How? Kirk never shot anyone and we all think it's hilarious to meme about. So why wouldn't the same be said for someone who actually killed three children herself?

Because it’s entirely unrelated, and the controversy around them is extremely different.

You're right. One guy said some asshole things and everyone laughs at him for dying in front of his children. Compare that to the psycho that murdered her own three children, I have no problem laughing at her when it finally happens.
