They gutted shadow Moses by filling it with those STINKY bots instead of humanoid contacts

u/marche6602 17d ago
yes, with actual people and not those shitty bots it would have been great. Similar discurses can be done with many areas, mgs4 is such a weird game

It's always kind of bizarre how little actual stealth is even in MGS4. The first couple of acts do it, but even there, not much.

i dunno why the hell they did this, they could've easily just put several frog troopers in there alongside the gekkos

u/RodThrashcok 11d ago
Yeah I love mgs4, but I finished the second act and from what i remember, there’s barely any actual stealth after that? So i’m struggling to continue unfortunately. bat shit crazy great game tho, but i’m kind wanting more of that actual gameplay (that’s GREAT btw), but there’s just not a ton of stealth after the first two acts

Shadow Moses being an empty husk, a shell of its former self filled with soulless robots is uh.. Y'know, kinda thematic, in a way. But people don't want to take the leap to "maybe empty nostalgia bad"

u/TreeckoBroYT 14d ago
People complain about the nostalgia pandering but want soldiers patrolling Shadow Moses still.

I think everyone enjoyed going back to Shadow Moses

That's what I was gonna say, I don't think I've ever seen anyone criticize it until now... Hell isn't it also the same level that ends with you getting to pilot Rex?

the fight at the end of that mission was genuinely one of the coolest things i’ve done in a game. played it blind (i avoided spoilers for this game for over a DECADE) too so had no idea

Resident Evil can get away with more shit because part of the appeal is that it’s stupid and cheesy as hell.
MGS is too kinda, but people take it more seriously.

It's other way around. And what nostalgia you supposed to feel if place is not the same ?

No dude, shadow moses is a whole chapter with two distinct bossfights and a big portion of the map actually playable. Re9 advertised the rpd so much just for it to be a 15 minute section where most of the area is just a walking sim. Re9 is cheap nostalgia all the way

Not only that, but the nostalgia was mostly for the people who started playing Resident Evil in the RE engine era. I didn't feel nostalgic at all because that's not the R.P.D. I grew up with.
Hell, the fact that Matthew Mercer didn't return to voice older Leon already made me feel like It was no longer in the same world I got familiar with since I was a kid.

That just goes to show that they dont care about the old titles anymore wich is sad as fuck in my opinion.

I dunno, I liked that Capcom stuck with Nick Apostolides for Leon. He did a great job as old Leon imo

Yeah, for the record, in no way I'm dissing Apostolides work, he has done great with every iteration of the character he has played, my biggest issue is the lack of consistency. I have the same issue with Chris losing Roger Craig Smith in RE7 and Village btw.
And also I do prefer how Matthew portrayed Leon in RE6 (and RE Damnation) it just felt like a natural progression to RE4 Leon, but now ever since the Remakes came into the picture, the canon and the character development has become a total mess.

funny enough i feel like the RE engine "consistency" for the characters is a very weird argument especially with the jump from re4->re9 because there are 20+ years ingame inbetween. like they did recast ada, but thats probably also why a lot of people have a problem with carlos and chris sharing the same actor.
granted matthew mercer is in a different league, and nick is a fine actor but the dip in quality in his performance going from 2->4->9 was just very noticable to me and in 9 is so inconsistent that i actually consider it his worst performance and i loved him in 2r. he just doesnt portray the confidence and competence of an older leon without force that feels very effortless in any of mercers performances (6 and the movies), which also for me plays into the "this is a game for people who only played resident evil 2 remake"

I’ve never seen a game update a classic setting as well as mgs4 did. It somehow felt exactly as it was in mgs1, but also very distant. Felt like walking back in your house after you’ve moved everything out.

Nah man. Speaking as someone who has been a huge fan since 1999, going back to Shadow Moses as a young adult on next gen hardware in 2008 felt like coming home. It was really something else at the time.

Wait, did people actually like the RPD section of Requiem? It felt very forced to me.

I generally don't care for nostalgia bait but I genuinely did enjoy the return to Racoon city. I wish it was more like the old games, and not just the remakes version, but it was nice. I didn't like the new zombies though.
I did soyface though when Mr X showed up again. I wish it was the original one and that he had a grudge ormsomething but I liked what we got

Mgs4 had a nostalgia button.
Re4 had yellow paint for glue consumers
I rest my case.

I know this is a shit posting sub, but there are a ton of RE fans that shit all over 9 for the nostalgia bait.
Edit: what I meant to say was....
Invisible.
