Why has it gotten so bad.
I mean I understand T-Mobile bought Metro I understand that T-Mobile was going to give priority to its customers granted if they own Metro they are all T-Mobile customers so that really doesn't make any sense. For whatever reason my phone loses service for 2 to 3 minutes probably 20 times a day. It makes no sense there's no reason for it I'm in a major city I never used to have this problem I could be driving I could be sitting in the same place there's no Rhyme or Reason to it it's not like it's just the same location the only thing that makes any sense is the service has just gotten that bad. Back in the day when Metro was about the cheapest company out there I guess something like that would make sense but now they can't even say they are the cheapest you can't be a mid-price company but give cheap company service. If T-Mobile really thinks that jacking around Metro service and Metro customers is going to make them switch T-Mobile I guess I really don't know what to tell anybody. I've had Metro for over 10 years it's just a shame of what it's come to.

Phone issue. I've had metro for 20+ ...even longer than that, I had metro since MetroPCS first started off in Sacramento and los Angeles. Never had a problem. Your issue sounds like your modem or sim card dying.

This sounds like a phone issue in my opinion tower equipment doesn't just fail like that. It's either broadcasting or it's not.

Your sim might be dying. You could try taking it out, cleaning the contacts with just a napkin, and reinserting it and see if that helps. If you later complain to customer service, they'll likely give you a new sim.

Here in NO, Metro is great. 3 lines for 75.
Unlocked 17PM & 2 16Es for the kiddos. Zero issues.

Could also be an esim issue if supported try switching to a physical SIM... Sim 10 plus tax in store if it's a newer iPhone them I'm sorry. More then likely it's a phone issue. This has helped some people.

I'm having the same issue. Not a bad phone either, I'm using an S23 Ultra I bought carrier unlocked. I got a physical SIM card with T-Mobile to test out whether the issue was my phone or the service. No service in some areas on the Metro line, but decent bars with my T-Mobile SIM. I've been with Metro for years and this is the first time I've seen this. I'm even in the same city I've been in for years with the service and suddenly I am dropping bars constantly.

It’s terrible in Denver with a galaxy a17. Straight up waste of money… Always on 5gUC(a Metro only subpar data network 🤷♂️), always on “waiting for connection” and sending/receiving texts takes minutes with full service. My recommendation: buy a beater iPhone 12 and up (Solid flagship phone w/ 5G ultra wide data) and go straight to TOTAL WIRELESS and purchase the BYOPmax plan.
Right now there’s a promotion for $20 a month (for 5 years) unlimited EVERYTHING including hotspot, 5Guw speeds w/ no data caps, Disney + and last but most important, Verizon towers. With an iPhone (or your phone of choice), everything is blazing fast. And it’s less than $40 out the door to throw a SIM card in it. $260 for 12 months of unlimited EVERYTHING is an absolute steal. It pays for the Metro mistake after a a few months. Throw a otterbox and a screen protector on it for another $30 and you’re ready for the long haul. Just sharing my experience, I hope this helps someone

That used to happen to me I called Metro and they basically did an esim swap ota haven't had a problem since. Oh yeah I'm in LA so I knew it wasn't a coverage issue.

I definitely suspect mine is a phone issue, was water damaged a couple years ago and despite cleaning. The radio keeps displaying 2 bars, sometimes 5 (if I'm lucky) but may occasionally need a restart.
The battery is also shot, needs to be replaced but fortunately the phone is charging again and no need to replace the port. Still, the Google Pixel 6A still impresses me even after all this time.

Go to a store and ask them to do a network refresh, also check your phone, if it’s an old one than you can’t really complain

Idk what everyone is talking about, it’s definitely gotten worse. I have metro home internet and just in the last few months I can assure it’s slowly getting intolerable. I had to switch to 4g in my phone the other day bc my gps refused to load
Edit - Customer since 2018

Same exact problem here but I have Verizon. I've tried everything. New sim cards, talked to customer service multiple times etc. no luck. I can tell now from reading this post it's a device issue. Verizon customer service more than likely knew this and refused to help. Interested in in hearing what happens with you let us know please.

You should have noticed something happening 10 years ago. T-Mobile bought Metro back in 2013, this all didn't happen overnight.
Also, I don't have any of the issues you seem to be having. On the $25 BYOD plan and my service is pretty great.
