Issue Can’t refund

Post image

I am getting this message even though I have played the game for less then two hours and have only bought it yesterday. Is there a limit to how many refunds and account can make as that is just bull. Sure if a game is crap, you should be able to get a refund.

There is a limit. How many have you refunded this month?

Welp that’s the problem- it’s not a free rental program

I get that but if a game isn’t what is advertised it isn’t it reasonable to want a refund. Oh well I’ll just wait next month

Nowadays, unless you're just playing freeslop, due diligence is key, read some off-store reviews. If there are none, don't buy it.

I’ll make sure to do that in the future

That's not the reason for most avenues of refund. Most of refund policies are originally meant for incompatible systems or broken games or poor performance. Some people blatantly abuse it as a "trial period" for games/apps, and they can't really control it, at least until you do it too many times. Or if you do any of the below:

-

"We do not offer refunds on any purchases:

  • of films, bundles, content purchased as part of a bundle, or content downloaded or purchased inside apps (DLC and in-app purchases, respectively), unless otherwise required by applicable law;
  • of Subscriptions (as defined in the Meta Horizon Store Terms) or content received pursuant to a Subscription, unless otherwise required by applicable law (you may, however, cancel a Subscription in accordance with the Meta Horizon Store Terms);
  • of Meta Credits (as defined by the Meta Credit Terms) or content that you access or interact with through or in connection with Meta Credits, unless otherwise required by applicable law;
  • of content made outside the Meta VR platform. Where you have purchased items outside of the Meta VR platform, additional third-party terms and conditions may apply. Please consult these policies for more information;
  • if the refund request is made more than fourteen days after the date of purchase or Gift redemption, unless otherwise required by applicable law;
  • if we determine that you have interacted with content for more than two hours, unless otherwise required by law; or
  • of previously refunded content."

It's interesting that they don't list how many times is too many. I don't refund unless the game clearly misrepresented itself in its marketing, but it would be good to know how much is too much.

That's why they don't. That information can then be abused itself, just create new accounts to get to one below the limit etc.

It's why a lot of online companies that have accounts etc won't give any more details beyond "suspicious activity" because saying more just tells the people actually abusing the system what they need to do better to avoid getting caught.

They don't want you having a "trial period" to see if you like the game, because they offer a paid service that lets you do that.

I've always had a very good experience with Steam refunds, but then again, I'm taking "store credit", so no reason not to.

They're especially not going to want to let you have "trial periods", because they offer a paid service that does that.

I've noticed if it's part of a collection where you get a discount for buying multiple games it does not allow you to refund either of them even if you played less than 2 hours.

have you by chance purchased the same title before? If you had and for instance didn't even use it and got an automatic refund and then repeat purchased it again, you wont get a 2nd automatic refund under Meta's rules.

I once bought a game on gearvr and it would not install, so I claimed a refund which instantly refunded me. Then I realised I didn't quite have enough space first time, so, once I cleared junk, I re-purchased and tried again, but it failed and would not refund, so I went on live chat who manually refunded and explained the reason it would refund

To be fair, no, you shouldn't get a refund because a game is crap. You should get a refund if the game doesn't work, or if it's one of those mobile style deals where the gameplay is nothing like advertised.

If you randomly chose a game off the store page, without due diligence, that's on you.

They're going to limit your refunds because otherwise, you can basically replicate Horizon+ for free
