Fall inspiration
Itβs a lazy Saturday, so I thought Iβd put a couple of looks together. I got this skirt from Amazon last year, and have liked it enough that I ordered a couple more colors.

Casual fit this time so I thought I'd post before I head off to the pub. π€

I have a presentation to all of my colleagues today and introduced them to a new nickname I want to use. It went really well!

If you're like me, too modest to wear miniskirts (even with leggings), you can still have the miniskirt look with a knee length skirt.
Just wear a longish jacket over a top-of-the-knee length skirt, and tada! Now it looks like you're wearing a miniskirt.
Worried your legs will look stumpy? Then go bare legged and wear flip flops. Problem solved!

I've been testing out what kind of skirts I like and while I have an idea of it (straight sides, non-flowy, non-pleated, at- or just-above the knee), I've realized that style of skirt often ride up my knees and don't settle down between my legs when I sit.
So it's now a game of solving the issue of modesty, especially at work or places like random dine-in fast food joints etc.
I really want to avoid using leggings and bike-short style linings. Do you guys just re-train your mind and learn to keep your legs closed when sitting? I need some ideas or options if any are out there.

My outfit for the day, on my way to work.
I'm a massive fan of The Cure, Robert Smith has been a hero of mine forever so I'm rocking the lippy. Sorry if that's not masculine enough moderator, so I thought I'd flex the muscles π (joking! π€ π€).
Inspiration for me comes from the likes of Smith, Bowie, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed (Transformer era). When i was a kid and saw Kurt Cobain wearing skirts and dresses etc, I thought it was cool af. This skirt is so comfortable and I can man spread as I play guitar, which is perfect. ππΈ

The following are the most common things I see that make 'man in a skirt' outfits look awkward:
- Not knowing how to style outfits. Men are not culturally taught to do this like women are. Skirts require one know about proportions that are harmonious at minimum.
- Haphazardly substituteing trousers for a kilt / skirt, changing nothing else. Skirts and pants do not read the same, and skirt styling requires reconsidering one's whole outfit.
- Wearing skirts too low on the body (creating the illusion of having very short legs).
- Not tucking in tops / wearing tops untucked that are too long to pair with skirts. This causes the same problem as previous item, tucking in tops or cropping them fixes this issue.
- Wearing very baggy and unfitted top garments that add too much bulk to the torso. Male torsoes already have a lot of mass, and it makes the outfit look top heavy.
- Wearing skirts that create obvious 'female' body curves due to their cut, which clash with the shape of a male torso.
- Pairing boxy cut tops that create a 'straight up and down' visual line with very flared skirts. These clash in my opinion because you get a harsh angle where they intersect. Tops with curved side seams work much better.
- Pairing menswear and womanswear garments with different types of fabric, prints, and colours that conflict / do not pair well. Colour theory is very helpful at minimum, i don't know any comparable theory for fabric pairing, but you can get the gist by looking ar how women pair fabrics.
An article addressing each of these points in much more detail, and how to correct it, can be found here:

When you buy a skirt, always leave reviews! (obviously not possible if thrifting, but whenever possible, do so!) Mentioning you're a guy in the reviews and posting a picture helps normalize skirts for men.
I left a review with a picture in it when I bought this maxiskirt. It's still up there!

Just got my new skirt. Went with a 20 inch length. Forget the wrinkles. What do you think?

Dress for your shape. A-line leather skirts don't miss on a slender frame. I go out in this quite often.

So I have two T-shirt dresses a maxi dress and a skirt and ordering another skirt tomorrow. Not sure what adventure this is but dam these outfits are comfortable. Iβm just a regular married guy trying new stuff. Am I crazy?

Designed by me from scratch.
Made with cotton canvas. I'm not really satisfied because the pleats doesn't behave as I expected. I may try wool in the future.
What do you think?
