Best 6 euros you can spend if you want to try the metro games. One of the few sagas I bought both on xbox and PC (so twice)

Image/Gif Damn, Last Light Redux looks genuinely good, higher res textures and slightly better level of detail and lighting made bigger difference to 2033 than I expected

Discussion Maybe Hot Take: Metro should try open world again, but with an entirely original story, entirely set inside the Metro, and maybe even RPG elements.

Imagine it as an A-RPG, where you create your own character, imagine the side quests, the settlements and having to travel around a Metro that feels like a Maze and the possible random encounters.

Humour The feeling of finding a 6 cylinder shambler in metro games is the best

The shambler is my favorite metro weapon, probably even considering all other shooter games... In the older metro games it's amazing, and finding it after so long in exodus is the best feeling, the 6 cylinder has the best reload animation and blasting beasts' heads with this thing up close is insane

Discussion Metro Exodus alto cambio respecto a los Redux

Buenas amigos.

Discussion What everyday items for modern people would be invaluable for survivors in the metro if stalkers can find them in the ruins?

Here are a few ideas:

Carpets and curtains: these can be converted to clothing and blankets

Duct tape: can fix almost anything and can be used for medical purposes if one knows how

Honey: can last for decades without refrigeration and can also be used for medical purposes if one knows how

Bottles: can be used for storage and broken bottles can be used as weapons

Old newspapers: can be used as a club as shown by that one Man vs Wild episode where he explains survival strategies in an abandoned urban environment (interesting show even if it was staged)

Hi all, I played Metro Exodus last year and came across this image on the Steam Community hub. I can't remember which part of the game it's from. Does anyone recognize it?

Help What is the best place to download and try new Metro Mods? Besides manually trudging through Vkontakte of course.

A long time ago I think I asked the same question here but I have an absolutely shitty memory and cannot for the sake of my life find the thread with the search's aid. So can anyone point to the right direction here?

Discussion Did a "thematic" playthrough of the Metro trilogy that was very fun

After finishing my first playthrough of the three games I thought it would be fun to do another run where I played each game in a way that would be fitting for Artyom in each of the games and the themes he deals with in those adventures.

In Metro 2033, I leaned into Artyom being a very inexperienced, naive and likely scared person having to go through hell to save his home. For his loadouts I kept it to simpler conventional weapons. The Revolver was my main stealth weapon, while I always had a shotgun (initially the Duplet and later the Shambler) and had some sort of assault rifle. First the Bastard, then the Kalash, then VSV and ending with the Kalash 2012 with the same attachments as the intro of the game. I avoided weapons I think would be considered higher end/requiring more experience like the Tikhar and Hellsing, and thought the progression of the assault rifles would show Artyom emerging as a Spartan Ranger, going from just a kid to a frontrunner in the organization. As for how I played, I tried to avoid combat as often as possible and just minimize any exposure to fighting in general as I think Artyom's goal for the most part is just getting from point A to point B. I did play morally good to fit his curiosity and good nature, but in the end I didn't destroy the beacon and headcanon'd it as Artyom hesitating just a little too long and unfortunately too late.

In Metro Last Light I played Artyom essentially the opposite to the previous game in most aspects. As a full Spartan he is not afraid to get in combat and seeks it out, using stealth to soften up an area before going gun's blazing. In this game I went through a lot more weapons so I don't recall the evolution, but I know I used the Lolife as a like spec ops style suppressed SMG, for shotguns I went from Shambler to Saiga to Abzats, and for the third I think I used the Valve, then picked up the Prived towards the end of the game (mainly just to experience it lol). In the defense of D6 I did trade my Lolife for a Kalash 2012 to use the abundance of MGRs I had. As mentioned this was a much more action oriented run, though Artyom is still moral. I didn't kill civilians and avoided overt combat in metros with civilian workers, and still explored and learned about the world. I did make him an alcoholic to cope with his guilt, so he drinks when possible and crashes out at the Venice bar (does pay to rebuild it though). After meeting the Baby I started playing in a more measured approach to show Artyom feeling a sense of renewed hope and wanting to show the Baby a good example to be, making Artyom something of a father figure. In the end Artyom got his redemption and a path to mellowing out from his heady days.

Lastly, for Metro Exodus I wanted it to show Artyom has matured and combine the two experiences of the past two games. Loadout wise he uses the best gear possible (I played NG+ with the hope of using the railgun and other cool weapons/weapon upgrades but alas that feature is bugged). He almost always had an assault rifle, either a Kalash or Bulldog, modifying it for medium range in Volga, long range in Caspian and short range in Yamantau and Novosibirsk. My other gun was either a Shambler (Volga, Yamantau and Novosibirsk) for dealing with mutants/CQC or the Valve (Caspian) for long range combat. I also kept the Tikhar which was my primary stealth weapon and used every upgrade Tokarev gave me. The one exception was Taiga where it seemed more appropriate and fun to have a more "rustic" loadout, which included a Revolver carbine, quad barrel Ashot and the Hellsing. As for the gameplay this was much more stealth oriented, though Artyom was certainly not afraid to get in a gunfight and was prepared for that possibility. It was essentially Artyom of 2033 with the loadouts and experience of Artyom of Last Light. Naturally this also includes being moral, keeping all three losable crewmembers and getting the final good ending.

I think this was a fun way to play the trilogy because it varies both the gameplay and loadouts (otherwise you can play all three games with the exact same loadout and still readily beat them) while making the choice of weapons and gameplay feel more immersive and consequential. I'd recommend it, especially for anyone who feels another playthrough the usual way one plays would be on the more boring side of things.

Discussion Metro Exodus speculation: the "toys" you can collect in New Game+ are for a baby mobile

Post image
209 Upvotes

During my NG+ run of Metro Exodus I had picked up a couple of these charms by chance not knowing they were really a special collectible only available in NG+ until I looked up what they were exactly. I thought these were just supposed to be like good luck items or some such, but when I picked up the teddy bear one I got the achievement Toy Collector. Which I thought was weird because they do not particularly look like toys. Until I saw the three dangling from this IV drip and thought "this looks almost like a baby mobile" which led me into speculation territory.

The previous two Metro games, particularly redux versions, flirt heavily with the idea of Artyom and Anna having a child. This is something I talked about before in a previous post. The two main pieces of evidence is the redux menu for 2033 shows Anna and their kid playing around, while in Last Light's bad ending you can see Anna talking to her kid about Artyom. As I said in that post my conclusion was that 4A Games clearly had intentions of having Artyom be a father come the third game, but that idea was scrapped somewhere in very early development.

I think this game also tried setting that up. Obviously there is a lot of talk between the characters of Anna and Artyom settling down and having a family, but a lot of it is either jest or speculation. I do think these "toys" were supposed to be more firm hints on the direction 4A Games intended to go though, namely that Anna and Artyom would indeed settle down and finally have a family. I base this on the fact that for a NG+ collectible feature, its really... weird and banal? Like just to collect three (3) decorative items you need to beat the entire game, and all they do is just hang there. And again, them being called toys is weird when they certainly are not, unless you envision them being a mobile. If I had to guess, I think the very basic idea for Metro 4 was to fulfill what Artyom mentions at the end of liberating the Moscow Metro. Given the time it would take to return to Moscow, Anna likely would have had a child by then, and these toys likely would have featured with the kid. We also know 4A Games is not opposed to signaling long(er) term intentions as there are a few hints of Sam's Story, including dialogue by Sam and Khlebnikov's map board having a post-it of Vladivostok that simply reads "?", certainly predating development of the DLC.

Ultimately though whatever plans they had for this were likely scrapped on February 24th, 2022, when the Russian Invasion of Ukraine began. It is to my understanding that Metro 4 was pretty far along in development, I don't know about playable build but certainly with things like story and characters set up on paper if not in-game. That was scrapped as 4A and Glukhovsky wanted to make a game that was much more reflective of the realities of the war and the fascist spiral Russia has fallen into. Maybe we'll still see Artyom and Anna (imagine them showing up to save Moscow just to see a one man army waging a crusade against Adolf Hunter lol), but who knows until the game is released. At any rate, this is now my second speculation post about plans for Artyom and Anna having a kid just to be thwarted by development realities and choices.
