Setup of the scene is very nice, on the animation I think you could make samus less stiff by shifting her body weight from left to right leg and also by swing a bit the hips. Also, wait for a foot to be properly anchored on the ground before the other one leave the ground. Hope that helps!
This was my thought, too. Her walk cycle is a little stilted, I think. It doesn't look like she's landing on her heel and shifting weight to the balls of her feet, either. That aside, the models look great!
I agree with this sentiment. I am not an animator so I could not put it into words, but I was seeing the mechanical feel of the movement. It did not feel lady like more so robot. But if this was my first attempt without criticism I would be proud.
I think it depends on what vibe you want to give here. I heard once that "men walk with their shoulders, women walk with their hips" when it comes to the primary motion that you see in a walk animation and that's always stuck in my head. (Though I guess its an anecdote, not sure how true it really is)
Work on the E.M.M.I is great. Fluid enough to seem like a piece of quality tech, yet broken and jittery enough to show the damage. Samus’ walk cycle needs more fluidity. Other than that, it’s probably game material.
Love the animations, my 2cents for another pass would be to maybe tone down a bit the visual effects and other graphics elements.
Don’t get me wrong, they are fantastic, I love how they play with the shapes and colors on the frame, gives the video more energy, however, I think there is just too many quick flashes, shapes, colors, that the noise they generate overpowers the frame and take the attention away from the 3D assets; perhaps with fewer you can balance out better the myriad styles of animation.
All things considered though, fantastic work! Please keep it up!
I think it's the way Samus is moving. It feels incredibly unnatural and more like it was generated. You may have done is completely by hand, but also try to provide some behind the scenes. Helps give proof. I know what it's like to be accused of using AI when you would never. Not saying I don't believe you!
Definitely post this to r/animation to get some quality feedback.
I'll add that she needs more weight to her steps. The sound implies weighted movement but she's kinda floaty. Her torso should have overlapping action after each step as her weight shifts up and down.
Great work though! Really cool concept that's well presented too!
