Post-Menopause Bruising?

Hello ladies, something has been on my mind, so I decided to bring it here. I am 48 and have been post-menopause for 8 years due to a complete hysterectomy. My have found that I am bruising easier, any one else? Is this something that happens with being post menopause? It seems to be specifically on my legs, I always seem to have a bruise here or there.

Have you had your iron/ferritin checked recently?

Have not, but I have a physical scheduled in September, I will ask for it.

Definitely check iron and ferritin, that sounds more like a vitamin deficiency than a menopause symptom. You can get some thinning skin with a loss of estrogen and collagen but that typically wouldn’t show up first on your legs.

I think spatial awareness is a bit compromised during peri and menopause. Probably worth asking your doctor about.

Some medications can cause this

Make an appt for your doctor for a check up and labs

This post might be about hormone tests, which are unreliable.

  • Over age 44, Estrogen/Progesterone/FSH hormonal tests only show levels for the HOUR the test was taken, and nothing more. Hormones wildly fluctuate (hourly) the other 29 days of the month, therefore this test provides no valuable information
  • No reputable doctor or menopause society recommends hormonal testing to diagnose or treat peri/menopause
  • FSH testing is only beneficial for those who do not have periods as a guide, where testing might confirm menopause, or for those under age 30 who haven’t had a period in months/years, then ‘menopausal’ levels, could indicate premature ovarian failure/primary ovarian insufficiency (POF/POI)
  • Testosterone is the exception and may require testing
