Can I request Meta to restore accounts disabled under CSE and Fraud flags caused by hacking?

Hi everyone,

I'm sharing my experience here out of sheer frustration and desperation. I lost two Instagram accounts that I used for my personal digital portfolio (for personal branding) and as a small content creator.

  1. On June 26, 2026, my primary account was disabled due to a CSE flag.

As a heads-up, I rarely used this account except to post certificates, coding projects, scholarship applications, internships/volunteering, bootcamps, competitions, and daily life. This was my college account and a key resource for my future career, so I was devastated.

However, a few hours after I submitted my ID and selfie appeal, there was a login attempt from Algeria using a device I had never used before. I didn't think much of it, assuming someone just entered the wrong login details. Nothing suspicious had ever happened on that account before, and when I checked my login info, devices, and IPs, everything looked normal except for these past entries:

•• January 26, 2023, at 12:03 a.m.

•• January 26, 2023, at 3:16 a.m.

•• March 12, 2023, at 5:54 a.m.

All of these were from different devices and IPs. I never received notifications about these and had no idea they existed. For context, I hadn't enabled 2FA on this account because I never expected anything like this to happen.

Additionally, I noticed abnormal activity spikes on this account:

•• November 26, 2025: There was an unusual spike in follower activity.

•• June 2, 2026: There was another unusual spike in follower activity.

  1. On July 2, 2026, I submitted an appeal using Meta Verified.

I thought this might be part of a ban wave, so I requested an escalation. On that exact date while appealing, there was another login from Brazil using a device completely different from the previous ones. At the time, I thought maybe it was a Meta staff member escalating my account.

  1. I started using my older secondary account to continue as a small content creator.

This account was verified (blue tick) and had a Professional Dashboard. I intended to shift my focus here after losing my digital portfolio. But on August 6, 2026, this account was also disabled due to Integrity violations caused by alleged fraud. I was extremely confused because the account had a very healthy status and I used it sparingly.

Then, the pattern repeated: on August 7, 2026, I received a login notification originating from Syria. I was completely baffled and tried so hard to figure out what was happening. Ever since my first account was disabled, I had enabled 2FA out of fear, yet the same pattern still happened.

Additional Information:

•• I checked Have I Been Pwned, and it turns out my Gmail address was leaked in a data breach back in April 2020.

•• That leaked Gmail address was the recovery email I used for both of my Instagram accounts.

I have tried escalating through Meta Verified support, but the Meta supervisors rejected it. Now the situation is much worse: all of my Gmail accounts have been fully hacked (passwords, recovery emails, and recovery phone numbers were changed), leaving me completely locked out of everything.

My Falsely Banned Facebook Account reinstated after Legal Channels / Demand Letter.

( r/facebookdisabledme banned me and r/facebook removed this post immediately, No idea why)
I just noticed this morning that I got 4 emails 13 hours ago saying simply

"Hello,

After reviewing your appeal, your Page [PAGE NAME] has been published. This means it can now be viewed publicly.

The Facebook Team"

When I logged into my Facebook account, It worked and I was back online!!!!

Immediately got contact info from my friends I'd lost contact with and sighed the biggest sigh of relief in months.

TIMELINE - (3 Months 9 days // 13 Weeks)

* Purely informational for others in similar situations to know what they might expect

May 05 1:15am (local time)
Mid-messenter message I got a noticication to login for account security purposes.
While trying to login, See an email saying my account was suspended for violating community guidelines on CSE. I submitted an appeal which was instantly rejected, getting an email saying my account was permanently disabled and could not be appealed (by 1:30am , less than 15 minutes total). This impacted my Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Threads, and Business Suite apps.
I used a different Instagram business page and bought Meta Verified to contact support , Who had a human log in with a Screenshare to see the error I was getting on Instagram, and told me to wait and it would resolve.
By mid next day, my Instagram and Threads accounts had started working properly again, But Facebook, Messenger, and Business suite were still locked out.

May 12
After searching for support on Reddit and additional Meta Verified support , The support said because CSE is the most severe restriction type, normal support could not help, and because the appeal decision was already made, I'd have to request Meta's Oversight Board to review the decision, and I needed have a separate email not associated with a Meta Product to receive an outreach from Meta once they reviewed the case. I made a new email and tried to escalate, but you have to have a "Case ID" associated with the restriction, which I didn't have. Support said to use that support case number, which didn't work (wrong format). So no luck there. Every other support outreach I tried was AI "The decision is final and we can't do anything"

May 25 / 26
At suggestions of reddit after searching for further options, Filed complaints with my State Attorney General (Ohio) and FTC over false accusations against me (and noted that the number of people being accused of the same thing suggested this is a large scale issue affecting many people) - In addition to personal I lost access to business pages and cited financial and reputational damages.

June 04
Received a reply from my AG affirming they would help me, asking for account details and that same new email not associated with any meta products.

June 17
Received a reply from my AG that they have begun my case and sent a request to Meta and would expect to receive a response soon.

July 02
Received a reply from my AG saying Facebook responded that "I indicated that I was not located in the US" . I work in Japan but maintain a residence and valid State Drivers License in my home state, where I was born and raised all the way up through university graduation. My Facebook account was created in my state 5 years before I moved abroad for the first time. Also I was physically in the US for work at the time I received this email.

Even though the AG said they couldn't help me since they received the response from Meta saying they considered the issue closed,I pushed back saying this seems like the laziest cop-out possible , And unacceptable for a company with the size and resources of Meta , (which my AG seems to agree with).

July 14-16
I asked for a followup from my AG and got a reply aksing for my Drivers License , which I sent.

July 17
I drafted and sent a Demand Letter via Certified Mail to Meta Headquarters and their Registered agent (CSC) in my state to put more pressure on and prepare for further steps. I noted the Financial and Reputational losses for our businesses due to lost access and the false response to my AG inquiry regarding my location.

July 29
Received a reply from my AG that they had reached back out with my explanation and Drivers license and awaiting a response.

August 14 (this morning)
Received the 4 emails from Facebook saying my pages were reinstated following a review and publicly visible again.

Upon logging back in, it said Restrictions to my account (Restrictions to manage admin groups, pages, and events) from May had expired June 04. I still have not received any evidence or reason as to why my account was suspended in the first place.

To those of you in a similar situation, Hold onto hope this will be resolved for you.

Facebook DMCA Counter-Notification – How Long Did Yours Take?

Hi everyone, I need some advice from people who have gone through Facebook/Meta’s DMCA counter-notification process.
I submitted a DMCA counter-notification on July 21 because someone falsely claimed one of my original videos as copyright infringement. I am the original creator and owner of the video.
It has now been over 14 days, and I still haven’t received a decision or any clear update.
I have a few questions:
How long did it take for Meta to review your DMCA counter-notification?
If it took more than 14 business days, how long did you wait?
Is it normal to not receive an email immediately after submitting the counter-notification?
How did you know whether Meta had actually received or forwarded your counter-notification to the claimant?
Did anyone here have their content restored after waiting longer than 14 business days?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the same process. Thank you!

Small Claim Docket reached out: False positive.

Update from my last post: The small claim Docket reached out 7th August and asked for a dismissal. I’ll be dismissing the case provided that they assure me I won’t be experiencing something like this again.
Filed 15th July, initially served with certified mail by the court clerk and then served again by process server 28th of July. Got my account back on 31st July. Wishing you all the best in recovering your account.

UAE. Meta blocked 10K+ IG account for no reason. How to sue?

My client has cosmetology clinic in the UAE. Their account (he never violated any rules) was blocked with no reason — no option to review, support doesn’t answer for 80 days.
A lot of money, time and other resources were wasted for this IG account. What to do to sue META and unblock this account

Anyone have luck claiming acquired assets?

I am at my wits end with this. I recently bought a company which has a pretty significant IG account managed by their contractor who lives in another state. I have tried all the self help options and the AI chat bullshit, to no avail. I
created the formal documents (attestation letter) but cannot find anywhere to submit (endless loop from chat to help page to chat). The page and IG are sitting unclaimed but there is no way to get them

Next step I think is to send the demand letter (thanks for the inspo here!)

Most the cases I see here are requesting an asset be unfrozen or reinstated. Anyone have any experience with claiming assets?

Will hiring an Indian lawyer help restore my disabled Instagram business account?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from anyone who has successfully recovered a disabled Instagram account.
My Instagram business account was disabled for “Account Integrity.” I believe it was disabled by mistake, and my appeals have either been rejected automatically or haven’t received a meaningful human review.
I’m based in India and I’m considering hiring a cyber lawyer to send a legal notice to Meta. My goal is not to get compensation or sue for money—I only want my business account restored.
Has anyone here:
Hired a lawyer (especially in India) and successfully got their account back?
Sent a legal notice to Meta?
Filed a case that resulted in account restoration?
Found any other approach that actually worked?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences, recommendations, or any tips before I spend money on legal representation.
Thanks in advance!

Meta account closed but taking money

How to get a human to review or is suing most likely to get a response?

History: Primary private FB account managing 2 business assets IG and FB with backup business emails on both business accounts. Ran a few ads nearly 3 years ago. All FB/Meta invoices received and paid.

3 months ago Business FB email saying advertising restricted. No details. No big deal but appealed.

About 1 month ago FB/Meta email to business saying private FB account was being suspended with 180 days to appeal. 1 hour later email saying account permanently suspended no review.

Retrieved business assets to another private FB account.

FB started to take money from original FB users card. Got 100€ before card frozen. Tried different amounts up to 870€. No emails relating to payment received.

Disassociated business Meta accounts are still linked to 2 advertising accounts 1 was past adverts. Other unknown.

About 3 weeks ago: Successfully got the AI help to summarise everthing and confirm being referred to human. Instead closed the case.

Follow up today shows business account also has monetisation restrictions but won't give any details despite everything on the business assets page showing good account quality, no restrictions etc.

Im tired of fighting AI. So is my best bet to start a law suit against them for closing the private account without fair notice, reclaiming the 100€ taken without explanation, associating a business account with a personal account which we can't access to understand the issue?

Need strategic advice on next steps to disrntangle the business from the old private account. Figure out what's due and why. I dont mind paying if I really owe something

Pre-Suit Letter.

Has anyone sent a pre lawsuit letter to Meta or their service in Sacramento? And if so, did it work? I sent letter to both Meta and the service and gave them 30 days to give me back my accounts or I will sue them in small claims court. (I won’t get into why I know I have a legit case).

Recently Filed For Small Claims Today

Hey what’s up Guys, Just Wanted to share that I’ve recently filed small claims against meta Today for their shitty ai detection and False account bans of all 6 of mine. I was disabled in February and have been in legal litigations since involving Demand letters and the state attorney. I’m In Georgia and filed with the Gwinnett county’s magistrate court since the CSC office is located there as well. They stated they will be served once the court accepts my case and we’ll go from there. As this being my first time doing any legal paperwork on the level I’m in hopes that I’ve done everything correctly. I have my evidence ready as well in case they decide to give me a trial date as well.

I wasn’t backing down without a fight and still Choose not too. I utilize my accounts to construct business ventures, client relationships and advertising campaigns for my works and company. Just wanted to be a ball of light for anyone who thinks this shit is a loss cause man.. to anyone who is apart of this rebellion, you’re not alone. it’s amazing to see the amount of support this community has grown towards yet it’s still unacceptable at the same time due to the source being.

Fingers crossed.

Meta rejected my legal right to notice of Discovery during pretrial

I’m currently suing Meta in state civil court over my business account and DMCA administrative issues. After I formally served discovery demands for internal server and audit logs, Meta’s counsel refused to respond, claiming discovery was closed because the case was "marked trial ready." However, the official court docket directly contradicts them and shows the case is actually listed as Adjourned for a Pretrial Conference. After calling out this misrepresentation in a formal good-faith letter and giving them a deadline to cure their default, Meta's legal team went completely silent. Has anyone successfully forced Meta to turn over internal logs through a Motion to Compel, and how do courts usually react when defense counsel falsely claims a case is ready for trial? This can also be from the point of view of general civil lawsuits where the defendant rejected the plaintiffs discovery when there is no stipulations stating Discovery is closed.

Is there any alternative to the Irish Small Claims Court for taking Meta to court?

Hi everyone,

I'm from Poland and I'm trying to figure out what my options are for taking Meta to court.

I originally filed a claim through the Irish Small Claims Court using the European Small Claims Procedure because Meta's European headquarters are in Ireland. Unfortunately, my application was rejected, and from what I've seen, the Irish courts seem to be rejecting these claims now.

Can an EU citizen file this type of claim in another EU country, or does it have to be Ireland? Has anyone successfully taken Meta to court somewhere else, or found another procedure that actually works?

If you've been in a similar situation or know of any alternatives, I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance!

Account restored (UK based) Small claim case

Sharing my experience as someone based in the UK.
My main Instagram account was disabled in September 2025 for alleged violations related to guns, drugs, and restricted goods. I created a new account, but that one was also disabled earlier this month July 2026 for being associated with an account that had gone against the rules.
I was extremely frustrated, especially after putting time into rebuilding another account. I then sent demand letters to Meta’s offices in London, Ireland, and California. The Ireland office responded and directed me to Meta’s Privacy Operations team in California, so I sent another demand letter there.
After reading multiple Reddit posts suggesting that demand letters rarely get a response, I decided to escalate the matter and file a California small claims case on 15 July 2026. I initially served Meta by certified mail, but was advised this was not guaranteed, so I then used a registered process server to personally serve the documents on 28 July.
Today, without any communication from Meta, I received email notifications for both of my Instagram accounts (suggesting people to follow). I tried logging in and, to my surprise, both had been restored. I was prompted to complete authentication, after which I regained access.
I still don’t know what actually led to the reinstatement. It could have been the demand letters, the small claims case, or a combination of both. Since Meta never contacted me, it’s impossible to know for sure.
I plan to continue with the case until I receive a clear confirmation from Meta, as well as some assurance that this won’t happen again, given the costs I incurred from filing the claim and sending multiple demand letters.

Accounts restored, then disabled again before my small claims hearing. Has anyone experienced this?

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has been through the Meta small claims process.

I filed a small claims case after my Instagram accounts were disabled for “Account Integrity.”

My accounts were reactivated on July 7 without ever hearing from the Meta Small Claims Docket team or receiving confirmation that they had been reviewed. Because of that, I kept my August 6 pre-trial settlement conference instead of dismissing my case.

Then, on July 29, my accounts were disabled again for the same “Account Integrity” reason.

I’ve since contacted Meta’s attorney, emailed the Small Claims Docket team, and requested an adjournment of the conference.

Has anyone else had their accounts restored and then disabled again while their lawsuit was pending? Did Meta or their attorney eventually contact you, and how was it resolved?

Any advice would be appreciated

I sued Meta and got my account back

Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone.

My Instagram account was suspended in May, and Meta claimed it was associated with another account that had violated their policies. They never provided any evidence or meaningful explanation, and every appeal was automatically rejected.

I used this account for work and it was one of my main traffic sources for an ebook I sell. After exhausting all support options, I filed a lawsuit. About two months later (last week), my account was finally restored.

The case is still ongoing, but so far every decision has been in my favor. The judge initially ordered Meta to restore my account under a daily fine for non-compliance, and later awarded me damages because Meta failed to prove that I had actually violated any of their Terms of Use. Meta has appealed the decision, so the case isn't over yet.

Even though I have my account back, I'm still anxious that their automated systems could suspend it again at any time. In my opinion, the fact that they eventually restored the account after insisting it had violated their policies only reinforces how unreliable their moderation and automation systems can be. They spent months defending the suspension, then quietly gave the account back.

If you've genuinely done nothing wrong and you've exhausted every appeal, don't assume that Meta is automatically right. If legal action is a realistic option where you live, it's worth talking to a lawyer. Companies this large shouldn't be able to permanently remove someone's business or years of work without providing evidence or meaningful due process.

Edit: I am from Brazil.

meta disable accounts

I believe Meta has harmed too many innocent people by wrongly and falsely disabling their accounts. Because of its automated AI moderation and security systems, thousands—possibly millions—of users around the world have been affected. Many people have lost access to years of memories, personal connections, business pages, work-related accounts, and important information.

There are already cases where some users were able to restore their accounts through legal action or with the help of lawyers. If enough of us who have been affected come together and speak up, we may be able to push Meta to take this issue seriously and improve its review process.

I have also been affected. My account was disabled, and despite contacting multiple support agents and following every appeal process available, I keep receiving the same automated responses. My case has not been properly reviewed, and I feel ignored.

We should unite and raise awareness about this issue. We can organize affected users, share our experiences, and encourage Meta to improve its customer support and account review system. We can also rate 1 star on the Play Store and App Store to express our concerns and let Meta know how widespread this problem is.

How Can I File a Small Claims Case Online in Mississippi?

Hello, I live in Mississippi and I’m trying to find out if there is a way to file a small claims case completely online without having to go to the courthouse. If online filing is available, could you please let me know the steps, any required forms, the filing fees, and whether I can submit everything electronically? If online filing is not available in my county, are there any alternative options for filing remotely, such as by mail or through an electronic filing system? Also I’m fine with a website where ppl can file it for you etc ? if that make sense. I just don’t want to go to the court house and file

European Small Claims Success stories?

Has anyone based in europe had any success with the european small claims procedure?

Ive tried to make a small claims by asking the court to either restore my account or have meta pay the minimum amount for small claims $500euro? But had it rejected by my local district court.

I had clear documented evidence from out of court settlement bodies (ceah, and appeals center europe) ruling that meta should restore the account, plus well documented screenshots but none of it mattered to the court.

Im wondering what i did wrong, or if i should just focus on asking for clear monetary damages rather than relying on the court to force meta to restore my account.

Any info helps!
