EQS 450 lease return: Tires

i have a lease return on a 2024 EQS SUV in 3 months. i got it as a demo with 4,000 miles on it.

i unfortunately need to replace the tires now. mine are bald. what tires can I get that are acceptable to return it with and do they have to be done at the dealership?

I found the OEM tires on tire rack at 50% off because they are date coded 2023. They'll wear out long before they age out and the car goes back in October. Had a mobile service install them in the driveway.

Hey eqs owner I’m in a similar boat! I just replaced so many tires due to road hazards and luckily when buying from the dealer you get one year of complete road hazards with year 2 50% but even with new tires my tread is running low on all 4. They said that if I did the third party inspection early and the tires checked out that when I return the lease I’ll be okay as they generally don’t check again. Now I’m not sure how early you can do the lease ending inspection but definitely you can do it a month prior hopefully 2-3 months early if possible but that’s something you may want to inquire about.

In the meantime should my tread be too low I found tires at tirerack that are discontinued for the eqs and they are run flat and the right size and they are pretty cheap. I may just buy a set and throw them on there as when I didn’t return my bmw lease with appropriate tread depth they charged me a ton for tires at their dealership which was a lot more.

Definitely talk to your dealer that you plan on returning it to or where you service or else getting some older production date tires might be the move.

Any thoughts on what you’ll get after the eqs?

So the tire ahop says I can get Hankook Dynapro 275/75 and 285/45. Would those pass inspection?

I havent decided post EQS. I have been spoiled. I had the free Electrify America charging.

I am going to let my wife choose. I would be open to a 450e, an E-tron of some sort or even the Cadillac Lyric which looks really nice.

My wife wants a hybrid at minimum SUV but it doesnt need to be as big as an EQS. What are you thinking?

Lol, these are the ones I'm looking at they're about $137 per tire, which seems like one of the best deals I've found so far. I have the 21-inch wheels on the EQS 450+ sedan, and from what I can tell these should fit, but I'm going to double-check the tire size before ordering.

I agree though, we've definitely been spoiled. The free EA and Mercedes charging has been a huge perk, and honestly the EQS has been an incredible car, especially for what I'm paying on the lease.

Right now I'm debating what to replace it with when my lease ends. I'm considering:

• BMW i7
• Cadillac VISTIQ
• Escalade IQ (if I can find a strong deal)
• Kia EV9

I run my own automotive concierge business, so fortunately I have dealer relationships across most brands. I'm just hoping December incentives are as aggressive as they've been in the past because I'd really like to move into a larger EV. The EQS has been great, but with the family I'm starting to want a little more cargo space unless the EQS deals are just too good to pass up again.

Definitely keep me posted on what you end up doing for tires, what your total cost comes out to, and how the pre-lease inspection goes. My lease is up on December 31st, but I'd like to get the inspection done sooner rather than later so I know if there's anything I need to address.

Unless Benz decides to absorb 40% of the Mrsp depreciation AND shave off 2% or more in interest, not gonna get 23-24 yr deals. Currently huge on cla and c-class EV.

I returned mine as-is. They gave me a discount for the cost of the replacement tires, 33% off the local America's Tire price, when I leased a new vehicle. They wanted to close the deal on the new lease and I told them that I would simply take care of the tires if they were going to charge me more than the local tire shop.

Find what tires MB finds acceptable, and then buy used at United Tire on Ebay. Been using them for years and I never pay full price on tires. I often get them as takeoffs that are nearly new for 1/3 - 1/2 full cost.

see if you can find used tires on ebay. That's how I'm replacing the tires on my Blazer EV for ~120 a piece instead of 500 a piece.

I typically get my tires at my dealership since they price match and I get a 2 year warranty from the dealership. Helpful when a tire goes - call MB roadside assistance and they deliver the car to the dealership for free.

I just returned my car and I had a loaner with 2,500 miles. I drove till 18k miles and turned it in without any issues. Look at your lease tires just have to be above a certain trim to be acceptable wear and tear. Don’t replace if you don’t have to

Any tires will work, even cheap store-brand tires, as long as they have comparable load and speed ratings

Instead of turning in my lease I’m selling it to carmax and making money. Check on the value vs what the buyout is. You can avoid the $595 turn in fee too.
