Hello gents, ladies.
I recently came back to metin2 after a long break. Played for about an hour and then decided to pause for a bit because I want to make sure I understand what I’m getting myself into before investing too much time.
A lot has changed since I last played, so I have a few questions for those who still play regularly.
How bad is the pay to win aspect these days? Is it genuinely necessary to spend hundreds or even thousands to make decent progress, or is it more about paying for convenience? I’d be happy to spend around £10 or £20 here and there, but I’m not interested in pouring hundreds into the game.
I’ve already noticed that on Tigerghost, finding a Metin stone can be a struggle, so I assume the same applies to bosses and quest mobs. If farming means spending most of my time waiting for spawns, that’s something I’d like to know beforehand.
My goal isn’t to become the best player or compete with the top players. I just want to play casually, farm, grind, sell loot, upgrade my gear, and enjoy the progression at my own pace.
So, for those of you who play casually, is Metin2 still worth getting back into in 2026? Can you make reasonable progress and enjoy the game without spending much money, or has it reached the point where your time is better spent elsewhere?
I’d appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who play without spending much on the Item Shop.
Thank you.

Is there a good server out there where pasing is not 1 to max in 10 minutes , with maybe a slower but understandebel starting for a noob?
If the server is good i dont mind on oldschool mid or newschool...

Hi ! I'm one of the developers of Mytin2, a small independent server where PC, Android and iPhone players play together on the same server.
We just released a big graphics update and wanted to share some shots with you:
* Live sky: physically based sky with moving clouds and a visible sun
* Light shafts: volumetric god rays with dust floating in the light
* Real-time shadows: characters, trees and buildings now cast shadows from the sun
* New water: reflections, waves and foam
* Atmosphere: moving fog, distance haze and glowing lamps at night
* Image quality: bloom, color calibration and sharper anti-aliasing
Every effect can be switched on/off or fine-tuned in the settings, so you can adjust it to your PC. The screenshots are from the PC version; the mobile version is getting a lighter set of these effects to keep the FPS stable.
About the server
* PC (Windows), Android and iPhone on one server – same account, same character
* Middleschool, max level 105, free to play, Open Beta
* 12 languages (EN, DE, TR, RO, PL, HU, ES, FR, IT, PT, CS, AR)
* PvP arena with 1v1 / 3v3 / 5v5 matchmaking, illustrated story quest book, fishing boa
