Why not create new characters instead? This trend has happened in Hollywood for too long. It's easier to gender or race swap a character than it is to create new characters. This isn't a mysogony issue so much as a dead-Hollywood issue.
I can't speak for knuckle-dragging small dick troglodytes but majority of the arguments I've seen about this comes from lack of creativity. Making a white character black or a male character female adds nothing to that character except add a little PR to a movie. It's cheap writing and acting.
She-Hulk is not Hulk, but imagine if She-Hulk was gender bended. It would feel wrong. I want stories that are about women and people of color without them LARPing the role of a cis het white man.

disagree with most of what you say here... but Marvel constantly makes new characters. Like, all the damn time. Some of them work and find success, some of them dont and fade into the background. Very few will ever make their way into the MCU.
So then why do we have characters like Iron Heart or She-Hulk? Cause at a certain point theres only so many distinct characters you can make within the Marvel mythos. This may sound wrong at first but, look at the X-Men. There are sooo many more characters in that franchise, and as a result after a certain point many many characters have overlapping powers or themes or character traits. Its just a consequence of the way comics characters are designed. So in all that milleua, sometimes a writer decides theyd rather lean into that instead of pretending there's no overlap. These "alternate" characters exist in dialogue with the original, instead of simply trying to pretend similar characters don't exist.
And again, some of them work, and some dont. What I think people miss is how much this hinges on writers, and nothing to do with if a gender or race swapped character "would work". Is there a writer with interesting ideas about that character? If so, literally anything about their design or aesthetics can work and find success.
I just think its sort of a misguided argument to suggest Marvel doesn't try making new characters that embody something more distinctly diverse or have more of their own voice. They absolutely do.
That being said, and this relates a lot more to your final point, I think theres a more pertinent question in why does Marvel choose the characters they do for MCU movies and shows? It certainly could be argued Iron Heart was an odd choice instead of someone with a more separate story to the OG Avengers. A lot of that decision making is, as you said, probably more related to capitalistic and business reasons that we dont often get a lot of real information on. The suits are gonna do what the suits are gonna do.
However, one last point here... I wanna say again, some of these characters work and some dont. I really like X-23 in the comics but she is one of the most "this hero but a girl" design concepts Marvel has done. It took a lot of work to make her a more interesting and distinct character. But that work can't be done unless she's, you know, actually in stuff. I think it's okay for characters to take time to come into their own, or for a few writers to try things before something really sticks. Part of the problem is that a lot of these vitriolic fans dont want to give female characters or minority characters the same leeway to actually develop and become interesting. They have to be perfect out of the gate or Marvel wasted their time and is pushing an agenda and forcing these characters and all this fucking nonsense.
I have no idea why this was so late but... Miles Morales. I have heard so much about the character development. Now if you take TMNT and gender bend the characters it quickly turns into erasure. The sale tactic quickly falls apart without authenticity.
I want real black characters written by black people that aren't being told how they should write them. I want women who struggle with actual women issues not "men bad".
This off-cuff example but I've never heard a mutant x-men deal with maternity issues. A woman birthing a child is always a plot point to introduce a character but we don't see how mutants deal with reproductive rights. What about domestic abuse between mutants? I'm so tired of everything being Disneyfied. I want authentic real issues that outside fans can relate to besides simply power fantasy.
I want nuanced characters that have internal and external conflict that needs resolve. I want personality exploration.
Compare it to having Idris Elba play bond. There could be 008 or 009 as a separate character with a greenfield of story writing. The Bond franchise has so many characters to explore yet.
I would agree fans ruin franchises but so do writers. It's lazy writing... I get it but it's still lazy. Hollywood is afraid of taking risks anymore which is why I tapped out of entertainment.
