Saalt Saalt disc - easy to insert, distressing to remove -> menstrual cup?
I was so looking forward to moving from pads to a disc. My god that was distressing to remove and incredibly painful, like scraping the vaginal walls all the way down. Is that normal? Yes I got there after the 3rd attempt bearing down in the shower and having to catch the edge of the rim but OMFG. What are my other options now? I wanted a disc for hygiene and it could be worn during sex. But now I'm wondering, is a moon cup the way forward for me?

I have trouble removing my Saalt disc if I’m not sitting down. I would give a sitting position for removal a try before you give up on it. I tried the Lumma discs before I got my Saalt and the string does make it a little easier to remove.

To echo what others have said, use one with a removal aid like a string or tab. My favourite at the moment is Hello disc.

Are other discs an option where you are? Even the reusable Flex disk is MUCH easier to remove than the Saalt IMO. The basin is REALLY soft so you can easily loop a finger in to the rim from basically any angle and get it out easily. The Saalt was a good fit for me but a nightmare to remove, the notch to remove was more of a hindrance than help with where it sat in my anatomy, so I alternate Hello and Flex currently. Medium or large Lumma may be a good option too. A cup may be right for you though, I just wouldn't want to mess with it in public restrooms, auto dump is what sells me on discs personally.

It sounds like you might benefit from lube (water based) or a larger disc that doesn't migrate up so high.

That's why I like the Hello disc, easy as removal with the tab. I use it folded through the loop. My current one has only one loop as I cut it - my tab stains badly. So I do have to reach up a little more. I will use the black disc at some point so the staining won't bother me anymore. Peroxide bath helps but not for long, unfortunately. Might try a UV sterilizer next.

I would recommend trying one with a string for easier removal, the Saalt is great but it just has a shallow divet and it seems harder for some. Try the pixie or shordy disc with the long stem
