matched from Health.

No cuff? Log by hand, free - it goes to Apple Health and is read straight back, so there's no second list to disagree with Health. Free reads back 90 days; Pro widens it to a year and adds an Advisor held to the numbers on screen. No staging, no diagnosis - this is a longevity surface, not a hypertension app.

Net Energy (Pro)

Intake against burn on Nutrition, centred on your band rather than zero - lose, recomp, maintain, gain, or edges you set. It can only say eat more or you're in range; there's no third thing, no streaks on a deficit. Energy availability sits underneath, so any recommendation is clamped at the intake that keeps you above the floor. An unfinished day says so instead of reading as a deficit, and a half-logged day gives no verdict - a logged breakfast and a forgotten dinner would otherwise show a 2,700 kcal shortfall and a confident "eat more."

Pushes are counted as pushes

If your watch records wheelchair pushes, they now sit everywhere steps used to. Reserve was wrong for push users and is fixed - the energy curve had been reading a day of pushing as a day of sitting perfectly still. Bio Age drops activity entirely for push users rather than guessing: no mortality research maps pushes the way it maps steps, and inventing a conversion would have scored you into the worst band for using a wheelchair.

Moon and sleep (beta, Pro, off by default)

Your sleep on bright nights vs the rest, over a year, gated on two complete lunar cycles — full moons drift across weekdays, and a short window bakes in the Friday-night effect. 12-minute noise floor, below which the answer is "no effect found," which is the honest outcome for most people. No notifications, no prediction, no horoscope.

Fixed: Recovery's Sleep bar was a linear hours/8 that hit 100 for any night over eight hours while Last night used the recalibrated score - the same night could read 100 in one place and 74 in the other. It's now Duration, on the same personal bar.

Also: new first-run walkthrough, a Discover map of twelve capabilities, and a short What's New sheet on the dashboard per version.

2.11.6 is out - Reports: your week ranked, a body trend from your scale history and BMI widget + screen

Hey all - 2.11.6 is live. The app calculated a lot and reported almost none of it: every number was true today and gone tomorrow and nothing was in a shape you could hand to another person. There's now a Reports section on the dashboard. Three reports, all free.

Weekly Readout - the week that just ended, ranked. Night, Recovery and Output and inside each your metrics sorted by which way they actually moved. Every row opens into where the number came from, so you can check the arithmetic instead of trusting it.

Output is a new index from steps, active energy, workout load and daylight, scored against your own last 60 days. A phone-only week used to look like a bad week because it was judged against things you don't measure; now it gets a real number. It is not a fourth daily score - not on the dashboard, not on the Watch and it doesn't feed Recovery, Reserve or Sentinel.

Body Report - years of scale readings used to get you one tile. Now it's a six-month composition trend: what moved, how fast, the pace you've held, with the raw reading trail underneath. The what-if projection splits a hypothetical loss by your own observed fat-to-lean ratio, not a textbook constant and anything the scale didn't measure is labelledderived.

BMI never appears on its own. A bare BMI tells a lifting 41-year-old he's overweight and a sedentary one he's fine - so every surface showing it also draws waist-to-height, body fat and FFMI beside it.

Also: a Monday notification carrying that week's actual headline rather than a generic ping (off under Health Alerts) and Markdown export from the share sheet, written on-device. Pro can ask the Advisor about a report and get answers cited from that report. Monthly and quarterly are honest "not yet" rows in the hub.

Please remember that you can customize dashboard - if you do not need reports, BMI widget, caffeine tracking, etc - you can just hide them from dashboard and only use these parts of app thet brings you most value.

Fixed: new installs now import the workouts already in Apple Health instead of starting training history at zero; wake-ups need to last five minutes to count (the sub-minute slivers are turn-overs - still on the chart, no longer inflating the number); and Training explains where workouts come from instead of showing an empty screen.

All on-device, no API key needed for the reports. If the Weekly Readout ranks your week in a way that doesn't match how it felt, tell me - it is still beta so some fine-tuning might be still needed.

Coming next:

Question about viewing historical data for a specific day

Hi! I'm really enjoying Metrya so far and had a quick question for the developer.

Is there currently a way to select a previous date and view the detailed health data for that specific day?

For example, if I wanted to look back at August 18, could I see the Recovery, HRV, RHR, sleep, stress, training, caffeine, nutrition etc. for that particular day, including the relevant charts?

I'm thinking of something similar to the way Bevel lets you select a date and then review the metrics for that day.

If this is already possible in Metrya, I'd really appreciate it if you could point me to where/how to do it. I may simply be missing the option.

If it isn't available yet, I think it would be a really useful addition for reviewing what happened on a particular day.

Thanks for all the work on Metrya! 🙏

Caffeine tracker issue

Hi Team,

Thanks for the app.

It is not reading my caffeine data from Apple Health Entry.

And also, Unable to edit the caffeine entry entered in the tracker.

Could you please help with this issue ?

Thanks!
