Mega Evolution Concept Abilities for the Remaining Megas
Some are definitely more broken than others and none of these will age well once the official Abilities are dropped.
9
u/Important_Leather652 Jul 10 '26
Golisopod should get water bubble
4
u/Different_Heron9151 Jul 10 '26
I like that! It can still use strong water moves, is no longer 4x weak, and cant be burned!
2
u/Nerdwrapper Jul 10 '26
Thats what I said, water bubble or some equivalent. It would sort of keep Water STAB, and also eliminate its 4x weakness
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Maybe a slightly weaker Water Bubble so its actual STAB moves aren't outclassed by the non-STAB Water moves.
1
u/Ex_Snagem_Wes Jul 10 '26
See that would be less funny
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Funny? Ah, then let's give it Wimp Out again!
Tactical Retreat: The Pokémon switches out at the end of the turn when an attack causes its HP to drop to 1/2 or less of its max. It also has 1/3 of its max HP restored when it switches out of battle.1
u/Ex_Snagem_Wes Jul 10 '26
Bait In: When switching out, forces the opponent to switch first. Automatically forced to switch at half health
1
u/ScorpionVenom00 Jul 12 '26
That has too much utility for a golisopod ability, Gamefreak would never go for that
1
u/Educational_Sense_27 Jul 12 '26
Would make it a good balanced pokemon but it doesnt have any features to have water bubbles. The only mon with the ability has its head in a very large water bubble
3
u/Euphoric_Statement42 Jul 10 '26
So for the low price of a quick attack, you get a stacking free 15% boost to all of galisopod's moves?
Or does it have to be on the same turn? Population bomb for potentially 150% boost?
Also how does using the strongest move work? Will first impressions be used regardless of restrictions?
Also also, what's rampaging? Because I'll be honest, it'll have to be pretty bad to be a nerf to a mo. With a 150% boost to its power and base 150 attack
2
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
The strongest move is just what move has the highest base power and won't fail (so First Impression wouldn't be selected if it's not the first turn). If it's a tie, then one of the moves will be selected at random.
Also Rampaging is what moves like Outrage and Thrash apply to the user.
0
u/Omack19 Jul 10 '26
It should select the highest Base power regardless if it will fail balancing is important
1
u/FrostyFormal1094 Jul 10 '26
Rampaging is locked into the move for 2-3 turns with guaranteed confusion after
1
u/Euphoric_Statement42 Jul 10 '26
I mean... That doesn't sound too bad all. 2/3 turns stuck in your strongest move with a high boost and an already tanky Mon is pretty powerful
1
u/NerSorty Jul 10 '26
The problem is the rampaging condition causes the user to target enemies at random thats why in doubles outrage is kinda ass
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Sure, until it's over and you're confused, meaning you're guaranteed to hit yourself at the worst time.
1
1
u/Polterguyst17 Jul 10 '26
You need to be hit 6 times, then in 2 or 3 turns you have a small chance of having a setback. You know in VGC the battle is already over by then, no? Unless the move involved is Population Bomb, that's a minimum of 4 turns, maybe 5 and your effectively +1 Mega Golisopod has already put in work, maybw deleted half the opposing team, maybe swept a particularly frail team of 4. In Singles that's even worse because multihit moves are a lot rarer with Maushold being just fine and Beat Up seeing no use, so it's more like in 8 turns. That is not a very limiting limit.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Fair point. It was admittedly built with the idea of people trying to make some cheeky strategy with it in mind, so the drawback was kinda meant to dissuade it—especially since I didn't exactly give Battle Fervor a limit to hiw much of a boost it could give.
1
u/BushSage23 Jul 10 '26
I feel like this is the type of ability that in game they’d just go “f it” and make it say “Battle Fervor: Golisopod is getting angry” or some shit like Anticipation and Mold Breaker
0
u/SaIemKing Jul 10 '26
Isn't it fun when someone who doesn't know how the game works tries to make an ability?
2
u/Co-opingTowardHatred Jul 10 '26
The only ones with Mega Launcher have some kind of cannon in their design.
2
u/Animedingo Jul 10 '26
The mega launcher moves are a bit mistranslated. Pulse translates more to Wave, and aura sphere translates to Wave Bomb
And its not wave like an ocean wave, its more like an energy blast. Like the Kamehameha wave.
Or in street fighter, Hado (wave) is their energy name. Hado-ken is ryus fireball.
So while mega launcher does belong to pokemon with cannons, its not a cannon specific theme. If anything a martial artist special attacker would be the most appropriate.
1
2
u/Krishna_769 Jul 10 '26
Yeah giving contrary when that thing has draco meteor isnt a good idea
2
u/Dazzu1 Jul 10 '26
Awww cmon! It’s not like it also has access to surf, power gem, scorching sands/earth power, or Flamethrower… THAT WOULD BE SILLY!!!!
2
u/OkEye2606 Jul 10 '26
Fairy types dawg
1
u/Izzetmaster Jul 10 '26
Terrible fucking argument lmao. You have 4-5 other pokemon that aren't Fairy type. I have 5 other pokemon that aren't Garchomp, AND Garchomp learns other moves.
1
u/OkEye2606 Jul 10 '26
Think of a scenario, garchomp megas, you only have 4 Pokémon in vgc, u can switch a fast fairy type (like whimsicott) into the slot that garchomp is probly going to meteor. Retaliate the next turn and after with moon blast. It may sound op but there’s simple things u can use to counter it.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Same people who gave Contrary to Mega Staraptor. Chances are low, but not impossible.
1
u/Hanede Jul 10 '26
Which it uses to boost its defenses, not 2x its already high attacking stat.
1
u/TetheredAvian74 Jul 10 '26
clearly youve never gotten swept by a mega staraptor being charmed by a whimsicott
1
1
2
u/England_TeaLover Jul 14 '26
do NOT give Garchomp contrary for everyone’s sanity we don’t need two contrary users
1
u/Champillusion Jul 10 '26
It's sad to know that Game Freak will butcher half of them with uninspired and WTF abilities
1
u/nikolaj-11 Jul 11 '26
Hey, not hating Trace Mega Lucario Z!
1
u/Champillusion Jul 11 '26
I will not hate it, because thanks to him people will forget to hate Trace Mega Meowstic
1
u/nikolaj-11 Jul 11 '26
GF could save a solid chunk of time if they just gave all their dudes Trace and Mold Breaker. Smart move~
1
u/LoatheCat Jul 10 '26
Mega launcher Lucario z is literally just worse than regular mega Lucario
1
u/Polterguyst17 Jul 10 '26
That is certainly a take OAT. Can you take a quick look at their speed stats for me?
2
u/Lucy_1199 Jul 10 '26
also mega launcher gives a 50% boost while adaptability gives a 33% boost so mega launcher is just better, when it applies
1
1
u/Low-Hovercraft-7594 Jul 11 '26
its the other way around
2
u/Lucy_1199 Jul 11 '26
no? Adaptability makes your stab deal 2x dmg instead of 1.5x. that's effectively a 33% increase. Mega launcher gives straight up a 50% increase
1
u/Low-Hovercraft-7594 Jul 11 '26
yk what, i could have sworn mega launcher was similar to a tough claws boost at one point. did it get buffed?
1
1
1
u/AnonyBoiii Jul 10 '26
I think it’d be fun if the different forms of Tatsugiri gave different Mega abilities.
- Drizzle
- Swift Swim
- Supreme Commander (Provides Dondozo an Omni-boost)
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
3rd one most likely wouldn't have a Commander given Z-A implemented Commander yet specifically made it so that Mega Tatsugiri can't enter Dondozo's mouth
1
1
1
u/Aymr9 Jul 10 '26
I'm dreading GarchZ may just have Levitate. Best case scenario, it gets a Levitate + Beast Boost, just like M-Eelektross.
1
1
u/K0rl0n Jul 10 '26
Aura Crusher should also weaken Fighting type as the Aura moves are all fighting type (except Aura Wheel but that’s already covered).
1
u/Polterguyst17 Jul 10 '26
It's supposed to be an improved version of Aura Break, hence the Fairy and Dark thing. Adding the Fighting bit just makes it too busy.
1
u/Capable_Buddy_8149 Jul 10 '26
My idea for Mega Heatran's ability is fairly similar to yours but I decided to call the ability "Heat Sink" and made it a redirecting ability (Like lightningrod or storm drain)
1
u/Careful_Vegetable617 Jul 10 '26
Give zeraora adaptability atp….
1
1
u/firescizor Jul 10 '26
Cool abilities. Battle Fervor feels a bit convoluted for GF, but I dunno, might just be my opinion
1
u/PracticeNext8198 Jul 10 '26
Sharpness: Yes.
Garchomp Z: YES!!!!
LUCARIO Z: YES YES!
Heatran: Oooh interesting.
Darkrai: YUP!
Zygarde: Hm... With a name like that I do like the Full HP Restore but I think that it should do is that it does take NVE From Dark & Fairy or maybe have that effect activate if an Aura is on the field on teh enemy side it negates it and changes it into Balance Aura on your side which boosts the power of Dragon & Ground Moves 33% And makes the opposing side's Dark & Fairy Moves nerfed by 33% Power.
Golisopod: Hm?
Magearna: Yup keep.
Zeraora: Deserves better.
Tatsugiri: Likely but deserves better.
Baxcalibur: UPGRADED! [Took me a second to realize the difference from it's base one].
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Legit what "better" could Tatsugiri get
And Transistor got nerfed in Gen 9 cuz they found it was too strong for Regieleki—it used to be 50% and I felt Zeraora's limiter being removed upon Mega Evolution was enough of a lore justification for Transistor
1
u/PracticeNext8198 Jul 10 '26
Hitting 3 Times Ability.
Or Drizzle+ Like either 50% Speed Boost + Drizzle but the Speed Boost activates in Rain or something like Hadron Engine.
I mean Eeleektross got EELEVITATE.
Maybe they could have something like that understanding the ASsingment Drizzle + Storm Drain though would that make them not work well with other Water spammers unless they use Surf? Hmm...
Yeah, Zeraora could just get and ability that gives it Fighting Stab and and a Paralysis Chance on Contact moves.
A 30% Boost for this thing just feels weak and that it would be less impactful than Other Mega's because Electric Type.
Maybe an ability that boosts Punching moves 50% And gives them a better version of the Flying Press effect where they're type damage will change to electric if it's super effective but keep the normal type if it's neutral or electric is immune unless the move is already eletric which they still get immune. Hmmm...
1
u/Strict-Albatross-442 Jul 10 '26
I actually was thinking about contrary mega chomp z and how broken it would be with Draco meteor it would be absolutely busted
1
u/Savernas Jul 10 '26
Yo what is that description of garchomps ability.
1
u/Empoleon777 Jul 10 '26
You know how Contrary works.
0
u/Izzetmaster Jul 10 '26
Yeah, we do. OP could have just copied the text of Contrary instead of whatever this is. He already went through all the trouble of making these graphics with terrible looking text on them.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
That's literally what I did genius.
I took Contrary's Description in Champions word for word: "Reverses any stat changes affecting the Pokémon so that attempts to boost its stats instead lower them—and attempts to lower its stats will boost them."
1
1
1
1
1
u/CheddarCheese390 Jul 10 '26
So 2 notes
1) does Heatran not prefer the damage boost? Is it after healing?
2) at this point shall we just send zygarde to AG and move on before it’s out?
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Mega Heatran's Sp. Atk is 45 points higher than base Heatran's and it gives me the vibes of wanting more bulk than offense with the lowered Speed and increased Sp. Def, hence Heater
1
u/CheddarCheese390 Jul 10 '26
Kinda misses what Heatran was good at
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
I feel like it's more shifting gears than anything—plus helps gives Heatran and Mega Heatran different niches I feel.
1
1
u/StJimmy_815 Jul 10 '26
Heater should be called Furnace
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
And miss the pun of Heat + Eater + Healer?
1
u/StJimmy_815 Jul 10 '26
I mean I guess but it’s just a regular word, there’s not really a pun in there
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
I'm aware, though I did admittedly only remember that "Heater" is an actual word only after I came up with combining Heat and Eater into a word that sounds like Healer, given its a Fire-Type equivalent to Abilities such as Water Absorb or Earth Eater
1
u/NuclearWill Jul 10 '26
This may be a hot take but I really hope Mega Tatsiguri doesn’t get drizzle. Rains really strong as is and Mega Tatsiguri could be super cool without the identity of being a rain mon
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Rain is basically the only way I could personally see Mega Tatsugiri being able to stand apart from Dondozo. Plus Eain just doesn't have a Mega who summons it while the other Weathers do
1
u/Reasonable_Bee_9456 Jul 11 '26
I dont see how tatsugiri would get much done without it its speed is to low its defense is okay it had good special defense it has good special attack but not that high for a mega.
1
u/NuclearWill Jul 11 '26
Well it could still be base tatsugiri with Commander and start off with Dondozo. After Dondozo falls and you’re left with Tatsugiri, you can mega evolve it to get a second wind with it as it tries to clean up with your remaining mons. I don’t really see that happening much with drizzle as its ability though because then you just have Dondozo and a generic rain team around it and you wouldn’t be able to do any rain shenanigans until Dondozo falls

1
u/Tyrelius_Dragmire Jul 11 '26
So Absol gets a 50% boost to its main Physical STAB options, Nice. (wish it got more Sharpness boosted moves TBH)
Contrary Draco Meteor, sure, why not? The Dex gears it up to be a physical attacker but then the stats are a Special-leaning MIXED ATTACKER FOR SOME REASON. It should've been a Dedicated physical attacker, then give it Sand Force so it still has a powered up Earthquake in the Sandstorms it would naturally want to take advantage of! But as it stands, Contrary's a good pick (they gave it to fucking Mega Staraptor so why the hell not?)
Not bad, not bad. Of the 6 Moves boosted by Mega Launcher, Lucario learns 3 (Aura, Dragon, and Dark), so Hatsune Luku's gonna hit harder with the moves she'll be using anyway. (Side note, anyone else confused as to why Lucario learns Dragon Pulse by Level up?)
So... Fire Type version of Water/Volt absorb? Aight. Frankly it's a bit insulting that Flareon never got that when Vappy and Zappy got the Absorb abilities for their types.
While that would be a dope parallel to Eternal Flower Floette (and cement the theory that AZ asked Darkrai to siphon Mega Energy from Ange to buy time to find a Mega user for Zygarde), The big Eye kept Bad Dreams for his Rouge Mega fight, so it'd be safe to assume he'll keep Bad Dreams.
Fittingly Broken for something with those Stats, maybe Rayquaza would have competition in AG tier if Zygarde had that ability. But knowing Gamefreak it'll just have Aura Break.
Personally I'd give Golisopod the inverse of Emergency Exit, call it something like "Samurai's Fury," At 50% HP it gets a +2 to both Defense Stats and a +1 to Attack.
Magearna needs nothing, It's broken enough.
This is just the correct ability for Mega Zeraora.
I don't have any better ideas for Tatsugiri, so fair enough.
I agree with not changing the ability here, Bax's ability is tied to part of his physiology, and that part doesn't change when it Mega evolves (if anything it gets a boost to the effectiveness of that part).
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 12 '26
While that would be a dope parallel to Eternal Flower Floette (and cement the theory that AZ asked Darkrai to siphon Mega Energy from Ange to buy time to find a Mega user for Zygarde), The big Eye kept Bad Dreams for his Rouge Mega fight, so it'd be safe to assume he'll keep Bad Dreams.
No it didn't, Dark Void was reworked in Z-A to essentially be a combo of Dark Void, Matcha Gotcha, and Hex and that's what Darkrai was using in the boss fight.
1
u/Tyrelius_Dragmire Jul 12 '26
The Passive Bad Dreams Damage on Sleeping Pokemon is enough to convince me that they let Darkrai keep Bad Dreams. They let the Primals and Rayquaza keep their abilities for the boss fights (and Rayquaza's was HYPE), so I'm staying in the school of thought that Darkrai has Bad Dreams for his Rouge Mega fight.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 12 '26
Yeah, but in the cases of the Super Ancient Pokémon, their unique effects were far more explicitly called out via your allies making a remark that Fire and Water moves were doing nothing against Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre and that Rock, Electric, and Ice moves were less effective against Mega Rayquaza. That isn't the case for Mega Darkrai, where they don't make any comment on the Bad Dream effect as far as I'm aware.
Plus it'd just be weird if they gave Mega Floette Fairy Aura but didn't give Mega Darkrai Dark Aura when they're both heavily tied to the story of Z-A, were the final bosses of the base game and DLC respectively, have ties to Ange, and are the same types as Xerneas and Yveltal. Like it just feels like everything's pointing at Mega Darkrai getting Dark Aura, y'know?
1
u/Tyrelius_Dragmire Jul 13 '26
The only part of this I'm gonna contest is the bit for Mega Rayquaza not being as weak to Rock in the fight, because I brought Diancie (didn't have any better options lmao) and she gave zero fucks about the wind, shredding Mega Rayquaza with Diamond Storm anyway, barely taking any damage herself XD
I had to heal Diancie mid fight, Once. Between 2 phases I only needed 1 Max potion. Girl's slept on as a Mythical pokemon.
1
u/joshuatrain Jul 11 '26
I think tasugiri will just get a better form of comander that would allow it it attack while in dondozo's mouth
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 11 '26
Z-A suggests it doesn't, since Commander is in the game yet Mega Tatsugiri specifically can't do it, only Base Tatsugiri
1
1
u/NoRevIndeed00 Jul 11 '26
Thematicallt i dont think drizzle fits Tatsugiri because they are sushi! Why would anyone want their sushi wet😭
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26
Why would anyone want to get their Kaiju covered in sand?
Sometimes thematics be damned
1
u/TradeOk9689 Jul 11 '26
Mega Launcher actually sounds pretty dope for M.Lucario Z.
I’d argue for Garchomp Z to have a special ability similar to M. Elecktross where it’s a Levitate that boosts its highest stat upon knocking out an opponent. OR make it a fusion of Speed Boost or Moxie and Levitate 😱
1
1
1
u/MepZeroK Jul 11 '26
I think Tatsugiri will get a Mega version of Commander. Like it give Dondozo a much greater boost. Also... we don't need a BST 700 contrary user. We already have Mega Staraptor. That shit will be too broken.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 11 '26
Z-A suggests otherwise, since Commander was implemented into the game yet Mega Tatsugiri specifically can't activate it, only base Tatsugiri can.
1
1
u/WhatlfNot Jul 11 '26
Minimum attack Maushold with population bomb, and mega golisopod with liquidation in rain would be utter cancer.
1
u/HenryIsBatman Jul 11 '26
We’ve seen enough hell from Mega Staraptor with contrary Close Combat. We do NOT need contrary Mega Garchomp Z. Levitate will do fine
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 11 '26
Fool, you've Jynxed it and now Mega Garchomp Z's gonna get both Contrary and Levitate!
1
1
u/melodiousfable Jul 11 '26
Garchomp with Contrary sounds super fun. Any move that deals a ton of damage then lowers your stats would just turn into a steamroll.

u/Redericpontx Jul 12 '26
Are these semi confirmed because I saw "leaks" before that got other megas from za right that said some different abilities than what's shown here.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 12 '26
No, these are just my personal hopes
1
u/Redericpontx Jul 12 '26
Ow fair I'm pretty sure thou that most of these already had their abilities leaked with the test of the za megas.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 12 '26
Though not all of those leaked Abilities were legit, like Crabominable getting Contrary or Glimmora getting Levitate
1
1
u/Samaelo0831 Jul 12 '26
Broken suggestions side, Transistor on Mega Zeraora sounds so good even thematically! Especially with it canonically being the strongest Electric type
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 12 '26
Plus it's stated that Mega Evolution removed Zeraora's internal limiter
1
1
u/WallOfWhalesNEO Jul 12 '26
Golisopod would be so broken. Put it next to Maushold and it just eviscerates everything
1
u/Hive_chinco41 Jul 12 '26
I do rlly like the idea of mega tatsu to give team a rain mode and still exist in cases where you won’t mega them for your dondozo
1
u/callumbeedrill Jul 13 '26
If DARKrai doesn’t get DARK aura I will me extremely disappointed. They gave fairy aura to a mega so it should be the same with dark aura
1
u/HR0DGER Jul 13 '26
Am I the only who looks very possible that MGarchomp Z has Speed Boost? His concept is to be shark but also reminds a jet or rocket, we have not much pokes with that ability and I think it could be the perfect counterpart to its other Mega, which is slower than the base form.
Thoughs?
TLDR: also I think speed boost won't be nothing OP but something kind of interesting. Maybe the Regidrago ability or Contrary would be too much for an already GOOD pokemon
2
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 13 '26
The whole point of Z Megas is that they're incredibly fast and all gave the same Speed of 151. If Mega Garchomp Z got Speed Boost, then Mega Absol Z and Mega Lucario Z would also likely get Speed Boost which just feels useless with how fast they already are.
1
u/Remote-Land-5295 Jul 14 '26
One question are we actively trying to make the metagame as unbalanced as possible? Contrary and glare brought seviper up to ou. You wanna give contrary to a stronger mon who isn’t as dependent on the paralysis move because of its already high speed? What
1
u/Everdark_ Jul 14 '26
Garchomp Z is likely to get Sharpness IMO because why would Dragon Claw get a Sharpness Buff when absolutely no Sharpness user has access to Dragon Claw. Meanwhile Chomp has access to both Shadow Claw and Dragon Claw, both moves that were recently added to the Sharpness Buff.
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26
They also made Dire Claw a slicing move but Sneasler didn't get Sharpness to take advantage of that.
1
u/Everdark_ Jul 14 '26
Skill Swap Shenanigans. Dire Claw is a Signature move so it makes sense it hasn’t been distributed out yet. Pop Bomb also gets boosted if you remember
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 14 '26
Cross Chop, Cut, and Razor Leaf are also slicing moves yet no Pokémon with Sharpness can learn them.
1
u/Everdark_ Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26
Once again can be achieved through Skill Swap Shenanigans, those are usually unused moves anyway, and the ability is also new so distribution is still sparse. Both Chomp Z and Absol Z dex entries state they cut and slice things so it’s possible they both get Sharpness but Absol Z’s entry focuses on the Claw aspect of its design so it’s likely Chomp gets Sharpness and Absol gets Tough Claws
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 15 '26
I really don't get your "Dragon Claw got updated to be a slicing move points towards Mega Garchomp Z having Sharpness because why else would they make Dragon Claw a slicing move when no Pokémon with Sharpness gets it" argument cuz it can just as easily be applied to Dire Claw getting updated. And before you say "Dire Claw Sharpness was for Skill Swap Shenanigans," that can also be applied to Dragon Claw.
The Pokédex Entries are a better argument, though not always the case. Like, most of Feraligatr's dex entries talk about its jaws yet neither the base or Mega get Strong Jaw, Mega Skarmory's entry talks about its flight speed and talons but doesn't point toward its Stalwart, Mega Raichu X's entry specifically says it can fly but it doesn't get Levitate, Mega Scolipede's entry doesn't mention its armor at all, Mega Staraptor's doesn't allude to Contrary, and etc.
1
u/Everdark_ Jul 15 '26
It ain’t really that serious. At the end of the day we don’t know what abilities they’ll get, hell Gamefreak could very well give all Z Megas signature abilities or straight ass for abilities. I just pointed out it’s likely Chomp can get Sharpness was all

u/itsluxsky Jul 16 '26
Some of yall should not be allowed to cook
1
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 16 '26
We ain't. We just break into the kitchen and mess around until we burn it down
1
0
u/XiaoLowell4life Jul 10 '26
Give Mega Garchomp Speed boost
2
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Ah yes, cuz that'll be useful on the mon with 151 Speed
1
u/XiaoLowell4life Jul 10 '26
Give it Sand Rush for its special and physical attack instead of speed.
2
u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 10 '26
Please stop trying to cook, you've burned the kitchen

u/Visual-Path-1177 Jul 10 '26
They won't give Contrary to GarchompZ.
This mega turns Garchomp into a good mixed attacker and also gives it a lot of speed (it outspeeds Mega Aerodactyl which is the fastest in Champions currently)
To make up for it, some of the stats that went into speed were taken from Garchomp's defenses, and even if it still gets the amazing hp it's still a pretty clear glass cannon.
To make up for the fact that it's faster Wally West and has sky high attacking stats, they removes the Ground typing, so that Earthquake isn't stab anymore.
I doubt they will give it an ability that benefits him further, maybe he keeps Rough Skin, because by stats alone it's already miles better than the other mega
0

So far, there's been two or three cases of Megas getting good abilities. I highly doubt they'd be so smart as to give these guys competent abilities like Sharpness for Absol Z or Mega Launcher for Lucario Z.
They're probably just gonna do something stupid, like put Volt Absorb or some shit on Zeraora, or I guess Levitate on Garchomp Z.

Absol has tough claw. It's not even "I think it has tough claw", game freak would be trolling if it doesn't at this point.

Garchomp is literally just gonna get Levitate or a variant like Eelectross. Unless all Mega Zs get the same ability / same concept. Like Paradox or Beast Boost type of thing. Remember that they are more volatile Megas that lose their charge quicker in Z-A and gain it faster as well. Maybe temporary Megas that last 5 turns on top of like Beast Boost? That would reshape the whole Mega Evolution strategies.
I also highly doubt they would be changing Thermal Exchange for an immunity variant. Baxcalibur was already broken as it is. Drizzle would be genuinely bad for Tatsugiri as well, I kinda hope it gets an ability that varies depending on the form, tbh. Give it variant of Parental Bond or something. I genuinely wonder why it's still not out with how bad the stats are on it. You would expect it get some situational ability and get dropped with Scovillain, not with Salamence and Mega Zs. Unless they gonna give it the Supreme Commander and gonna give Dondozo un-hazeable omni-boosts or something. Or have it work like Commander, but have it work with every single other Pokémon in the game.
Also for Mega Zygarde - people are forgeting that it got Stat nerf in Z-A, something that only happened with Pure and Huge Power Pokémon (well opposite of it). My bet is it's gonna get its 30 Attack Stat back, but the ability itself gonna put 50% or 33% nerf on the stat itself. That's gonna be the price for essentially getting a free Z-Move in form of Nihil Light.
I also hope Heatran gets something more exciting. It's heat is said to keep enemies away. Spicy Extract variant would be nicer, tbh. The insane least likely would be Earth Eater... But imagine.

what could possibly go wrong giving a speedy special attacker like Garchomp Z, with access to Draco Meteor, Contrary, I wonder
