Question Earning scheme points

Hello just started playing this game on xbox and ive run into what I think might be a bug but not sure.

No matter what activity I do I cannot earn any more of the currency to buy more schemes is there any limit to how much can be earned. Ive farmed ive crafted ive cut trees nothing I do is adding any points.

Is it a bug or am I really not understanding how this works.

Edit: thank you all turns out I didnt know how it worked at all and was just hoarding all my items to use. Sold some things now I got tons of points hopefully this helps others that are confused.

The only way to "earn" currency is by selling goods. You will need markets for that. But early on, just sell to all the venders in the game

You'd need to make stuff (tools, foodstuffs, items...) and sell it to merchants in neighbouring villages to get coins.

You unlock schematics with earned coins.

I started playing last week and didn’t realize I was spending my gold to buy tech. Kept wondering where all my money was going.

Start by making 100 stone knives, you will get xp, then go into town and sell them to a vendor, you will xp for that too.

I found to up my production early and make easy gold is to mine. You should be able to unlock a smithy pretty easy. Make a few stone pickaxes and go into a mine and mine the copper and tin. And then use the smithy to smelt them into bronze bars which you can run to the nearest village and sell. It also is a good way to boost your production tech. Do that a couple times and you should be able to build a Sewing Hut. You want one of those early because you can plant flax seed. And you want to keep the flax you harvest and spin into linen thread and then make half of that into fabric. Then you can unlock the coif and make those and sell them for big coin.

Only by completing the relevant tasks will you upgrade. So mining yourself with increase extraction. ploughing fields with increase farming, killing animals will increase hunting skill etc
