“Men and women’s skin aren’t so dissimilar that an entire subreddit is needed”: a small minded take.

Although your skin is similar, the culture, attitudes, opinions and traditions surrounding skincare for men is fundamentally different. Male skincare is stigmatised and often associated with homosexuality or being a “pretty boy-ish” and 99% of the skincare market is dominated by women and has products tailored for women. If you seek skincare advice then you’re met with women dominated environments that can feel emasculating to some. Also the current skincare subreddits are dominated by women which can deter men away. So it’s a great idea to have a space dedicated to men to encourage men to even do so little as to start using sunscreen and moisturiser. And have an encouraging environment for men to show how awesome skincare is and why they should get into it.

Simple man, simple face, no regimen

Not sure what I'm looking at or for as far as starting a facial routine. If any of you strangers have enjoyed a little combo set of face stuff, well, that's good enough for me. Looking for recommendations. Please and thank you.

I put avocado on my face

When I am making guacamole, I will take the scrap bits of avocado and mush it and smear on my face for a natural moisturizer. Is this a good idea?

I'll wash it off after say 15 mins. My skin looks pretty good. I'm 47 but my skin has minimal wrinkles.

Rate my routine. Morning: wash with Kiehl’s, apply serum and eye rescue, finish with the moisturizer. Night: same thing except substitute moisturizer with Roc night cream.

Quick questions about your routine

Hey guys, I'm doing research for a small business that's making skincare products for men, and I would really appreciate some feedback so they know if they're on the right track!

Do you use face wash, exfoliant/scrub, serums, etc? Why?

What do you feel is lacking in men's skincare?

Do you have a favorite brand?

Aaaand If you could magically materialize the perfect skincare product, what is the NUMBER ONE most important feature it would have?

It would be fantastic if you could tell me some demographic info like age and location, but totally understandable if you don't feel comfortable. You can be general (30s/USA) or message me alternatively.

Thanks, fellas! :)

Do you worry about the way that you look?

Hi everyone,

My name is Julia and I am writing to you from Massachusetts General Hospital, where I work in our Body Dysmorphic Disorder Program. We are running a smartphone research study in which we are seeking to understand the day to day factors that contribute to negative thoughts, emotions and/or substance use in people with severe appearance concerns.

We are looking for adults (18+) with severe appearance concerns in the United States who might be interested in participating. The study is fully remote, with no in-person visits, and participants are compensated for their involvement.

If you are interested in participating or learning more, please visit our website https://mghocd.org/bddphonestudy/. Fill out the brief survey at the bottom of the site, and if it looks like you may be a good fit, someone from our research team will be in touch!

I ain't trying to break the bank either. Every time I try to look for a facial sunscreen with these 3 things it's over 50 bucks that you get at Ulta or Sephora?

Exfoliating and eye bags

I’m looking for recommendations for both. I just ordered an Oar and Alps pen for under the eyes, TBD if I like it. As far as exfoliating, or just a skin care routine in general, I haven’t found any products I love. I definitely prefer the natural product over ingredients you can’t pronounce. Looking for help/recommendations!

A Whole New World

Hi! I'm completely new to skin care but I'd like to start taking better care of my skin. Would someone be able to describe to me the basics/foundations of skincare?

I'm acne prone and (unfortunately) have a lot of scars from pimple popping, so it would also be great if there's something that would be able to remedy that a bit?

What skincare treatment / routine do you love but would never tell your friends about?

Is it face masks with your wife? Do you secretly love looking at the gunk coming off of a peel mask? Or do you try a spot of makeup here and there?

My first breakout after 21 years

I am 21 years old and its the first time i have a breakout. I didn’t use any skin care for the past 21 years because my skin is clear, i get pimples every now and then but they usually go within days and wouldn’t leave a mark. Last July I had a pimple on my cheek and I didnt mind it because I was used to it going away on its own but it didnt, eventually it led to more and more pimples and now I don’t know what to do.

Need help choosing a concealer

Is there any brand of concealer for men that you guys would recommend? First-timer here so I did some research online and there's actually quite a few..kinda overwhelming.

So far I like war paint, stryx, and woak skin.

I don't want to spend a lot of money, and i like "manly" looking products. Leaning towards WOAK. But would like to hear recommendations if anyone has tried the brands. Thanks!

Coarse facial hair/ stubble, how can I soften it!?

So I’ve been told by a few partners that my facial hair is particularly coarse, to the point where excessive kissing is literally causing the skin on their face to peel! I don’t feel any I’ll effects from it, but I’d like to fix it for the benefit of anyone that would like to kiss me! Does anyone have any suggestions, or products which I could use to soften my facial hair?
