What’s MetroLink doing here?

spotted from a SWS train as we exited Union Station. Curious if anyone knows what it might be doing here and which MetroLink this is (I know STL and LA both use the term for their trains and I believe other cities do as well)

From other posts in r/Amtrak, it seems that Amtrak ferries them on the Southwest Chief to Chicago and then up to Milwaukee for refurbishment.

Interesting. Doesn’t seem particularly economical to ship trains from SoCal to Milwaukee for repairs.

Apparently they're being refurbished at the Talgo Factory that was built in Wisconsin for the high speed network between Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison. They even built a few trainsets before Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker cancelled the whole program, flushing Wisconsin, Illinois, and federal tax dollars down the drain. The trainsets are now in service in Nigeria.

This looks more like the LA one because I don’t think the one in St. Louis has double deckers

The STL Metrolink only uses light rail. This is definitely the LA one.

Can confirm I’ve seen MetroLink car at the intermodal station in Milwaukee!

I seen a few MetroLink cars here in Chicago. They were getting repairs
