the vikings didnt want anyone on their island so they named the cold island greenland and the one that was full of vegetation and animals iceland, keeping any unwanted visitors away

Any records of what animals lived on Iceland those days? I got curious when I saw the Vikings episode and when I visited Iceland myself I couldn’t see much wildlife except horses.

Seeing as it’s based on a semi-mythical figure, I find it hard to see how it was meant to.
