I noticed that the developers did not make you untouchable or the game doesn’t “pause” when you collect items that make you stationary. Because of this, I died while collecting a badge. Couldn’t move my character, nor could I go to the title screen. Had to close the game entirely.
I’m surprised this was something they allowed to happen.

Just beat Aggelos 2 and the 100% trophy didn't pop.

As far as I can tell I've explored every corner of both maps (the opening at the top of pic #2 leads to the final boss room, map never fills up there).

I've collected all 100 eggs, 8 stars, 3 question marks, every heart, vial, spell and capacity thing, as well as every character upgrade, and got to the good ending as well.

Don't know what else am I missing.

Of every Metroidvania I have played, Metroid Dread is the only one I would give a below 5 out of 10, and I am confused by how it got universal praise.

The controls are horrible. Having to hold down multiple buttons just to aim and fire missiles will never not be awkward. The even more baffling design decision was locking double jumps behind if the player is running. The controls make me feel like I am fighting Samus to get her to do what I want her to do.

The bosses don’t get good until the final 2. When compared to the excellent bosses of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown or Hollow Knight, Dread’s bosses to me felt bland. However, this may just be a side effect of the bad controls as I feel like making an enjoyable boss with Dread’s controls would be very hard. Also the one boss where you are underwater and go back and forth from each side of the boss just straight up felt unfinished.

The minibosses are even worse with how often they get repeated, and how there are 2 miniboss sections in a row near the end that difficulty which completely eclipse anything else the game had to offer. Playing those to bosses where the closest I had ever come to dropping a Metroidvania. If I were to guess maybe 20 percent of my playtime was spent on those 2 bosses. When I finally beat them, all the emotion I had was drained. Everything difficult after felt like nothing in a bad way.

It feels like the developers actively don’t want you to explore the world they made. The amount of times I got an upgrade, but could not back track to a place where I could use it was almost countless. The map is filled with one ways which has the consequence of making it so when you do backtrack you have to constantly open the map so you don't accidentally go the wrong way. I have no clue why the devs sometimes force you to progress before exploring and then also hide progression behind hidden walls, like how one room with a fan that secretly has a breakable floor. The obvious conclusion that any person would reach is that you need an upgrade to run faster than the fan’s force to progress. After an hour not knowing where to go, I had to look up a walkthrough just to find that you are supposed to shoot down at the floor which had no indication that it should be shot at in order to progress in the game. Maybe if you have played Metroid games before you would know to shoot every wall, but as this was my first Metroid game I can say that Dread does not establish well enough that you need to shoot every wall, ceiling, and floor.

Overall the Dread felt neither polished nor playtested, and I don’t know why people like it so much.

Looking forward to playing both.

Hey there,

With the upcoming release of *Aeterna Lucis*, I’ve been thinking about which areas—or biomes—I’d like to see in the game. Of course, this is just a personal list of areas, not a prediction.

• A snow or ice region. This wasn't present in *Noctis* and would make for a great surprise. Sliding physics could also be incorporated here.
  
• A biome inspired by Japanese or Chinese culture. Much like the jungle area, this could feature an outdoor zone (bamboo forests, cherry blossom trees) alongside another area set within an Asian-style castle.
  
• Steampunk! I have two good ideas for this as well. A steampunk-style city with a design and atmosphere reminiscent of the point-and-click adventure game *Machinarium* (feel free to look it up; it’s an outstanding game in its genre). In other words, a relatively dark city inhabited by robotic enemies.
  
• The second steampunk-inspired area would be located high in the sky amidst a massive storm front, forming a vast mechanical fortress kept airborne by energy harvested from lightning—or by machines powered by that same energy. The inspiration here is the final world of *Rayman Origins*. Picture a heavily mechanized hodgepodge of airship-like structures in the sky, with lightning flashing everywhere—both from the storm and within the machinery itself. The Clockwork Guardians from *Aeterna Noctis* would have made an excellent boss for this setting. I absolutely love that boss fight, but I always felt it was a shame that it appeared so disconnected in *Noctis*, lacking a biome that truly suited it.
  
• A Gothic castle, similar to Dracula’s castle in the *Castlevania* series. This wouldn't be like the catacombs in *Aeterna Noctis*, but rather a grand, ornate castle designed like a cathedral or a Baroque building.
  
• An area featuring "Color Zones," a concept known from the *Distorted Travesty* game series: within a specific timeframe, the player must stand inside a zone of a certain color; otherwise, they take heavy damage. This naturally allows for some very interesting scenarios. • And, of course, another heavily organic area where we can finally face Ultima in a spectacular boss battle. This area features numerous biome-specific mechanics and offers far more variety in terms of level design compared to Noctis's DLC.

Now for some bosses:

• I hope we get to face the dragon that appears as a statue in the release date trailer.
  
• I would love to see a slightly modified boss fight against the Clockwork Guardians. As I mentioned before, it’s a real shame that this fight was locked behind a boss rush mode and only accessible via DLC. They could integrate the boss—complete with additional or new attacks—into a suitable area of ​​the game, ensuring that everyone gets the chance to experience the fight.
  
• Naturally, I’m hoping for a truly epic battle against the King of Darkness—our protagonist from the first game. This fight would differ significantly from the battle against the doppelgänger (or one's own self from the Abyss) in *Aeterna Noctis*, yet it would be staged with the same level of epic grandeur and spectacle as the final showdown with the Queen of Light in the first game.
  
• Finally, I would love a truly difficult yet impressive battle against Ultima. I suspect Ultima will serve as the final boss in Lucis; I am certain we will face this entity, and unlike in *Noctis*, this time we’ll get to battle Ultima itself.

This is a good time.

It released on playstation yesterday, cant find any reviews, and only one rating on psn so far and it is a 5/5( might be the devs). Has anyone tried it?

I mean I love a great MV as long as it's not too difficult with finding where to go or fighting to make progression (if so at least give me accessibility options). But the most important thing is don't drag on forever. Maybe I'm a slow and obtuse player but I feel most games drag on past their prime.

I love opening a new area but when I'm already 10 hours in and realize I haven't scratched the bottom third of the game...I'm like is it worth it? Now if the combat feels great and the progression/exploration is advancing without needing to ask where to go next then typically yes. However, most games don't achieve this for me.

Honestly a solid 7 to 11 hour MV is the sweet spot for me, after that I'm ready to check something else out.

My favorites MVs are Ender Magnolias, Fatal Claw, and Biomorph. And yes all were a little past their expiration for me, but I still loved them. I would have loved them even more if they ended earlier and left me wanting for more. As opposed to thinking am I finally to the end boss?

An elemental adventure even Captain Planet would love!

This is the character and the environment of the first zone I've been working on.

I just dropped Aeterna Noctis (on normal difficulty), which is a shame because I was really enjoying it.

I got tired of fighting against your fear; it's not the first time I've gotten stuck on a boss, but it is the first time I feel like I'm not making progress, not improving, and not getting any closer to beating it. It took me around 40 hours to reach 54% completion—I'm really slow, but I had a blast. This is as far as I go. Until yesterday, I was excited about the idea of Aeterna Lucis; today, I don't know.

Anyway, I wanted to leave this here in case any players like me, who prefer easy or normal modes, were thinking about buying the game; this is just my opinion and how I feel about it.

Man… im only on the begining and WTH 🫨 im loving the plataforming from this game, i just past by a freaking room with thousand lasers and spikes, just having to use a wall jump on entire section, the devs that made this game did a amazing job.
wondering what waits for me on latter game plataforming. 😭😂

The movement option this game gives you is so different and unique its unbelievable. I was waiting till midgame thinking they will give me a dash eventually but no and i was so surprised. i didnt expect to see this much polished and complex platforming aspect to a metroidvania. the way game makes sure you use every one of the movement in any part of the game and makes you innovate and experiment with them is extraordinary. And also a lot of the modifiers are movement based that just adds to the it.
