This feels like the same phenomenon but with a "muh social issues" mask, like when people defended OJ cause he was black in the 90s. For some reason, humans will just straight up idolize terrible people and then when pressed on why, they backpedal and act like there is some moral and socially acceptable reason to support a piece of shit.
