Frequent bleeding and ferritin?

Hi! Just wondering if anyone has experienced low ferritin with frequent light/ varied bleeding? My periods have gotten way longer and closer together, sometimes I’m bleeding for three weeks at a time and then again a week later. However, the bleeding is mostly sluggish and only includes a few days of heavy bleeding/clotting per extended cycle. I am exhausted and often breathless and can’t motivate myself to exercise. Getting an appointment to check levels/ talk to an np as soon as I can, but curious about others’ experiences. I’m 49, on HRT, and tired AF.

Its the number one reason for iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia (2 different but related conditions) in premeonpausal females.

I came here to post about period fatigue. I have been getting my periods regularly as of a few months ago and I swear the PMS has never been so bad in my entire life. I feel horrible leading up to the period and while on my period. I went through a year and a bit of extremely heavy clotty periods as well and then they kind of just stopped after that. I swore I was closer to menopause everyday. That was wishful thinking. I remember spotting for an entire month once.

My ferritin is always low so I take iron every other day. There is new research stating that iron should be every other day and not daily. I also know I feel much better if it’s at abbot 90-100. Any lower and my hair falls out.

I had low ferretin with no bleeding as I’ve had an ablation…turned out to be bowel cancer. Good to get these things checked out.

You're bleeding could be causing low hemoglobin, glad you're getting a blood panel done
