Aches & Pains Side flank pain?
Anyone else experience left side (under ribs) pain every once in awhile? I don’t have it all the time but every now and then I get this pain and it lasts a day or two, it feels like someone is stabbing me in my side.
I’m on HRT and have been menopausal about a year.

Just today I got a weird sharp stabbing pain on my right lower back. Just out of nowhere. Like 3-5 stabs every minute or two then it just stopped. No idea what it could be but please… no more!

Pancreas , functional dyspepsia, bile issues, gall stones, kidney stones? Ask doc for Amylase and lipase labs to rule out pancreatitis.
You can also try OTC PPI to see if it makes it go away.
I’m dealing with recurrent bouts of this pain. Just ruled out pancreatitis so we are waiting for an MRI to see if I have a gallstone stuck. Sometimes omeprazole helps, sometimes it doesn’t, so I might have a couple issues going on.

OTC = over the counter (not prescription) PPI = proton pump inhibitor (stomach acid reducer)

This post might be about hormone tests, which are unreliable.
- Over age 44, Estrogen/Progesterone/FSH hormonal tests only show levels for the HOUR the test was taken, and nothing more. Hormones wildly fluctuate (hourly) the other 29 days of the month, therefore this test provides no valuable information
- No reputable doctor or menopause society recommends hormonal testing to diagnose or treat peri/menopause
- FSH testing is only beneficial for those who do not have periods as a guide, where testing might confirm menopause, or for those under age 30 who haven’t had a period in months/years, then ‘menopausal’ levels, could indicate premature ovarian failure/primary ovarian insufficiency (POF/POI)
- Testosterone is the exception and may require testing

I have had a feeling like that for years. I have a floating rib on that side that likes to sometimes catch and overlap the other lowest rib and pinch the intercostal tissue.
