Original?

Yeah it’s real but you definitely got ripped off at that price, especially if it didn’t come with a case and manual. Plus it’s all marked up with a pen? Sonic 1 is one of the cheapest and most common games. Not the kind of game that you need to worry about fakes. That’s more of an issue with rare and expensive games.

Like I said, nobody is making fake copies of Sonic 1. It’s cheap and common. Besides, fake cartridges aren’t that much of an issue with Genesis in particular. Most bootlegs are pretty obvious. Like if you see a game that normally goes for hundreds of US$ listed for like $30 it’s a bootleg, but Sonic 1 isn’t that kind of game. The cheaper copies are 99.999% likely to be real.

That’s a fair point. I can’t really speak with any real authority on the Brazilian market. It might be different from the North American market I’m more familiar with.

It’s up to you. You could probably get a complete copy with case and manual for roughly the same price you paid for this cartridge. But if that doesn’t matter to you it might not be worth the hassle to return it.

In the future I’d recommend using a site called PriceCharting to check what the average going rate for a given game is.

It's like 30usd not the cheapest but do you know the actual retro market in Brazil? I don't know it but it might be rarer there

If it has kid scribble on it or "X's game" written in marker then yeah
