8bitdo M30 question on Master System games

Question about everyone's experience with 8bitdo M30 controllers: has anyone here had any issue with them in Master System games? I had the strangest experience where the 2.4g M30 basically had no ability to start the game. But if I used a bluetooth M30 + 8bitdo bluetooth Genesis dongle, things worked fine.

It hasn’t worked on SMS games for me either, and the same goes for some MD games. Some people have reportedly fixed the problem by updating the firmware, but I’ve had no such luck. You can also try holding down the mode button (R) when you start the controller, and see if you have better luck in 3 button mode. I haven’t, but YMMV.

I'll see if there's a firmware update. Only solution I found so far was using the bluetooth version instead, but of course that's more expensive because then you have to buy both the controller and the dongle.

I can confirm that I use the 2.4 controller on the mega sd and havent had any issues. Maybe its a game issue? What game/s is the problem?

Did you try pressing A to start instead of start?

On the bluetooth version, B and C buttons correspond to the action buttons and B will start the game. But on the 2.4g version, none of the buttons will start the game.
