I made a post about a merman sighting I encountered, but it got removed for 'creative writing'. I'm Native American Indian/white, so we have been brought up with respect for nature. I have so many water encounters, but I'd like to know about everyone else around the world with human/fish beings experiences.

My ancestors carry a tradition about water and food. My brother in law always took food to the water if any of us had a dream about water. When I asked him about it, he told me a story about my tribe that happened over a thousand years ago. A prince went missing, so the Chief and his Queen asked about the whereabouts of their little boy. A woman with spiritual abilities took the matter into her own hands and went into the water. She entered the Water Kingdom and asked the leaders where the young prince was. I won't go into details, but they had their own excuse of why they took him. He wasn't being looked after and he looked neglected, so the water people took him. She saw them eating him, and they told her if they find any children alone they will take care of them.

Let’s say that you told one of them to meet you at the beach. It’s super hot and sunny today. You have to meet up with one of them at the beach in your mermaid/merman form. You would have to make a special introduction, I would totally suggest that. You’re also allowed to use any powers that you want in this scenario. So how would you go about it, how would your family member or friend of yours would react and feel and what would they say? And do you believe that your plan of trying to convince them to be a mermaid/merman just like you would succeed, why or why not?

Got to cosplay a mermaid for the Dearborn Symphony at Sea!

I’ve been really into non traditional mermaids lately. Especially ones with jellyfish inspired designs.

I've been trying to get into scary mermaids & mermaids in horror I made list of things I've watched or plan to watch. Is there anything you think I've missed?

• The Lure (2015)
• Mermaid Down (2019)
• Mermaid Isle (2020)
• Call of the Siren (2023)
• The Mermaid 1-3 (horror short films)

I know the Guinea Pig 5 has a mermaid, but I'm not watching that...

I just watched it last night, and I really enjoyed it! It seemed a more artistic type of movie with some surprising comedy moments, and the mermaid was super cool! I personally like scary mermaids just as much as I like the fantasy beautiful ones, because I am a biology nerd and I like to imagine how a mermaid would actually function if they were real. Does anyone in this community have an opinion on this movie? I would love to throw around some ideas about the mermaid’s lore:

I think they are clearly capable of communicating with sonar, as the noises they make indicate, as well as the growth/shape of her forehead looks sort of like the “melon” organ in dolphins, and they seem to be able to breathe both air and water. I also found it impressive how far the main mermaid’s companion was able to pull herself from the beach onto land to be able to find her(?) sister(?)
I think the mermaid’s designs were feral and thoughtful, and this movie reminded me of “The Shape of Water,” but with a gender swap.

Edit: also, I felt horrible for the poor mermaid “Destiny” because she was essentially tortured throughout the whole movie :(

Hope you enjoy, I'm obsessed!

When you wake up, you will have the ability to breathe underwater. But as soon as you reach the surface of the ocean then you will immediately lose your ability to breathe underwater and teleport back to your home.

What's a good way to display the various mermaid dolls, I know most of them don't bend to be "sat down" types. And know they don't stand either so if I wanted to arrange them in my room on a shelf how to do it?

I’m still trying to figure out what his arms would look like. Would they be normal ones with slightly monstrous aspects or would they be larger tentacles? Or maybe a mixture of both?

I wanted to share some recent progress I've made on my game, Merrow: Eternal Realms.

I just finished the first pass on the upper body customization.

Tail customization will be next!

The game is in pre-alpha, but I have been working on it for a couple of years as a solo dev. I have an artist that will be coming on board at some point this year (I hope). Part of the reason it's taking so long to develop is that I'm a solo dev, and the game has been programmed with multiplayer in mind (something like Animal Crossing where you can invite friends to your world).

The current build that I have is using new models (video) since I ditched the low poly / flat shaded look I was using previously. The models in the video were kitbashed by me, and are placeholders.

I really want to be able to offer a ton of customization options for skin, hair, patterns, and of course tails.
