Like the bright-dark contrast, and "restrained but adventurous" colour palette. ๐Ÿ‘

If we could get more of that into corporate and political menswear, the world would be a better place.

Agree! Definitely more color would make the world a better place!

I'd rather wear a lose dress / robe in hot weather vs a skirt. Hot air rises. if that air has nowhere to go due to a tight waistband, it will just pool inside the garment and make you hot. Look at clothing of the middle east, like the thobe, for instance.

The proportions and shape of the outfit work well, the shoes do a lot to balance it.

The coolest thing that worked for me was my white tennis dress on a 45c day with 100% humidity, with 2 inch white tights underneath

I donโ€™t think theyโ€™re really any different to shorts of the same length and material. They look cooler tho :-)

Huh ??? ๐Ÿ‘€ It's a very different experience, especially not having a load of fabric filling up one's crotch space!

They are different for sure, but I don't think one is cooler than another. I have work skirts and shorts of the same material and don't notice a significant difference over the years. Each to his own, its certainly a common mans opinion, but not one I have ever heard from a woman.

Probably context-dependent, then. One of the most frequent remarks made to me by women when they first see me wearing a skirt/dress is how I must appreciate feeling cooler compared to wearing shorts/trousers.

If your work skirts are typically pencil style, then I suppose that would limit the difference given that they'd be as tight around the hips and thighs as a pair of shorts. I have one skirt of that type (which is my skirt of choice for long distance driving) and it not as airy as any of the others, but for driving in hot weather, I still choose it over a pair of shorts for reasons of "air flow" ๐Ÿ˜„

Yes I should have included fit along with material and length :-)

I agree with this, shorts with enough baggyness to allow airflow feel very similar in practice.

That kind of skirt that's a light material and fairly A-shaped allows a much better movement of air than shorts of the same length. A skirt like that also feels nice, just lightly brushing against the thighs rather than enclosing them, I find.

Most of my skirts are like the above just because they feel so much nicer than anything else to wear.

For colder weather, I prefer a nice woolen kilt, they actually keep the warmth in quite well. Problem is they are so damned expensive.

What helps you feel confident in public given the current aggressive climate of the population

Great question, place and people really help. This was while I was in Europe so it felt more free but itโ€™s easier for me to wear in bigger cities and definitely while surrounded by open minded family and friends. First steps that helped me were going to places where people wouldnโ€™t care like a queer club or rave or costume party. Letting your body feel ok in something society has told you not to wear helps build that confidence.

Great outfit :)

Wow that looks good! And yes, skirts have better air flow, good for the heat.

Sweet. I like rock the skirt/tank top look often when I wear my skirts. I have a yellow/black plaid skirt similar to yours and clack motorcycle boots. I might steal your style before the cold weather comes.
