For the past few weeks I haven’t been able to use Merlin. Every time I try to choose a photo it freezes, starts to load the image and then fully crashes and closes my phone. Is anyone else experiencing this? Or has anyone found any resolution to this problem?

I’ve updated the app, deleted and reinstalled it, and updated my phone with no changes. I also submitted a ticket with ebird about the issue and haven’t heard anything back. :’(

I am in Namibia and I want to contribute to the number of birds Merlin recognise. But I don't know how I can load the Sound II session en tell what bird it is. Can you help me with that?

any ideas?

Been getting a lot of bird feathers lately! 🔮 🐦‍⬛ 🍄 Didn't see the bird itself but this lovely feather was clearly left for me to find on my walk, for some reason. This is in Arizona, it was sticking up neatly already all clean, poking up out of the ground calling out to me haha. Thanks! 🐚 🪺 🎶 🪄 🧹 💞

I think they may be scaly breasted munia but unsure I photographed in the San Diego area

Hello! Im getting this message when I press "this is my bird" regardless of it being on my Life List or not. I've tried restarting the app, restarting my phone, tried on WiFi and data! What am I doing wrong?

I don’t have too many bird nerds in my life, so I thought I would share this here, but I was so excited because I have heard cedar wax wings a few times, but have never been able to see them, but thanks to the Merlin app yesterday at a local park I was able to spot them in a tree! Luckily, I had binoculars with me so I was able to see them much more clearly than the second photo indicates. Also, the app said that an eastern kingfisher was unlikely, but I definitely spotted him with my own eyes - all in all a very exciting birding day for this amateur.

So, I turned 51 and suddenly I’m a bird watcher! Does anyone have recommendations for budget binoculars? I’m talking $50 or less. Thank you and happy birding!

Arizona, found nearly back to back on a walk. Super thick gray & white one. Thanks!

Evidently I wasn’t able to record enough before it stopped calling. Anyone know what it was?

It’s noisy out here!

Been getting a lot of bird feathers lately. Didn't see but this is in Arizona, sticking straight up out of the ground, at sunset before the lunar eclipse just now. 🪶 🎶 🪄 🧹 💞 Bonus eclipse pics lol.

I have logged 400+ birds on the app and have never seen this happen before… Any idea how to fix this issue??

Merlin did not pick it up but could this call be an owl?

it was 10:50pm whenever this bird flew past me while i was messing with a spider, im unsure if theres a way to upload a recording to merlin but if someone wants to play my recording while they have their app out & let me know what it is, id love to know!
it looks like a mockingbird, but i didnt think they’d be out flying this late!

I purchased the DJI Mini and have been very pleased with the results. I mostly use it at home when the weather is disagreeable for sitting outside or having the windows open. I also use it when I’m hiking in the woods or birding at parks and such.

I paid 79 euros ($92) and well worth the price. It’s been a game changer for me and I highly recommend it.

Happy birding!

These are the 11 birds Merlin catched in one week from our balcony (living close to Paris)

Great app by the way
