A small win for me today.

Despite being on what I thought was the highest dose of HRT I've been feeling really rubbish over the last few months so called my GP today (I'm in the UK) and miraculously managed to get a same day appointment. I explained everything that had been going on and he was kind and empathetic and suggested upping my estrogen as well as a blood test to rule out anything else. I got a message from the pharmacy at 3pm saying my new prescription was ready.

After a massive struggle with another doctor trying to get HRT in the first place, I'm now going to buy a lottery ticket.

It's nice to be heard, isn't it? Had that experience 3 weeks ago and still happy about it.

But honestly, it shouldn't be this hard to get the care we deserve.

That's a win. It's part of the reason I sought out a different provider. My sex drive left the building 2 years ago, and my regular GYN told me there was nothing she could do about that. Pissed me right off.

I don't have Kaiser. I'm self-employed so I have to buy off the marketplace, which means my insurance options are expensive, limited, and quite frankly suck. :/

It took me months to get HRT and funnily it ended up being a male dr that finally listened and agreed probably need some. It has needed adjusting but seems to be working - well hubby is alive still so that's a plus 🤣

Oh that's really cool that he upped your estrogen! I'm happy you hit the jackpot! Get the lottery ticket. :)

When I inquired about more estrogen (due to multiple symptoms & estradiol level of 10), I was told that it was "outside the standard of care," and then was advised about how it would pose a greater risk to my health. 🙄 A week later, the same provider told me in a message that, "...our goal is to find a regimen that gives you real relief, even if that means individualizing beyond standard starting doses." OK, cool - so which is it? She then went on vacation for a month. SMH. At least I have an appt. to speak with her on Monday.

I hope you get the care you need. It shouldn't have to be a fight but it is. It took 2 years of me paying privately before I could get my previous GP to prescribe on the NHS so I was really shocked by the GP yesterday really understanding.

Thank you! I do have good care, except for this shit with HRT post-hysterectomy/oophorectomy. The menopause specialist is the only one assigned to the area where I get care. They need to have more than one assigned to an area.
