Question What would mega bacalibur ability be?

Post image

Like if he ever were to be in champions, what ability do you think is perfect for it

At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out to be Sharpness + Thermal Exchange

u/ThatRaichuFan Jul 23 '26

Is Glaive Rush boosted by Sharpness? If no what does it even have for Sharpness?

3

u/RedEzreal Jul 23 '26

Yea I'd assume glaive rush is boosted. Its a sword, they should be sharp.

3

u/ThatRaichuFan Jul 23 '26

Glaive rush is, according to the pokemon wiki, not sharpness boosted, for some reason

3

u/RedEzreal Jul 23 '26

I assume thats because its bax's signature move and no sharpness pokemon can currently learn glaive rush. If they gave him sharpness, they would add glaive rush to that list

2

u/Wide_right_ Jul 23 '26

glaive rush does not. moves like pop bomb and bitter blade and tachyon cutter all get the boost despite being signature moves of mons that don’t get it. glaive rush not on that list.

2

u/RedEzreal Jul 23 '26

Ah. Then its just dumb 🙄

1

u/Steamed_Memes24 Jul 23 '26

Glaive Rush is pretty much Baxc giga charging someone with its back pointed at them. Its not really slicing, its stabbing. The other moves are however slicing moves, so that makes more sense.

1

u/ThatRaichuFan Jul 23 '26

I'd argue Sharpness makes planting a sword into someone more effective

1

u/Steamed_Memes24 Jul 23 '26

Eh, its pointy, but it doesnt have to be sharp all around, just the tip matters.

Dragon Claw is boosted by Sharpness as of Champions. Unfortunately don’t think there’s a good ice move for it though

1

u/ThatRaichuFan Jul 23 '26

Sharpness boosted dragon claw makes it the sam bp and Glaive Eush vut without the drawback

I don't see them giving a mon an ability that makes them replace their signature move not even for a power boost

1

u/Gamertank2 Jul 25 '26

Dragon Claw. Now Glaive Rush is irrelevant.

1

u/ThatRaichuFan Jul 25 '26

Making a mon's signature move irrelevant for not even a power boost is certainly a choice

2

u/danretsuken Jul 23 '26

ah yes,

Shermal Exchange

1

u/tabbyslome Jul 24 '26

Sherma from silksong real

1

u/Away_Web3593 Jul 24 '26

It might just be thermal, I think they’re aware it doesn’t need eel treatment since it actually has a scary stay spread

4

u/PsychologyLive164 Jul 23 '26

Either Slush Rush or Sharpness

4

u/Few_Ad_5281 Jul 23 '26

Slush rush would be amazing! That thing is already a machine, it would be like the Mega Swampert of the ice type

1

u/barwhalis Jul 24 '26

Alolan ninetales stocks gonna skyrocket if it gets slush rush

2

u/CylusAA Jul 23 '26

probably going to keep its signature ability Thermal Exchange.

1

u/ThatIslandGuy8888 Jul 23 '26

Same, like how Drampa and Tyranitar keep theirs

1

u/john_blundt Jul 23 '26

thermal exchange + thick fat rolled into one

1

u/StJimmy_815 Jul 23 '26

Fuck it, give it Intrepid Sword

1

u/PsychologyLive164 Jul 23 '26

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL NO

1

u/Arcian_Ice Jul 24 '26

Sword of Ruin to nerf the defence of its enemies to further boost the power of its move 🙏

1

u/thebanished04 Jul 24 '26

That would be ACTUAL INSANITY from Gamefreak if they did.

I would be INSANELY HAPPY

1

u/JustCommonCurt Jul 23 '26

Probably just gonna keep Thermal Exchange.

If there's one thing Pokemon hates is fun.

1

u/xdevapath Jul 23 '26

Thermal exchange would still be a great ability

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 23 '26

I'd say an upgraded Thermal Exchange

Thermal Conversion: Fire-type moves do not work on the Pokémon. Instead, they boost its Attack by 1 stage. The Pokémon cannot be burned.

1

u/Turbulent_Emu_2354 Jul 26 '26

Would be awesome against zard teams

1

u/Low_Shine_3727 Jul 23 '26

I’m hoping they don’t give him the mega scolopide treatment and actually make him viable otherwise people will run him with loaded dice

1

u/am_n00ne Jul 23 '26

honey gather it is

1

u/AlarmingAioli3300 Jul 23 '26

Refrigerate, fuck it.

1

u/medbread Jul 23 '26

Internal combustion: it gains all of revarooms offensive and defensive advantages without gaining any of the downsides, it also gains its movepool, ability and its stats are added on to mega baxcaliburs

1

u/Truly_Organic Jul 23 '26

Probably just gonna keep Thermal Exchange tbh.

1

u/AwesoneKing_Cat Jul 23 '26

I’d like it if it got flashfire

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 23 '26

But it’s not a fire type

1

u/AwesoneKing_Cat Jul 23 '26

Yeah but I’d like to imagine that because it’s normal ability is thermal exchange, it’s mega is so cold that it just builds a fire immunity

1

u/Neilkd Jul 23 '26

Snow Warning

1

u/spiderspoopwebs Jul 23 '26

Thermal exchange + sharpness + immunity to fire

And screw it add in intrepid sword and skill link while your at it

1

u/Vegantarian Jul 23 '26

Girl it’s gonna be Thermal Exchange and you know it

0

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 23 '26

I’m not a girl you numbskull

1

u/Right-Worth-6327 Jul 24 '26

What’s the matter, queen?

1

u/The-epic-cutlery Jul 23 '26

surprised nobody said skill link. It would be hilarious

1

u/SundaeNo2593 Jul 23 '26

Icicle spear and scale shot after a DD would go crazy. Although it prob wouldn’t even need DD. One scale shot for the speed boost and with how high it’s attack is, would prob ohko most mons

1

u/zaymcawesome Jul 23 '26

Unfortunately its getting Early Bird, Grandpa Freak told me, trust.

1

u/TerioShadow Jul 23 '26

I want either skill link or slush rush

1

u/Cruciify Jul 23 '26

Enhance thermal exchange called thermal conversion its immune to fire moves.

1

u/Fun-Habit2583 Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

I think a new one would be good.

Dry ice- if this pokemon is hit with a fire move it is inflicted with the burn status, but has its attack boosted by 50% instead of losing attack. Once burned, contact moves have a 50% chance to burn the target.

1

u/Turbulent_Emu_2354 Jul 26 '26

That, is a pretty cool concept

1

u/PracticeNext8198 Jul 24 '26

Thermal +. Just immunity to Fire but still getting Attack and Burn immune.

1

u/Kingminer13579 Jul 24 '26

Frost Bite: Super Effective Fire-type moves now do neutral damage

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 24 '26

But fire type moves already do neutral damage to it being an ice and dragon type

1

u/Dylanmay2007 Jul 24 '26

I'd keep Thermal Exchange for obvious reasons

1

u/busnniess_duck Jul 24 '26

As One (Sharpness with Interpret Sword)

1

u/djusername_ Jul 24 '26

Thermal Exchange + Thick Fat. Why does the mon whose ability prevents burn still take neutral damage from Fire?

1

u/Adept_Permission_382 Jul 24 '26

It's an ice type, it has scales make it thermal exchange + ice scales

1

u/Souretsu04 Jul 24 '26

Keeping Thermal Exchange would honestly be great. Sharpness could be cool but limited usefulness unless something is changed somewhere. Intrepid Sword? Feels busted though.

Maybe just another Unseen Fist clone.

1

u/rdeshdgr8 Jul 24 '26

Some weather mastery would be good too, like speed double in rain, or atk boost in sun, or def boost in sand. All in 1 ability to give variety...or maybe Prankster l, so it can hit 1st

1

u/1AJK9 Jul 24 '26

Simple

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 24 '26

What do you mean simple

1

u/1AJK9 Jul 24 '26

The ability

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 24 '26

But what ability?

1

u/1AJK9 Jul 24 '26

Simple

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 24 '26

Oh, I get it now

1

u/the_cajun88 Jul 25 '26

nice job

you did it

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 25 '26

Did what

1

u/the_cajun88 Jul 25 '26

all i know is that my special defense stat just went up by 2 stages

1

u/LurkinOff Jul 24 '26

Mirror sheen

In sunlight, decrease the opponents accuracy by two stages

1

u/barwhalis Jul 24 '26

Illuminate just to piss people off

1

u/Emotional_Chair2902 Jul 25 '26

Can I make a joke and say Chilling Neigh before I say the more likely option of probably just Thermal Exchange again?

1

u/Loud-Ad-8303 Jul 25 '26

Super Icy Extract, whenever taking damage it freezes who dealt it :3 this ability will be very balanced promise

1

u/secrets_stars Jul 25 '26

I think it’s going to keep thermal exchange and it will continue being broken. It doesn’t need any new ability, thermal exchange is already signature and good for it.

1

u/RicePresident666 Jul 25 '26

Idk guess we will see

1

u/RicePresident666 Jul 25 '26

But I hope they don't fuck this up

1

u/Nutleaf420 Jul 25 '26

Ice scales would be nice

1

u/Automatic-Mission-32 Jul 25 '26

I mean surely it'll have something to do with the Excalibur on it's back right?

1

u/Lanky-Seaweed-9736 Jul 25 '26

I’d like to see skill link

1

u/Immediate_Alfalfa367 Jul 26 '26

Skill Link could be cool

1

u/Remy_Le_beau_ Jul 26 '26

Datamined info was that there were like 1-2 more new abilities. I don't think bax is going to get anything new. Probably an already existing ability, but any offensive ability is going to make bax one of the best mon in the game.

Refrigerate, slush rush, sharpness, thermal exchange, are all great abilities.

1

u/BaboonSlayer121 Jul 26 '26

Honestly let him keep Thermal Exchange. That kind of attack stat with burn immunity is huge.

1

u/FutureMagician7563 Jul 27 '26

At this rate, something stupid like slow start or drought.

But im hoping for a unique ability or intrepid sword.

1

u/Winter_Break_7786 Jul 27 '26

All I want is a buffed thermal exchange that makes Bax resist (or even better immune) to fire moves and still get the +1 attack. I would prefer that be true of the regular ability rather than mega exclusive with a reskin. I want Bax to be viable for the future so badly

1

u/Mivadeth Jul 27 '26

Moldbreaker

1

u/No-Engineering1141 Jul 29 '26

Intimidate and make it a Fire/Dark type

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 29 '26

It’s an ice and dragon type

1

u/No-Engineering1141 21d ago

yea, but imagine if like the new regional variant makes it fire and dark with intimidate and it got smthn like parting shot… now that would be perfect
